The "fix a wall" gif seems pretty accurate. Could work, right?
Ok so this means they have to activate my hubby Pitta in week 6 then?
A TE doesn't stretch the field the same way a WR can. Pitta is a tremendous player and his activation alone would be a morale boost to the Ravens, which in itself could help with wins. However, otherwise there is no major help in that as the three active TEs, Gilmore (who'll be back soon enough), Williams and Boyle are looking good! They made clutch catches and seem the right amount of tough. Not worried about our TE corps, with or without Pitta.
Glad to have a healthy speedster on the roster. Hope he can suit up and rock it Sunday! Also really curious which of our guys will be the one to step up. I refuse to acknowledge that Ravens should pass on this season. If adversity is the right fertilizer for a Ravens campaign for Super Bowl, consider the field well fertilized.
Get fit Camp! The next time I want to hear about you being injured is never. I really like the kid, he's a pleasure to watch, so I hope he becomes an asset next year and stays that way.
If it's up to pain tolerance, my guess is Steve Smith Sr misses the Browns game and that's it. That's one tough (you know what I wanted to say)..! He has a long week now and another and then with extra padding my guess is that he will be active and take some snaps, tough if we have a receiver to step up his game, they will be reduced. Campanaro being injury prone truly is frustrating, not like the next guy, as that's always annoying, but because he truly looks good on the field and could do some damage. I would hope he overcomes this next season, but don't know how likely it is in a player who is susceptible to them up to this point.
Hope he gets a good eyeball of Jabril Peppers for when he's available. Go Blue!
Four broken ribs and the guy spent the rest of the game on the treadmill anyway, trying to get back on the field. IV last week in the middle of the game and still continues to play. I wish we had other players who want it so bad.
Not Camp
Not with Steve Smith out for a while too. I like Marlon Brown after a catch, but he has to learn to make them first.
The terrible towel is for Steeler fan tears? I actually do feel sorry for Scobee. Too soft to watch interviews with the guy who just lost the game. Rick Wagner's tackle was a thing of beauty! Tucker is the man to pay, this is not the first game he has won the Ravens. I hope Camp in a wheelchair is just a precaution before the x-ray results. Can't have 3 promising WRs sidelined, Ravens are in WR hell as it is.
Only one thing to do - next time you meet, school him like a little kid.
Every time Campanaro gets some playing time, he shows big playmaking ability and makes plays. It's a shame he keeps getting injured, but when he's available, there's no excuse for Trestman to keep him on the sidelines. He has shown the burst and acceleration to get separation and make plays with the ball in his hands. I just don't get why he hasn't seen more playing time this year, especially with our other receivers struggling so much to get separation.
I think it's exactly his propensity for injuries that keeps him off the field for a lot of the time. Otherwise it's hard to explain, because when he lines up inside the white lines he looks like a highlight reel. He's smart, making good decisions, he has good hands and he's tough to bring down. What is the status on him now that he walked off field late in the game?
THAT was a good game to watch! Both our rookie TEs looked very good, making catches in traffic when we needed them to. Campanaro also looks terrific and seems to make good decisions so I want to see more of him. He didn't get seriously injured, did he? Just bashed up I hope. Jimmy Smith was clutch, both in passing and in run plays and Webb looked good too, despite the touchdown. He looked like Spider Man there
Seems being called Buck goes a long way - especially in the first half I saw Daryl Smith all over the place at the right time and with key tackles and Buck Allen giving a piggy back ride for a couple of yards was really neat! Key standout for me though was Za'Darius Smith with his two sacks and fantastic speed, where he can keep up with Vick and at one point managed to get Le'Veon Bell down where I thought he was already in the open and likely to score - after all, he is a speedster. But ZSmith was there. Damn, I am happy today!
We need to get out quick, score quick and don't let them catch up. The best way to beat teams is to force them to be one dimensional by putting them in a spot to catch up. Bell has never done well against us and Vick wants to throw the ball deep so getting a quick lead and shutting down Bell initially will make it easier to focus on Brown and the passing game. Williams will get a chance to prove he was worth moving up for in the draft and as far as I am concerned, this is make or break for Aiken, M Brown and M Campanaro. We cant keep going wishing and hoping and waiting for these guys to produce. It has been years now with just a very few flashes of what a pro receiver should look like. To me this tells me whether they are capable of making it in the NFL or we need to go out via trade and get another eceiver. If the Ravens are just writing off this season in hopes of a high draft pick then fine, but we aren't out of this, even if we lose tonight and it will be interesting to see if the FO just accepts mediocrity or whether they go out and get someone before Steve Smith Sr. ends up burnt out and injured and we have no one.
THIS FO doesn't accept mediocrity and look to rebuild next year. That is why Ravens are a constant playoff contender. Until off season, nothing matters but the closest game. That is why I have such respect. We are still in the run for playoffs.
What'll be interesting especially is whether Flacco can show how clutch he's been in the past to win games in Q4 and keeping solid cool.
I love Maxx Williams' college highlights and what he has to say when he speaks to the media - how humble and down to Earth and focused he seems. I really hope that goes to show in today's game and that he goes in a rookie and comes out the other end a star. I'm really excited about this game like nothing else this year! 2:25 a.m. alarm clock ready, so that I can watch the game.
Please please please do NOT act like you're going in for an easy win with Roethlisberger out! Underestimating competition is exactly the thing to break a back. Expect that it's the toughest game you will ever play. Work yourselves up. Get the adrenaline running!
As to Crabtree, Perriman and others - it's so easy to judge and "I would have done it differently!" in hindsight. Fact is, we never know what happens and every single one of us is wining it, hoping for the best. Some people are better prepared, like Ozzie for example, improving the odds of getting lucky, but when it comes down to it, some things you just cannot predict.
Most likely out yes they said that he probably won't be ready. So Boyle and Williams will have to be huge. Williams will have a hay day with the Steelers terrible defense. I see a shoot out. Wouldn't be surprised if both teams scored 30 tomorrow. Yes I agree it is the entire receiving core's problem of dropping balls that is why on the last play of thelast game he had 2 or 3 open people but the only people Flacco knew he was going to throw it to was Williams and Smith because of earlier dropped balls. Aiken and Brown have been non factors so far which means we need Williams at tight end to be a threat and Steve Smith needs to keep up his production.
You're right about that. In order for Steve Smith to be consistend all through to January (hopefully) it's Marlon who has to step up most. Or as far as I remember, he plays the same side and that's who he shares snaps with. If Marlon can't do his bit, Steve has to be there all those snaps in order to give Flacco options and that doesn't really help anyone. MB has a good rookie year, with 7 TDs and that really really clutch catch at the back of the endzone playing Minessota in the snow, so he has quite something to come back to.
You can't place all of this on Flacco. He did have drives to help recover at the end of the game, but you could pay him a truck of money and if he has no one to pass to and the run game is plugged, he won't be able to do magic. Apart from that, I feel Q4 is generally Flacco's best and he can do unbelievable stuff there. It's the receivers who really really have to step up. Run their routes well, get separation, catch the ball. Like SSS said, too many guys are just happy to be on the team. That is not enough! You have to be happy to leave your heart, soul and sweat on the field for your team!
Doesn't help when he dropped two balls, so Flacco lost his trust by the end of the game. I don't blame Flacco for not throwing it to the other receivers he has no one to trust except Steve Smith Sr. and even he has made multiple mistakes at the end of games. Yes Flacco had like two bone headed throws at the end of the game, but that happens when trying to crawl back ahead in a game with little time left. I like him throwing the ball away and losing a down rather than an interception. Maxx Williams will be huge this Sunday for us to win. With Crockett Gillmore out and Williams being a solid pass catcher last game. Receivers need to gain Flacco's trust for him to throw it to them, too many drops and it is killing the team. Forsett not producing doesn't help the situation, Trestman needs to realize all our wide receivers are not 6'5 and we do not have Matt Forte in our back field to be doing what he did in Chicago. He needs to start leaning towards our strengths more.
I like Williams and am looking forward to see what he can do. Hope to see his first career touchdown Thursday night. And second maybe. Dropping balls is an issue, not just for Marlon Brown. He needs to get his .. together, because he IS 6"4 or something and can be an asset, but can't drop any more balls. However, some of the plays I've seen, once he catches the ball, he fights for yardage, so that's a positive. It's an uphill climb from here - needs to redevelop a trusty relationship with Joe. Gilmore is definitely out?
Glad to hear Marlon Brown is open and asking for the ball. As long as he does that consistently, that will help a lot.
Will the play with Yanda lining outside keep working? Teams will get ready for it if they see it often.
Gillmore had a critical first down against Denver. He had 2 TD's against Oakland. I believe he would of had a good day against Cincy had he not left the game with a calf injury, which is why we saw Boyle and Williams sharing snaps.
That's the only thing I'm worried about - hope he's good to go Thursday and not inactive due to injury. I have faith in Maxx Williams turning into everything that's been advertised, but at this point in time, Gilmore is the best suited for what we expect to see playing Steelers. He's a punisher and I like that! Since Ravens don't really have anyone to go deep right now, we have to be able to get yards by ramming through a bunch of people and Gilmore has what it takes.
Maxx Williams will pan out nicely eventually, he's on the right path. Gilmore already has and hopefully, we'll see him play against the Steelers, he has the right kind of attitude for the match-up. Though he hasn't shined this season, Marlon Brown ain't a lost cause, give him more snaps, let us see whether he can capitalize on that.
It's not time to panic yet. The chances are every team will lose at least 3 games. The ravens were in all 3 and could of won all 3. But they lost and the reason is pretty clear. the D can't stop late drives to win games. Pees needs to be more aggressive and stop playing the cb's 10 yards off the line on a 3rd and 5 for Gods sake. Everyone watching knew where that ball was going with that formation and the way they receivers were covered.
That's true, except, doing so right at the start leaves Ravens very little margin for error down the line. If we won every single game from now on, which is highly unlikely the way things are going, we would be 13-3, which is pretty safe. However, we still play Steelers twice, Cinci away, Browns twice (they can suck against anyone else, but they always bring their best game to games against Baltimore) and some other teams too, not all of whom are easy prey. Ravens need to do a 180 right now, and I'm not sure how much can change on a short week.
Go hard or go home.
A lotta fans are mad that perriman is still injured but it's not his fault he got injured. We have to wait till he's fully healed so he can come back period. At least he has a chance to come back he could've tore his acl an been out for the year like some other rookies did this year. Some fans comments on here are ridiculous.
My beef with the front office is I felt they didn't add another speedster or playmaker to the offense at wr. They added multiple te an that was kool but for them to think Steve smith is not going to wear down because he is 36 an to think perriman is all we needed blows my mind. I think we should've kept Jacoby jones because he wasn't expensive an we didn't save much money by cutting him. At least we new that jones could beat you deep an him an joe had chemistry. So what he had a bad year but players other than him had bad years as well.
Flacco is a play action deep ball thrower that needs a running game an that's it. It is what it is an he needs weapons around him to make him look good. Our front office has let all of his weapons walk out of the last couple of years an haven't replaced them. They draft Waller in the six round an he has all the measurables but you can't much out of him this year or maybe you can't expect anything at all. Campanaro looks like he will be a good but they don't use him enough an you hope he can make it threw a full season healthy. The other wr are possession guys at best with no speed.
It's time the ravens add some real talent at the skill positions!!
Out of all the rants on here, this is the one that I can best identify with. No point pointing fingers at Perriman, you can't predict an injury and he can't make it magically better, even though I'm sure he'd want to.
Oh, how I do miss Jacoby Jones! Even for the special teams.

Hope to have Gilmore back for the game. Getting the news out there on what's up with Perriman was so surprising I'm in shock. Did not expect information. Canty can do with some additional rest, he's a good player, but we do have a solid D-line and if he comes back, best if he's 100%.
