Well check out Za'Darius Smith! Kid's got speed and good hands!
I don't think any teams are using 3 TEs often. Probably because it won't work because TEs does not have the speed of WRs. It would work on short yardage gains but would falter during the whole game. 3 TEs are easier to cover than 3 WRs because there is less speed and less spreading of defense. Also 3 TEs would tired out quickly because they are bigger than WRs, making is easy to cover them which is why TEs are rotated.
Thanks for the insight
We do still need some deep threats, well aware of that. Will relieve us from blitz heavy defenses some. Just thinking it would be good to leverage what we have in them.
Yes, I agree we need deep threats badly till Perriman comes back. If we cannot find one soon, I hope Flacco throws a 50 yards bomb successfully to Givens which would make teams back off.
Browns' TEs taking apart our C.J. & Buck on man-o-man coverage had one personal positive for me. It showed me that even ILBs who lack raw speed can be elite as they usually are. This exposed how much of what they do is everything other but speed - reflexes, smarts, good instinct and good tackling. Because some of these I can develop.
Well, we got our butt whopped. And lost three linebackers while at it. That's four down this season
Slightest comfort is that nothing went up the middle except the one where they got lucky with our blitz play-call, however still sucks bigtime.
sad to hear.
its always hard to overcome injuries especially when it all happens to 1 position group.
So it's even worse than we thought. We didn't lose 2 LBs yesterday, but 3. All OLB. The last one found out today she broke her arm
Leaves us no rotation at all. Honestly, it's the pride that hurts most. We won every single game last season. This year we won just one, drew one and downhill from there. Yesterday hurt, because for the first time, defense really sucked. PBC only have 3-5 offense plays they run over and over, but execute them better than we can defend them as injury...
Excuse me, how is injuring your child by repeatedly hitting him with some instrument and leaving bloody prints, while perfectly sober and in your "right" mind any less severe than hitting your fiance once when hammered? If anything, a woman can choose to leave of her own free mind, the child has no escape. Double standards. Not happy.
Agreed. If you can snap like that and KO someone when under influence, you need help and temper management so you prevent it happening again. Honestly, who hasn't thought of punching someone once in a blue moon. The only difference is whether you can control yourself or can't. So Ray really has to sort himself out.
But beating your kids until it shows, doing it to the little ones too and with recurrence... Anyone tell me hitting a kid in the head is safe.
Maybe I'm wrong...
damn, cut me off:
but the fact that two incidents of beating kids pop up in the last year, plus the fact that when his other kid died last year he didn't break a sweat and could continue to play unaffected, then the fact that he manages to have same year old kids with different mothers and the fact that he doesn't show remorse or shame for what he did paint a really disturbing personality profile in my head.
PS: Another video with message exchange between AP and the other kid's mom on the incident that never happened (including pictures) http://deadspin.com/adrian-peterson-accused-of-beating-another-son-leaving-1635102727
I want to see how our team does without the regular starters and who is Matt Schaub right now. This game has no playoff implications and I have to get up at 6 AM, but I will watch at least a part of the game that starts 2:30 AM my time.
Schaub caused us the game with those picks
Refs cost us the game with a bad call that retracted a touchdown. Whole of offense cost us the game, because they couldn't convert 1 yard to get a first down on three attempts a couple yards from the end zone. Sure, he could have thrown it better, but both the passes were deflected and that's piss-poor luck. Our guys could have caught it as well as their guys. That's not ONLY on Schaub.
you are right
I found out recently, that all of my ancestors who emigrated to the USA in mid-20th century moved to Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh specifically. Both mom's & dad's side. Turns out I'm a blood traitor
Go Ravens! Kick everybody's butt! Steelers' one extra special.
Hahahahahahah, I'd do that. My grandparents and them are pen pals. Unfortunately, genuine Ravens jersey is one that I haven't been able to acquire overseas
T-shirt, baseball cap, etc, I could, but not a jersey. At Harpies we only wear our uniforms for matches, so if I could get my hands on C.J. Mosley's one (I play ILB with #57), I'd practice in that.
Hmmm, did you try the NFL web site and try to order online? I thought the NFL is a world wide brand. Try emailing the Ravens http://www.baltimoreravens.com/contact-us.html and ask for help, am sure they will try to help you get Mosley's jersey.
Thanks, I'll take a look and once I have some money again, I might get one
Customs are a pain though!
I'm back from training camp and won the starting ILB job! All black & blue, might have a concussion, but I'm happy and proud.
TDubbs, I use a mouthguard all the time. Yeah, the helmet should be better, it was borrowed, I'll figure something out, because I'm not even training in that one again.
Take care girl, football is a tough game.
Good on ya but that's why I watch instead of play. I value my life and health more.
(Contact) flag will have to do.
Stay safe.
Hopefully Givens is ready to play Sunday, not just to be on the active roster, but to be an asset and that he can bring the "Jacoby Jones at his finest" aspect to the game. Jacoby brought a lot of excitement and could really burn opposing players. I want to home that every catch is a touchdown and that every return could be a score. That's what I'll expect.
I agree, even SSS loves to block. I think you're right, Tate is better. I too don't like receivers who puts themselves above the team.
Or any player for that matter. Without a team he couldn't be a player. It's tough, but a team comes first. Of course, whenever we have a new linebacker with Harpies, I'm worried for my spot, but will still extend a helping hand, cheer their successes and work that much harder on myself.
That's true, agreed. ![]()
How in the name of Art Modell do you rehab a hamstring strain? I keep having it over and over and over and if I give it time to rest, the first test run shows it's still not good. I can still play, but it's stumping my performance and frankly infuriating. Just for info, I am an inside linebacker and tomorrow we start training camp preparing for season from September.
Just a joke
Lmao
I had a friend with the same issue, tough to come back from. At this point I have to believe in the staff and the rehab we have in place for Dorota. It's part of the game, players play hard and get hurt. This is what we sign up for. Hope to have her by the season opener
Thanks guys for the advice. Camp is over, hamstring held up, so I feel happy. Bruised up, bashed up, face mask prints in purple and blue over my fingers, someone's cleat print on my hip, everything in my body hurts and I never felt so content
Need to work on my flat out speed and shiftiness, but made a lot of progress on reading the play, so got more tackles at line of scrimmage. First season of women's gridiron season coming up in two weeks, can't wait!
I might be slightly obsessive and mental, but as soon as 3:30 PM hits, I start refreshing every minute, waiting for Sarah's article and hoping she ain't Late for Work.
The play on words.. My bad sassy pants
I hope that she isn't Late for Work, as in, that her article isn't published later than usual. Which is also the name of the article at the same time. You see, for you, it's published right around 9:30 AM, but for me it's already 3:30 PM and I've been waiting all day long for any articles about football.
SARAH!!! Where's my read? Late for Work?
First thing Monday morning, I am moving from Prague in Czech Republic to New Jersey in the US. Scared and excited at the same time. Baltimore won't be too far though! ![]()
give em hell dorota
Typically about 3-4 hours from Baltimore! Safe travels!
With Joe? I'd be blessed! 3-4 hours is not too far ![]()
Tomorrow noon, I play a women's football tourney, first as MLB. I've trained for the position all of one month and am terribly nervous. Please wish me be possessed by Ray Lewis/Daryl Smith/C. J. Moseley for a day for I will need it.
wow we are born in the same year and have the same nickname lol thats really cool.
Is it a lingerie football league?
@BloodRaven. Nope. Regular women's football. Full contact, proper tackles.
We won and won! I could have done better, but I didn't have any major errors and haven't missed any of my direct responsibilities. No one got past the middle ![]()
Day 3 in NJ, so far in Hilton right across from MetLife stadium... how I wish that was AT&T!
Lol, I know. Not bad. Good access to New York City, Atlantic City and not bad to Baltimore either! Might check out Boston too while I'm at it. Have a friend living in Pittsburgh, but not sure there is anything I want to see. ....And I can go watch Ravens when they play Jets or Giants easily!
Just be careful at what you do in AC.
good luck dorota make it work
Steve Smith Sr still in Prague and no luck of random meeting or him popping up at our training. Heartbreaking ![]()
Where were you staying in Prague? I love it here too.
I don't remember, but it was one or two stops from the center. It was a pretty nice hotel and we were on a group tour. Could have been a Novotel. We also liked Budapest as this was part of our tour.
I've played football in Budapest and have seen a little of the view from the team bus, but unfortunately, didn't get to visit it as a tourist yet. Going again in May, but again for football ![]()
So I'm back from the USA. Didn't even last until the start of football season. I'd watch high school games, college games and some Ravens. Unfortunately, I have a messed up back and the health coverage in the US is not as great as many other things you have.
I went to the US as au pair in February, but blew my disc out and couldn't do the job. And as you do not have automatic health coverage for all, or complete health coverage for doctors' visits, I had to come back. The health program the au pairs are offered only covers emergencies and when I called to check whether my back would be treated for free, I was told "No way Jose!" So I came home, where I don't have to pay every single dollar of what I earn for doctors.
Just wait, it's only going to get worse, sadly
I hope not. I've already seen, that Americans often send sick kids to school, because you don't get any employee rights or 4 weeks of holidays like we do, or the doctors, so the kids don't get taken to the doc and the parent just cannot afford to stay home with the kids.
Why can't I format my text the first time round I post a comment? No ends of paragraphs or anything. There must be a way to change default settings. Right?
If I click on edit after posting, I can format, or if I want to quote someone. But if I just write a comment under the article, it comes out unformatted.
hmmm might have ask a mod about that
Good idea, I'll do that.
Hell, I missed the Ray Lewis and Ed Reed era, but the video on the homepage made me emotional. Bigtime.
Me too. I'm listening to the conf now and gotta love the guy. He's funny and really sophisticated and smart. I am hugely impressed. Ray Lewis might be the passionate speaker, but with Ed, I understand exactly what he's saying, he's easy to follow and he has a lot to say and he's right.
I missed it too, I wish I got into football a lot sooner, all my family besides my mom was never into sports
Watching Ed and Ray in their primes was truly amazing. 2 of the GOAT at their positions.
Real happy for Jim Caldwell. He's a good dude and Detroit Lions have a good team to work with. I'm sure he'll prosper there. On the other hand, I'm also happy for us in a way. Maybe a little change can do us well in the offense. More curious than anything else.
I don't think the detroit job is good no matter how talent they have every year they end up being mediocre. Respect to caldwell but he had an ideal colts team and couldn't win the big one with them after dungy left him a great team.
I agree. Detroit needs character and consistency more than anything - that's Caldwell. I'm also anxious/excited for us, it means change.
Detroit forum is exploded with fury after hearing Caldwell as their HC...
The funny habit where I start refreshing the Ravens page every workday at 3pm CET to see whether Late for Work article is out yet. I'll easily admit to that being my favorite feature.
Have you ever had Jedi football training? We still don't have lights on our field, so practice turned really dark really soon. Tackle and fumble recovery training was very much "Luke, use the force!" Had to find the dummy first and then look for the ball
It was great stuff though
Anybody know how is OJ Brigance these days? Haven't heard of him in forever, not since the Ice Bucket Challenge, yet before he used to appear regularly in articles...
looks like he's been busy - https://www.google.com/search?q=OJ+Brigance&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=OJ+Brigance&tbm=nws&tbs=qdr:m - his 5K run for ALS is next weekend
Thanks.
I would run that if I were in the US. 5.7K is doable.
Za'Darius Smith up for Rookie of the Week, Justin Forsett up for Ground Player of the Week and Justin Tucker up for Clutch Player of the Week. Not a bad field trip, was it? ![]()
Cool, anyone know the links which we fans can place a vote? Maybe you can mention it on one of news stories and provide a link for Ravens fans to vote. Looks like a good chance all 3 will win for week 4.
It's all on the NFL.com front page
Justin Tucker - can't imagine he wouldn't be a win. Watched the Justin Forsett highlights and they look even better than just watching him play. Za'Darius Smith made sure we didn't lose the game at least on one point (the Bell tackle not on the highlight reel), but not sure how much the unbiased football fan will notice.
Got it, thank you. ![]()
I hate it when Sarah Ellison is late for work (pun intended). Her article is my fav and I wait for it all day.
lets make an appreciation thread for Sarah to encourage her work...
I'm all for it
Send me a link and I'll support her. Her articles are funny and informative and the best overview of what's going on. Also, first thing to pop-up EST morning, meaning that I get to read them before I leave work in Europe, so looking forward to them all day.
I like Sarah Ellison. She does a good job. Yes, funny at times too.
Good idea to make an appreciation thread for her. I am sure she will like that.
How do you know you've failed as a woman? When your bf talks about A gaps, veer, blocking, zones etc and you're following alright. And then there was something something, kitchen, something, oven, something, 190°C, blah blah and you have no clue what he's trying to say
:D ![]()
Mr. Nobody - I do. I played soccer for years. It's not that complicated. I can kick penalties too. Tried to kick the football last night with my first special teams practice and that seemed to work ok (shoot straight and up) too ![]()
Some hope maybe.... If I ain't a good housewife I have to be good at something else and I am plenty woman ![]()
I hope this works....

"I think you should stick to cooking dinner sweetheart." - got told this on NFL.com for having an opinion. Fun stuff. I bet I can tackle better than the dude. Had a laugh.
