  1. Browns' TEs taking apart our C.J. & Buck on man-o-man coverage had one personal positive for me. It showed me that even ILBs who lack raw speed can be elite as they usually are. This exposed how much of what they do is everything other but speed - reflexes, smarts, good instinct and good tackling. Because some of these I can develop.

The conditions for women's gridiron football in Czech Republic aren't ideal and we don't always get game tape, but I do whatever I can to improve. I invite constructive criticism, I like to see what I did and also I go watch opponents' games when we're not on.

That's basically what I'm doing. The angling so far a little inconsistent, but getting there. Worst is when you have an ankle breaker speedster with the ball. There's progress over the last year and a bit. Last game was by far my best. This Saturday will be my next one, that'll be the tougher challenge on speed.

Thanks guys. That's exactly what I'm constantly working on - reading the offense on time, seeing where the ball is going, knowing which gaps are left open and thus are a threat. That's my one asset over some of my teammates. I can plug a hole at the line of scrimmage, I can bull through people to get to the ball and I have enough power to take the big ones down. So I get there before they get out in the open, that's where I'm in trouble.

To put it into perspective, Sunday was humiliating, even for them, but I try observe league ILBs because it's the position I play and unfortunately, speed is not my forte.

  5. Hopefully Givens is ready to play Sunday, not just to be on the active roster, but to be an asset and that he can bring the "Jacoby Jones at his finest" aspect to the game. Jacoby brought a lot of excitement and could really burn opposing players. I want to home that every catch is a touchdown and that every return could be a score. That's what I'll expect.

Or any player for that matter. Without a team he couldn't be a player. It's tough, but a team comes first. Of course, whenever we have a new linebacker with Harpies, I'm worried for my spot, but will still extend a helping hand, cheer their successes and work that much harder on myself.

  6. I hate it when Sarah Ellison is late for work (pun intended). Her article is my fav and I wait for it all day.

  7. So we appear to have a recurring trend. Every even numbered draft we take an Bama guy early. Who shall it be this year?

Ozzie as an alum has a soft spot for them. And who can blame him, the team was unbeaten for 2 years running recently, or near enough, if I remember well.

...Forsett block extremely well, I've seen Marlon Brown block and Camp too. It's part of the job that players need to learn to do well and enjoy.

Inqui - :D He will. Hope he will make a difference.

RavensFootballFan - If I had to chose I'd go for Golden Tate. I do not like the attitude of Roddy White. He said something along the lines that he wants the ball and doesn't want to block. We really can't do with a player who will sulk as long as he doesn't have a ball and won't help teammates by decent blocks. The guys we DO have are all willing to put in the work in the trenches too. I've seen SSS and Forsett b...

  11. Za'Darius Smith up for Rookie of the Week, Justin Forsett up for Ground Player of the Week and Justin Tucker up for Clutch Player of the Week. Not a bad field trip, was it? :)

  12. Well check out Za'Darius Smith! Kid's got speed and good hands!

Thanks for the insight ;) We do still need some deep threats, well aware of that. Will relieve us from blitz heavy defenses some. Just thinking it would be good to leverage what we have in them.

They'll have to keep it up. We are short of solid WRs so hope we can gameplan for using 3 very solid TEs we have on the roster. Are there teams that have success on utilizing TEs heavily?

TDubbs, I use a mouthguard all the time. Yeah, the helmet should be better, it was borrowed, I'll figure something out, because I'm not even training in that one again.

Thanks! I don't think I do a proper one... helmet 2nd hand and doesn't sit well, tackled wrong, got up, walked three steps, head exploded, started shaking, felt sick, waited ten minutes, got back into training and did exactly the same. However, didn't feel queasy after, just light sensitive and slept very lightly and intermittently for a couple days. My guess is bashed up, but not really concussed. Can't wait too long as the season starts 13th Sep and no one with good enou...

  21. How in the name of Art Modell do you rehab a hamstring strain? I keep having it over and over and over and if I give it time to rest, the first test run shows it's still not good. I can still play, but it's stumping my performance and frankly infuriating. Just for info, I am an inside linebacker and tomorrow we start training camp preparing for season from September.

Thanks guys for the advice. Camp is over, hamstring held up, so I feel happy. Bruised up, bashed up, face mask prints in purple and blue over my fingers, someone's cleat print on my hip, everything in my body hurts and I never felt so content :) Need to work on my flat out speed and shiftiness, but made a lot of progress on reading the play, so got more tackles at line of scrimmage. First season of women's gridiron season coming up in two weeks, can't wait!

  22. The funny habit where I start refreshing the Ravens page every workday at 3pm CET to see whether Late for Work article is out yet. I'll easily admit to that being my favorite feature.

  24. Back from a match in Budapest, Hungary. There was not enough of us, so got to play FB and TE/OL as well as ILB and handled it better than I had any reason to hope. I'm all bashed up, but extremely happy :)

Me too. I'm listening to the conf now and gotta love the guy. He's funny and really sophisticated and smart. I am hugely impressed. Ray Lewis might be the passionate speaker, but with Ed, I understand exactly what he's saying, he's easy to follow and he has a lot to say and he's right.
