  1. I'm almost certain he did not participate at some times.
  2. Fingers crossed for Tyrod Tylor with the Bills. He's been a good teammate here, a good Raven, although he never got to play, but he also never ever vented any frustration where the public could hear it and that takes a good character. I am not sure he'll be of the better starters in the league, but mobile QBs have some advantages too. He averaged over 10 yards per carry yesterday. And for people playing fantasy football, he could be a dream come true if he can keep rushing like this in the regular season. It doesn't even matter if his passer rating is poor then. Tebow made good fantasy points too I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow already and the Ravens coming back to Baltimore. SSS has got quite the temper. If Osmele needs some time off, he should take it. We already know what he can do. He already has chemistry with the rest of the line and his RBs. Better rest that Achilles than having issues during the season. Our talented OL back-ups would surely put the extra reps to good use.
  3. Risking a lot of negs here, but Pitta is never going to come back and play. He will stay with the Ravens until he's fully rehabbed, making use of the benefits of a contract, but also helping out our very young TE roster, mentoring, providing his input and helping active Ravens TEs mature for the NFL quicker. Then he will retire. However, hip dislocation, especially recurrent is a no-way-back thing. I love Pitta to bits, but it wouldn't be smart in terms of his own future and well-being.
  4. Glad that Juice managed to hang on to that ball. He might receive some confidence from the coaches and still have a role. Seems to me that the fullback in the NFL is slowly dying and as a fan of very physical, full contact football, it makes me sad. That's one of the reasons I like Green Bay's Eddie Lacy, he keeps that in there. Hope there's a role for Juice beyond blocking, even with a very passing approach we will likely have. Otherwise he'll be gone next year to give a space for a 4th TE or a 7th WR or something like that. I want to see our offense to be able to bull through a crowd of defenders. Now, I am aware those things lead to more injuries and are less flashy on the stats, I'm just sharing my preferences as an audience.
  5. It would be nae to believe that there will be no scruffles, but there will be nothing such as Cowboys-Rams displayed. Most important, keep our guys healthy, no injuries, please! Want to see our D-line against a different offense than ours.
  6. I just realized I'll be able to watch the Philly game, because it will be Saturday and no one will care that it starts at 2:00 a.m. and I won't have to get up or work :)

  7. I don't think that Melvin will replace Webb... just yet. Over time, maybe, he is healthier and he is showing promise, but he hasn't yet earned fulltime trust. Webb's injuries however are a problem though, so if Melvin keeps showing up and Webb does nothing to increase his own stock, it might be a matter of time.
  8. Za'Darius is a player to watch. He could do some cool things and I don't think we'll miss Pernell McPhee as much as we were worried we will.
  9. Thank you for the link to Jeff Zrebiec's article on Kendrick Lewis, it's a good one. Hope Lewis turns out to be everything he seems to be. Talented, respected and vocal, on the football field and off the football field in situations where he can make a difference. I'll be expecting some big plays from him and an altogether improved performance from the secondary this year. This of course won't be just Lewis' input, but he's part of the chemistry that should make them a better team this year.
  10. Fans are comforted after TEs performance in preseason as well as in training camp. We have three guys that are able to do different things and Ravens can use in different situations and all of them are able to catch! I wouldn't worry about Maxx, he's young, he's straight out of college and Ravens' weight conditioning program will bulk him up some. And then fear the Big Boy! Flacco is fast, but I appreciate that he downplays that. Two reasons. 1) We don't want defenses to expect him to scramble and be mobile and gain yards through his legs 2) If he doesn't pride in speed, he's less likely to get into situations that may get him injured recklessly. He has a solid OL, let him do his thing behind them Good on Tyrod! Riding the bench for four years is a tough thing to do and I've never seen him complain, so I wish him the ability to seize on the opportunity and show what he learnt from Flacoo and show some continuous development and progress.
  11. Our 3 TEs that are active on the roster will make it a tough life for opponents this year. I feel good about Maxx, Gilmore and Boyle!
  12. Haven't seen the whole thing as I was struggling with my internet connection, but liked what I did see. Schaub looked good as did Taliaferro and definitely Carl Davis. Didn't see much of Maxx Williams, but what I did see I think we're going to be solid on the TE front even if Pitta doesn't suit up. I like his toughness!
  13. Watching from Europe, I didn't get to see the whole game, but of what I saw, Schaub looked impressive and if he stays this way, I would trust we could get far riding his back if we needed to, which I truly pray we won't have to. Carl Davis looked good on the line, saw some nice hits from him and I will see more for sure. Looked like goodbye to Arthur Brown, didn't see him, but Zach Orr has some good moments, so that's who I think Ravens will keep. Lorenzo Taliaferro looked good as in moving forward, but I'm glad we have Justin Forsett for the season, as I found him a little slow running and sometimes a second too slow in decision making. Campanaro impressed. Also glad that I haven't seen fouls by Ravens except that neutral zone infraction by Zach Orr I think, where it was quick thinking by Saints OL, touching him on the helmet. My only gripe, which is understandable for preseason is, that I found the game a little soft. Few hard hits. That's why Carl Davis left such a good impression I think - he made it look like it'll hurt.
  14. Canty probably will retire after this year. He stated after last season that the wear and tear are taking a toll and he is slated for a career around football already as he is good with the media and his insights are worth hearing. I do hope that Daryl Smith sticks with us for another season at least! He's not that old and he's been doing a really good job. Only thing is, he gets beat in zone in passes, because he isn't very speedy, whether by age or nature. Sizzle scared me bigtime at the OTAs with his non-committal statements and if we do win Superbowl, I can see him retiring, but I'd rather not. Soon though.. I don't like it!
  15. Thank you! It wouldn't be possible with any type of player, I don't think you can make Dez Bryant a charity type of guy, because he is what he is, but Ray is different. Unfortunately, his altercation made people forget who he was before, but if you look at it, he was one of the players most engaged in charity, he did stuff with bullied kids, went to schools, organized activities and put a considerable amount of his money into it. He's a genuinely likable guy.. Therefore, it wouldn't look like a PR fix-up to justify why you sign a rotten person onto your team. It would be getting back on track. He could become a success story - i.e. Even if you mess up in life, even if you've done something bad, there is redemption, and there is a point to try. He can choose which part of the equation he wants to support, whether the victims of DV or the perpetrators. Help them get their act together. Because, let's face it, if a victim leaves a violent partner, it fixes the life for the victim, but there's another one around the corner that'll hook up with the violent partner and history repeats itself. Those "bad" people need guidance too, if they are willing to accept it. So I think it could work. Plus, people get bored easy, he won't be national news for too long, or not for that one thing. Remember, he is an elite football player, just forget 2013, that was more issues than just Ray. He's been keeping himself in shape. He's had time to fix up all the lingering injuries over the course of 2014. There is nothing to lose in giving him a workout and seeing if he's still got it. They can make a deal with JJ Watt, that if Ray goes of the deep end again, JJ will break his legs Because I really believe that Texans would be a good fit for him right now and they're not as tainted as some others and could absorb the initial hit with next to no collateral damage on the PR front.
  16. I actually liked Dallas Clark for what he was - a quick fix for an injured Pitta already into the start of season, when most free agents worth anything at all are already taken. He wasn't a 6'7 stud come out of college, but he did some things for us and was good at converting 3rd downs. I liked that he fought for contested balls and didn't go down easy. And could make those one handed grabs too.
  17. I love that they'll have OJ Brigance. He is still a part of the team today and fighting a monster that generally doesn't give life expectancy past three years. And he does it with infinite grace!
  18. True, that would have been best.
  19. Ravens don't need him at the moment. They have Forsett for another year or three and two young backs (plus Touissant, who I doubt will make the roster). However, I do think there's a legitimate spot for him on Texans roster if they'll have him. A lot of it is just fear of bad PR. Though why they don't manage PR sensibly and will rather be a losing team without the media hassle, I don't know. Make an announcement, send some team money to a DV charity, have him become a face of some org that helps either DV victims or the offenders with temper management, live through the 1 week of bad publicity, then move on to football and be glad, that with Ray you might still bee talking about football in January.
  20. If anyone ever wanted to punch Flacco, they wouldn't get past Yanda before he wheelchaired them. Glad to hear Ray Rice being talked about again in relation to football. I really do wish him a second chance in the NFL. It's highly improbable that it will happen with the Browns, both West and Crowell showed promise and I think the statement is just for motivation. I would also not wish the Browns organization on Ray. Texans are a better team for a second chance and in actual need of an every down back so I'd rather see him there. Not sure that's realistic though. Steve Smith Sr's quotes are the best and finest. “Put the women and children to bed. It's not going to be a good night" - this will become a classic! I saw the 13 unforgettable things about SSS on NFL.com and have endless admiration for the guy. Although (and don't take this as putting him down, I'm not) with his southern accent, he does sound like the NFL Bad Lip Reading and made me giggle.
  21. The funny habit where I start refreshing the Ravens page every workday at 3pm CET to see whether Late for Work article is out yet. I'll easily admit to that being my favorite feature.

How long does it take for the articles allow comments? I thought it was about 15 minutes...

  22. Courtney is a beast and I love him for what he does. He doesn't get the flashy plays and the stats, but he gets his job done and helps others do their. Stats aren't everything and in Baltimore, he's acknowledged for that. Obviously, he deserves a pay day, but it just makes next year scarier with him, Yanda, Osmele and Tucker all in need of a new contract. Still hope he gets some sacks, especially against Steelers. Though the last one didn't count for stats, the hit on Roethlisberger was extremely satisfying. I'd watch it over and over. In fact, I did just that.
  23. I really do hope they keep Yanda, he's my man-crush on account of skills. I think though, that he wants to test the market and that's why no deal has been done. Same with KO and Tucker. If it was up to Ozzie, they'd all be under contract for the next couple of years already. Mosley will have to step-up also, once D. Smith retires. Though I hope that's not for another 2-3 years. As an inside linebacker, being a leader is his job as it's the one position that should be the quarterback of the defense. K. Lewis has the qualities. You can have a vet that's new from another team step up that way. Ihedigbo did and I really miss him still. But otherwise, we will have to wait and see.
  24. One of a kind - yes. I am not concerned though. It helped having him here, there will be shoes to fill and just having those inspires players to want to be that.
  25. Interesting though about who the veteran leaders will be in a year or two... It's always scary, but generally you have someone pop up. The number one on offense will be Joe Flacco. He doesn't have that fiery thing going on, but he'll be someone who you an turn to as a player. Some of our year 1 and 2 players will be older, more experienced and more confident, so you might hear someone mouthing it that hasn't yet on account of not having earned it. You can have Jimmy step up, there is still Lardarius and who was it? - I think Kendrick Lewis is already getting vocal in the secondary. On offense, though you don't hear him all that often, I think maybe Crockett Gilmore will be more of the attitude guy. He's already shown he can be a cheeky bugger and that he has a quiet confidence.
