  1. If only it were that simple...

    1. If he wants to re-do his contract so that he actually creates room to sign significant players, he's going to have to take a paycut, which I doubt.

    2. If he does this, he will also need to do this before March 12th realistically, so the clock is ticking.

In general, I'm not convinced either happens. I certainly don't expect him to take a paycut and don't think he should either. Extending his contract and creating $6-8M in cap space this season isn't going to be anywhere near enough to get some explosive weapons, nor do I even see many, if any, explosive weapons available in FA to get.

theres dozens of ways to restructure a contract without taking a "paycut", and free up a good amount of $$$.

  2. As much as I'm arguing with Winchester, I don't disagree. This offense has potential. Not as loaded as the Steelers persae but the Steelers' defense is their downfall.

Defense wins championships. Bar none. What truly killed us this year is losing Ngata and McPhee. We lose Suggs but still have those two, we have a better unit guaranteed.

The offense could use another piece. It's true. Another WR or another playmaker.

Fact of the matter is. We have Crockett. A pretty good TE. Buck and West compliment each other well, and Perriman is so much better than most give him credit for. He is significantly more polished than Torrey was coming out. At worst I think he's Torrey 2.0. Which is fine. Torrey was a pretty good WR.

But we need another piece. Whether it's another RB, or another olinemen, or another WR. We could use the help.

buck and west are NOT the answer at RB

  3. Agree with you about Rodgers but I'll take Flacco over Wilson all day.Wilson is not all that great and is surronded by a great team. Not the greatest offense but still.Joe was one of the, if not the main reason we won the Superbowl and won Mvp,where as Wilson wasn't and had a defense that carried him.

saying russell wilson is not all that great is flat out ignorance. dude balls hard.

  4. op of this thread is clueless. bengals are downward spiral after last week for many obvious reasons. steelers prime days are also dwindling. big ben has maybe 2 more years at most of relevant play. and the browns, well they are the browns.

we have nowhere to go but up, with Flacco still in his prime and a bunch of young guys, we just need a smart financial off season. if i had to invest in any team in AFC north it would easily be the ravens. sure we had a down year, but being within 8 points almost every loss just proves one or two play makers on this team can make that much of a difference. steelers will continue to be our only competition 2-3 years into the future because of their young talent of WR's. although their defense is not good and wont be anytime in the near future.

as someone else mentioned, this years playoffs have actually been sloppy play for the most part. the whole NFL this year was just bad.

  5. I don't necessarily believe that but I read someone say they thought that so I only used it as a possible argument against the call, although I personally felt the hit was dirty. What's the sense of calling someone stupid, though? That's essentially what you're doing here. First of all, it's against the rules to even do that. Second of all, if you're going to ask a clarifying question then you should ask before throwing around an insult to avoid possibly looking ignorant.

Using a counterargument against your own while still arguing in favor of your original argument is a means to provide validity to your own argument to avoid showing bias to your potential point.

i typed "if".. so "if" you WEREN'T accusing brown of "selling" getting knocked out by burfict then you wouldnt have responded in such an anxious, desperate manner to defend yourself.

  6. I'll agree with all that. It's not Merriweather-dirty but it was a dirty hit IMO. He hit him with the shoulder and Brown probably sold it, but honestly, Burfict only has himself to blame because perception is reality and he is guilty of these types of hits. Just like CBs get away with DPI if they're considered good, there are plenty of players labeled dirty who get flags & penalties not go their way due to their dirtiness, so to speak.

I'm not sure what happened with Brown crumbling but I can only go with what I saw. Maybe he lost balance, not sure. He's a great WR, so if you want to throw the argument that he did it intentionally, I'd say maybe. Maybe he even sold it.  He sure looked like he flopped down dead there on the field. Then again, maybe he is genuinely hurt? It's hard to say either way, honestly, since we weren't on the field so we have to go off our own perceptions.

theres a lot going on so i didnt go back too far in the posts, but if youre talking about brown "selling" getting knocked out by burfict in the end, then wow you must not be the sharpest knife in the drawer lol smdh

  7. This sucks. Why in the world would we keep pees over promoting Ted? This could seriously impact Suggs returning. I was excited for next year, until right now...

Im more happy for him then disappointed to see him leave. Honestly I think most of the defensive coaching staff needs overhaul, including Pees. Monachino is a great coach but will be better off in Indy under a new organization with more power. I would like to see us bring in some young fresh coaches to replace these guys and rejuvenate the energy of our D.

  8. K-Dog traffic is terrable in Baltimore during Ravens games and it can be just as bad during O's games too. Depends if theres a big crowd. I spent an hour at stadium after the game waiting traffic to ease up a little. But during O's games i can get out very easy unless Yanks or Sox in town. We need advance subway lines so we can take it all the way up to the counties and go home safer and smoothly.

Every single Ravens game Ive ever attended, i got in and out of the stadium parking lots with absolutely no problem.

lol @ anyone that thinks Baltimore has too much "traffic" and needs a "train" or "subway" system. Go spend some time in DC, New York, Chicago, Boston, LA etc etc etc and get back to me.

  9. That's what is important. This thread is treading on something ridiculous; it may be natural to compare him to the incumbent starter, but it is completely unfair to Mallet to even mention him in the same breath as Flacco. He isn't, and never will be Flacco. But let him be Mallet. As we saw today, that could be all we need him to be. I liked signing him, despite his baggage. If he gets his head right, he can be a very valuable asset to us.

yup. the vast majority of posters on this board are completely knee jerk to every scenario and its borderline insanity and absurdity.

    "fire john harbaugh"

    "ryan mallett is our savior"

"steve buscemi is paying for this season out of his pocket"

    smh

  10. You could take all but the most spectacular of picks, go back to the draft list and find someone taken later and say, "damn, we should have picked him.".

sure, but my point is geared towards ozzies philosophy of drafting 334547 defensive lineman in the first few rounds compared to drafting maybe 1, or 2? WR in the first few rounds in ravens history. especially recently with the league changing and the ravens failing to adapt.
