  1. exactly. you can only blame the players for so long, but the coaches are the ones who recruited said players and drew up the plays these players arent performing correctly. at that point its in the coaches hands, and if they refuse adjust and better suit the players on the field then fired. we cant go out in the middle of the season and pick up retired players via free agency and fix the problem. you have to take what you have and make it work, no excuses.
  2. the whole "shouldve won" or "couldve won" mentality is complete nonsense. for the most part we played terrible on both sides of the ball the majority of all 3 games and theres no excuses for poor execution. the denver game peyton played poorly, the raiders defense is atrocious, and the bengals made so many mistakes to keep us in the game and we still lost. so the whole "shoulda coulda woulda" can go both ways IF you want to play the game, but in reality we are flat out an 0-3 team. you are what your record says you are, to quote the great bill parcells. we absolutely deserved every loss thus far due to poor execution and need to really start digging into the coaching staff, because they are not utilizing the type of players we have. thats the only way to fix the problem at this point is to dial up plays AROUND the players, not force them to make plays AROUND the schemes that obviously arent working.
  3. yup. no way pagano goes back to being a coordinator after how successful his career has been. either he retires or becomes HC somewhere else. some people just cant grasp that.
  4. nah, stay away from pagano. love the guy but we need fresh ideas. we need a young buck willing to prove himself.
  5. didnt read post, responded to thread title. its because we have no pass rush. Edit: and we also have no run game
  6. because we have no run game
  7. agreed. we need fresh young blood. someone who will come in and have something to prove. a risk taker thats willing to come in and dial up blitz plays. someone who will bring fire to the defense. someone who will be down on the field. its time to make a change asap.
  8. kendrick lewis, schuab, kyle arrington, forsett.. all 4 of these players i highly criticized for signing or re-signing and boy was i right. complete garbage. although some may argue schaub hasnt even played a regular season snap for us, his deal was way too much money that could've been spent on other talent, and if he DOES play then that pretty much will get us 1st pick in the draft next season. and timmy jernigan is continuing to prove hes completely overrated, as i stated before the season started. also was very questionable of trestmans hiring. people all over this board were so stoked on all these signings and the words "super bowl" were in almost every thread. smh
  9. lol you linked a comic talking about the mentality of athletes. even jimmy smith said himself before the game, it is a must-win. i'll go with the knowledge of an NFL player over a stand up comedian. we are now officially 0-3 with all losses coming from afc and divisional opponents, still think it wasnt a must-win?
  10. timmy jernigan has always been extremely overrated. no idea where all the hype comes from.
  11. your second part. they lost 2 in the AFC and 1 in the NFC during the 1-4 start. look up the playoff NFL implication scenarios. on top of that they went 8-8 that season. if you think us going 8-8 this year in our division will send us to the playoffs then all i have to say is "whoa".
  12. youre talking about 2013, and they were never really a legitimate playoff contender. just because they were "in the hunt" a week or 2 in the middle of the season doesnt mean anything. and thats exactly my point they didnt even make the playoffs. they were actually terrible that year, as was the rest of our division. and you keep bringing up our 10-6 super bowl year, ive already proven to you that doesnt compare to this situation so im done with that. also i posted this in another thread but ill post it here for you too. facts dont lie. only FIVE teams in NFL HISTORY have made the playoffs after a 0-3 start. dont believe me then google it.
  13. what article claimed this is not a must-win? whatever author wrote that should be fired. this game is an absolute a must-win. facts dont lie, only FIVE teams in NFL HISTORY have made the playoffs starting 0-3. so that means if we lose this week we have what? a 0.01% chance of making the playoffs? and like you said if its a loss then its a complete organizational meltdown, regardless of the score. people will get fired.
  14. actually mathematically it is a "must win", because the the probability of making the playoffs drastically decrease if we lose. if we lose week 3 we are out, theres no question. the chance of making the playoffs at that point is unrealistically low.
  15. i respectively disagree, as i mentioned earlier it also has a lot to do with when you lose.. due to several reasons, but one of those most important in my opinion is injury based. for example, look at the dallas cowboys. them winning the first 2 games with romo was CRUCIAL mainly because of his injury. its actually a short season considering its only 16 games. if they lost the first 2 like we did, they would immediately be out of the playoffs at this point due to romos injury. BUT because they won the first 2, they still have a chance to realistically go at least .500 the next 8 or 9 weeks until he gets back. at that point they are sitting around 6-4 or 7-3 and potentially make a late season run with romo back on the field.
  16. wait, wait.. are you saying these teams lack speed at WR's? lol youre kidding right? broncos, green bay and new orleans have nothing but speed and talent at the WR position. and NE has the perfect combo of WR's and tight ends for their dink and dunk playcalling. what a bad argument.
  17. ^^^ thank you, someone gets it
  18. wrong, a loss is not just a loss. theres A LOT of other factors. theres a massive head-to-head playoff implication scenario put into place by the league for a reason. on top of that, if you really think starting the season 0-3 (especially when you have NO idea who will be injured later in the season, for example god forbid joe flacco) compared to losing 3 later in the season is the same exact thing then you need to reconsider your nfl knowledge, and also check the facts and statistics.
  19. well, no one wants a loss. but some losses are "worse" than others. for example, the denver loss was bad but was somewhat tolerable because it was week 1 in Denver against one of the best teams in the NFL. the loss in Oakland was so much worse because its week 2, against another AFC team which can bite us in the butt come matchup playoff standings time. and on top of that its OAKLAND. and if we lose this week to the bengals then its pretty much the dagger to the heart. not only is it a loss at home against a division rival, but im pretty sure the chances of a team making the playoffs in the NFL starting 0-3 is pretty much out of the question, especially in our division. so basically the first two losses were bad yes, but if we lose this week our season is basically over after only 3 weeks, after this team being so hyped over the offseason i always hate when the Ravens get hype, and this is exactly why. i want to forever be underdogs.
  20. who in this thread made a post stating that we had losing seasons because of ray lewis?
  21. tru11 you came out of nowhere and started blaming people for stating ray lewis lost us seasons.. thats not what anyone posted at all. people are stating that ray lewis was obviously a great player, if not one of the best, but the game is played with 11 people on both sides of the ball. he doesnt walk up to people, put his hands on other peoples heads and say "play on my son" then all of a sudden we win games by the grace of god. theres a little more to it, use common sense. we need to move on from ray lewis. his legacy will live on forever in this city, but we cannot turn to ray lewis every single time we have a losing season. and even if we did, expecting us to win just because he is on the sideline is lol. the problem is not losing one former HOF player, the problem is the current staff.
  22. or he'll just come out and contribute
  23. ray on sideline lol. ravens fans just getting desperate now.
  24. yeah some people really dont understand how business works on here
  25. if you think Steve personally lost money from his finances due to the Ravens staying in Oakland for one week then lol. Steve loses money if the team loses consistently. In that case, IF the ravens have a losing season, then you can say the week in Oakland was a fraction of a fraction of the cost.
