  1. FO can take part of the blame on this one. It went from out a couple weeks, to a couple months until Thanksgiving IR and out the rest of the season. We needed him because we had to no speed threat on the outside. Whiffing on draft choices the last few years - Matt Elam especially didn't help matters. People tend to think your #1 pick is ready to play and contribute right away. Maybe for other teams but certainly not the Ravens other than CJ Mosley in recent years. Just saying......
  2. Yeah, that's not really true (though I am a Monroe supporter). 1. Semantics, but he played for the Jags, not Seattle. 2. I don't think anybody ever thought he was top 5. The biggest reason I doubt this is the case is because the Jags drafted him 8th overall in 2009. And then, four years later, they decided it was time to use the #2 overall pick in 2013 on another LT. Now, one would obviously have to question the productivity of a player when a team who invested a top 10 pick in him looks to replace him with another high draft pick within four years of drafting him. Now, generally speaking, I thought he was a pretty good LT, and at the time I thought it was a steal of a trade for us, but I never considered him a top 5 LT (nor was he or is he being paid like one). Maybe a back-end top 10 guy, but no higher than that. Typically I'd argue that it could have been a case of a team not having the cap space to sign him to an extension due to his price tag, but the Jags have pretty much annually had tons of cap space, and that certainly wasn't a problem in 2013 when they drafted Joeckel. Eugene Monroe is getting paid like a top 10 LT which he is NOT! Another bad deal for us. We traded for him and yes at the time it seem good for us up until Ozzie decided to pay him like a top 10 LT along with Dennis Pitta and Ladarius Webb. Those three contracts are killing us. I am not a big fan of Eugene Monroe. I think he gets beat too much and I haven't liked him for a couple years now and have posted about him. The FO has dropped the ball the last few years with poor draft picks and bad contracts. We need to get our balance sheet in order and that is gonna be painful any way you cut it.
  3. I'm with you there. We never pick who they say we should pick.
  4. I agree with you. Would rather eat it for a year than have to deal with it for 3-4 years with a bad contract. Just face it, Flacco sucked last year even before he got hurt. Those back foot lobs killed me. I really expected so much more from him being a 8 year veteran and his lack of progression is disappointing. After all we had the "Quarterback Whisperer" and he was going to make Joe so much better. Didn't happen. Will see this year? Won't be able to blame another new coordinator or a new system blah, blah, blah. Seems to me the really good ones always get it done despite the obstacles. I get so tired of slow starts and the Defense gets worn down trying to keep us in the game and by the time the Offense gets going the Defense is done. What was Joe's Wonderlic score? Might explain it. Maybe the Oz and the FO knows something we don't and that's why their willing to payout the current contract. Nobody is above the Team, even Joe Flacco and he has to play better than last year that's all there is to it. Nobody wants the quarterback merry go round again but we don't need to throw good money after bad either. We did win a Super Bowl with a serviceable QB Trent Dilfer. We were the first team to cut a starting QB after winning the Super Bowl ever.
  5. On another note the contract we gave Eugene Monroe is up there for bad deals. Another one who hasn't played up to his contract and whether we keep him or not any way you cut it there is lots dead money.
  6. I disagree. He had his best year as a pro in 2014 (under Kubiak). He did regress IMO this past season. Well he is not the Elite QB that warrants that kind of paycheck. Is he a good QB? Yes. Does he have a strong arm? Yes. Can he read Defenses? Questionable. Don't get me wrong I like Joe Flacco but I have expected more from him and gotten so much less especially last year before getting injured. Yes he did have a good year under Kubiak but still blew it in the playoff game with New England. We had a little time and we didn't need to go for it all on that pass to Torrey. Again famous over throw/under throws and considering what we do pay him I personally don't think he has lived up to it.
  7. Joe hasn't played that well since signing that big contract. Over throws, under throws, back foot lobs. I for one would like to see improvement in all those areas and a little more consistency. Yes, he had a great run in playoffs in 2012 but since then has been mediocre at best.
  8. Delusional at best. Stop drinking the kool aid. We do not have anyone like Von Miller on our team at present. Von was picked #2 overall in his draft behind Cam Newton. Do we even have a player drafted in the top 10 on our team? Our pass rushers are over 30 and one missed the entire season after the first game. The only #1 pick we have that has played to that status is CJ Mosley and even he had a sophomore slump. Elam was bust, Perriman out all year. Will believe it when I see it.
  9. Wade Phillips was with Kubiak in Texas and they eventually self destructed. That's how we got Kubiak. We will see how long it lasts?
  10. Antonio Brown was a 3rd round pick. AJ was a 1st rounder. Steelers always find good receivers and do a better job drafting them than we have. I would be shocked if Ravens draft a receiver in 1st round. I think a LT or CB personally.
  11. We need to stay at #6. We have enough draft picks and that is assuming we pick well this draft. Only CJ has been worthy of our #1 the last few years. Sorry, Elam was a bust. Perriman did not play and he remains to be seen. Having lots of compensatory picks hasn't helped either because look at where we are now, picking #6 cause we sucked a good portion of season. Not the drinking the kool-aid anymore.
  12. Let me see a Defense like 2000 one more time in my lifetime. In the end it's Defense that wins championships. How many years do we have to watch our Offense flounder with their notorious slow starts? It's Defense that keeps us in those games.
  13. Where have you been? They gave him a huge contract which he has not lived up too. He isn't even worth what we traded for him. Work out warrior but always hurt. Only year he played well was half of 2013. Sucked otherwise. Sorry, Oz made a huge mistake signing him as if he were a top 10 left tackle in the league. Not sure if they will cut him this year because of the dead money? Add him to the list of bad trades and bad draft picks and there you have the 2015 Ravens.
  14. Refs threw this game. Granted Burfects personal foul for hitting Antonio Brown but the call on Pac Man for shoving Joey Porter of Steelers was just wrong. No Steeler coach should be on field inciting that response.
  15. The FO is not responsible for the injured players but they sure are responsible for poor draft picks and lack of production from the other guys. Who picked those guys Matt Elam? Bust. Arthur Brown, Bust. If not them then who? They picked them and maybe we should have done our due diligence?
  16. I too think the Ravens need to take a bruising back somewhere in the Draft- Derrick Henry or Dalvin Cook would be nice.
  17. Honestly their still the Bungles. They maybe great with regular season wins but it's Choke time for them now. This is where they start crumbling. Last Monday night was an example. We are whole different team now and who knows we just might upset them too. GO RAVENS!
  18. Need to draft better to get Pro Bowl players. We were exposed in Preseason in Philly. Should have known then what the season would be like. So much for our well conditioned team. Bunch of hooey. We have so many holes to fill it will take more than one draft to fix. Makes me sick Pittsburgh coming to town and we are 10 point under dogs in our house. Hoping for the best today but expecting worse.
  19. The Ravens are still my Team, Win or Lose. I am not as emotionally invested in other teams as I am with the Ravens. This year has sucked no doubt but have to take the bad with the good and the Ravens have given me lots of good to suffer through this bad spell. Just hoping we can fix our problems soon!
  20. We shouldn't feel bad about Perriman. After watching Buffalo and New England and looking at what the Bills gave up for Sammy Watkins and to not even get the ball to him was pretty pathetic. New England obviously has a plug and play system. They keep losing guys but their backups seem to come through or maybe that's coaching? Look at Malcolm Butler undrafted and playing lights out. Even our #1 cb isn't playing that well.
  21. This is what happens when you over pay for Eugene Monroe. Dude is getting paid like a top 10 LT and I am sorry he is just not it. He always hurt and then we have back ups like James Hurst playing. Now Flacco has a serious injury all because Eugene can't stay healthy. Time to cut Monroe and draft a LT.
  22. Jameis actually has receivers that can catch the ball - Evans, Vincent Jackson, and Martin has run for over 200 yards.
  23. Dalvon Cook or Henry in the 2016 Draft will solve the running problem.
  24. That's why you need a crushing Defense. So they can make them pay and punish the opposing team and win despite the Refs bad calls. That's the way I remember the 2000 Ravens. We punished people and had our own justice.
