  1. Being Jensen's last year as an ERFA, he will not be content nor would it be wise for him to be in the role of a back up player. He left last season as the tenured starter at LG. I think it is his job to keep or lose. Urschel, while very intelligent and able does not have the "Mr. Nasty" factor your left guard needs. Jensen also has a quicker first step, and is explosive into the second level when blocking. His attitude and athleticism will serve Flacco and our running game well. I predict he has a big year and is not polishing any pine.
  2. Exactly. He wasn't targeted enough. Had 450 yards or so.....and only two touchdowns. Not being utilized for his strengths. We need a good deep threat to stretch the field. Perriman healthy and signing this cat.......Joe has some options.
  3. Loyalty runs both ways. Teams cannot afford loyalty and neither can the players. NFL means "Not For Long". Injuries, constant player turnover, talent influx every year. You have to get your payday when you can get it and take it. Everybody in the NFL, players, coaches, owners........all understand this and have their big boy pants on. They realize the reality of careers ending in a single play.
  4. Our O-line was ranked 3rd vs. pass rush. Not bad at all. Room for improvement? Sure. I seriously don't know how Denver is where they are with their O-line....I am surprised Ostwelier and Manning are still walking at this point. Cincinnati's O-Line is "meh" as well. I watched quite a few games this season and tried to focus on the OL play. Ours rivals most, if not exceeds most. I think consistency gels from the same 5 guys playing multiple games together and gelling as a unit. I have high hopes for the OL going forward into next year. I know things are unsettled due to quesitons about KO and Monroe. We have some young talent that put together some decent games at the end of the year. I hope that chemistry is there next season as well and starts solidly in camp. I think KO is going to stick. Thinking more about it, I have a feeling OZ doesn't let him walk without a hard attempt to keep him. I think Monroe will not be here next year. We will need an additional LT in the draft to develop and challenge our incumbent (at this point, I think KO is that guy). Urschel will find himself battling with Jensen and Zuttah for either spot (LG or C) for the starting role. I think the depth we have at the OL will bode well for us next season. The guys doing the battling all have starting experience, have played well overall, and look to provide Flacco with great protection next season. May the best man win!
  5. I see an 11-5 Season with a wild card berth next year as highly possible. I think we split with Pittsburgh, Cinci, Loss to NE, Upset in Dallas, and a hiccup against one of these three: Jets, Giants, or Cleveland. Just having fun, so don't blast me too hard!!
  6. Bosa would be the best pick. I somehow doubt he's still on the board by the time we are on the clock. Stanley may still be......
  7. Perriman and Aiken need to keep coming on strong. With Steve back, these two will benefit from his presence and instruction. Steve will carry the load without complaining, but having other strong targets will help him stay on the field deep into the season. That's what is really needed! Need Steve around late in the year!
  8. Exactly. SSS is a very much needed presence on the field and the sideline. Aiken under his tutelage will just continue to flourish, and the two of them will give Joe the reliable, tough targets he needs. Very happy he is coming back!
  9. err....didn't he get flagged holding? Urschel will beat out Zuttah. I think Urschel - Jensen - Osemele looks pretty good!
  10. The only true opinion that matters, no matter who you are, is Ozzie, Harbs, and Castillo. If he's out there, its because he is the best man for the job. I watched some horrific line play this season. I would say this guy is on the rise. Osemele propped him on Twitter as well. He's out there doing the work alongside Jensen, so I would say he knows a thing or two about good line play. Thanks for your thoughts!
  11. The guy pro football focus ranked as the best player in his position for week 16.......... Ryan Jensen.........+7.4. That is highest score for the Guards this week......in the NFL, sans MNF. The unnecessary roughness call was for pancaking a guy...go figure that one out. The false start....yep, that wasn't good. Overall, I'd say he was solid.
  12. I agree with this right here ^. They are using him to fill a void and giving him the chance to earn more $$$ when he hits the FA market. Zuttah will be here for camp. If Urschel remains healthy and continues to show his capabilities at Center, then Zuttah will not be on the 53 and gone. Jensen will be your new starting LG, and can slide to the inside if Urschel is injured. Meyers, if he starts acting the part of a team player can back Jensen @ LG and if he shows promise should move up to the 53 after camp next year. If Meyers doesn't progress, I see him taking a walk. We need to draft a LT, and also another G in the late rounds to push Meyers and Jensen. This is going to come down to dollars. KO will demand too high a price. He is on the block and it will be better for him and for us in the long run.
  13. Harbs said it best yesterday: "I think Ryan has played well, but not as well as he CAN play. He has had some good games for us and some good outings. he had some really good plays in the game, and he had some plays he'd want to have back, certainly. I am looking for improvement - looking for improvement from everybody- and to see what we can do out there on Sunday with that Offensive Line. But I like those guys. I LIKE Ryan." That's why he is still here. He sees his potential. I am very interested to see how he performs on Sunday vs. Chiefs. Offensive lines are like a small flock of birds. They have to work together, and get their collective timing and footwork coordinated. The more they play at game speed, the better they will gel. I think the remainder of 2015 will give them that opportunity. Just my $.02
  14. Very true. I am sure both look at film and say I missed that block. I have high hopes for them both. I think this situation right now is their chance to compile reps and improve their standing. Jensen had a rough start to his career with a broken foot and then the sleep apnea troubles. Urschel is showing improvement in his efforts at Center. I think both have great potential.
  15. I stand corrected. Urschel did get hit with a sack. No need to be condenscending
  16. Glad Harbs and Castillo see it differently. As I said, they need time to gel under game conditions. I've seen both make very good blocks as well. But all people tend to see is the bad. Human nature expecting perfection from others that would run circles around the critic....or plow them into the ground as the case may be.
  17. Did the "Matadors" give up a sack vs. Seahawks? Nope. Gotta figure that Urschel - Jensen - Osemele project will need time for these three to gel together. Jensen missed some blocks in the run game, but I think with some consistent game playing, he will improve. When you are "on again-off again" as far as being in the lineup, it is a little disruptive. Sounds like Harbs is going to run with this combo for the rest of the season. Give these three a chance to work together for a couple more games, then decide who is up to the task and who isn't. Side note is Jensen got place in the lineup vs. two of the best past rush defenses we've faced this year after getting just a few plays on ST. I look forward in seeing what he can do vs. Chiefs. I say give the man a little slack and see how he finishes up. Osemele is also adapting to working outside as well.
  18. Curious as to why you feel that way about those two?
  19. I think the OLine shakes out this way after the season: Urschel: Starting Center. Zuttah is not the future of that position. Wagner: Remains with the team. Ricky has upside and will continue to improve. His injury has affected his play this year. With some time off, that will change Monroe: He may have played his last. I see IR coming and Ravens drafting in the second round for a LT. Wesley remains as a backup. If Monroe is not available for the remainder of 2015, KO will shift over. KO: Done after 2015. Jensen will supplant him. He (Jensen) will get playing time in the last 4 games with KO shifting to LT due to Hurst's difficulties and my thoughts that Monroe will hit the IR soon. After the 2015 campaign, the team will cut ties with KO and move on. Hurst: Struggling and will have to drastically improve his Pass Pro or he may not survive OTA's next year. Kept for depth at best for now. D. Wesley: Will compete for RT vs. Wagner next year Meyers: Will need to change his approach to survive camp next year. Draft needs: LT (2nd Round) G ( 6th round) C (supplimental) or UDFA RT/RG (UDFA for depth)
  20. So let's recap: Jensen gets smacked and didn't do anything.......should he have retaliated and drawn a fifteen yard penalty? Sometimes being tough is about taking it and walking away. Any undisciplined fool can participate in a patty cake slapping session and it doesn't make you tough. How about no sacks, no hurries, and no knockdowns against their #1 draft pick? How about him busting butt downfield on every run play looking to make another block at the second level? Imagine your 50th or 60th snap and they send two-three guys into your gap. You think you're going to get pushed a little? Second NFL start. Pretty good performance if you ask me. Have you sat down and watched O-line play throughout the league? How about the O line for the Broncos? Ostweiler took some mammoth hits all through the game. He's lucky to be breathing today. I think we whine too much about our O line when all in all, we are pretty solid compared to many. Yeah, I know.....blast me with Forsett's injury and let's see who we can blame for Joe's injury. It's football. Players get beat. Players get hurt. Players miss blocks. Players drop passes. Players muff punts, throw interceptions, ect. ect. ad nauseum. What is all together important is the body of work that a player puts together and how they contribute to the team. We want perfection at every position it seems, and then howl when a player who puts together a great game and has one penalty......and then we throw out the whole effort as a failure. Do you live up to that standard at your workplace? In your life? Good grief, I understand getting frustrated with players. I've yelled at the TV multiple times for multiple things. But don't accuse an NFL player of not being physical because he doesn't respond like a pre-teen crybaby by engaging in an activity that will draw penalty yards, get him fined just to prove to you "he's a tough guy". Rewatch the game. Focus on any lineman you choose and really watch the battle taking place in the trenches instead of following the ball. It might change your mind about how physical our lineman really are. Peace.
  21. I hope this young OL with Yanda's leadership can have a great game. Keep Schaub upright and blow some holes for the running game.....
  22. How many Olineman should we keep on the roster, based upon what has happened this year? Harbaugh himself said that every one of our reserve OL players could be starters in the NFL. Do players that are not suiting up every gameday contribute to the team, or do we just need to keep a roster of 46 around? You've gotta have quality backups. Everyone bemoaned Reid. How long did he last on the waiver wire once cut. We keep good backups around and you need to. This thinking that a reserve player has no value or doesn't contribute is harsh. Jensen has been listed at Center, but if you were not paying attenion, he can also play any other position on that line if needed. He's going to get his chance.
  23. He's doing that today, right?
  24. Oh, you mean the guy that took 92 snaps in one game in the preseason, played LT which he hadn't played since college, and got complimented from Harbs and Newsome? I'd say they have faith. Positional rankings are earned during pre-season. Urschel right now is the next man up. Jensen will have the responsibility to cover for KO and Yanda if they have issues. Harbs indicated that Jensen proved he could play in the NFL. He started in game 3 of the pre-season, but fell to a concussion after 9 reps. I'd say there is faith enough. I would surmise that Urschel will need to prove that he can accurately snap the football. If he falters at that again, well..........next man up.
