  1. Miami eliminated the deep ball cause Ryan Tannehill can't throw deep... don't mention him in the same breath as Joe "Moment of Truth" Flacco
  2. look at the top ranked quarterbacks then report back to me how Flacco is paid YEAR by YEAR compared to those guys... I'll just do it for you: 2013: 17th highest paid Qb 2014: 12th highest paid Qb 2015: 15th highest paid Qb Next year is Flacco's restructure year when he is the highest paid Qb. He hasn't had a losing season and has won a playoff game every time he made it, 5/6 seasons... That is pretty BOSS. Flacco beat the Steelers and kept us in the Pats game. Nobody else! The defense lost the Pats game, so blame who you want... Flacco is the BEST player on our team at this point. Don't sell me on Jimmy Smith or Yanda... Flacco is the BEST player on the Ravens right now. Not many people would have a solid argument against that either. CJ Mosley is a freak and has huge upside... maybe, but no middle linebackers are carrying us to the Super Bowl...
  3. i used the word "leader" too loosely there... I'm referring to their experience as an NFL starter and how that can "lead" Elam to follow their habits and game prep. i'd say you're talking about a "locker room leader" vs an on the field leader, which I was referring to... but those are splitting hairs of split hairs.
  4. Amen to that! Upshaw is a tone setter on the defense. Without the set-up there is no chance for the big sack when he comes out on third down or 2nd and long... I saw someone call him "situational" on the boards, when he plays the snaps for Dumervil to come in on pass rush situations and go for the KO.
  5. id say our safety staff now is better than anything we had with Elam... which was my whole point. I don't put much stock into Ihedigbo as a "leader" if he hasn't started in over half of his NFL career games. You can call over 80% of people in the NFL "leaders" if you have that criteria. He is a journeyman that just recently got a starting job... I want a guy that has multiple years starting experience. How much can Ihedigbo REALLY teach Elam when he is learning the nuances of being a starter in the NFL himself? I enjoyed his play, he had good energy and stuffed the run... but how much can someone lead when Elam is flying by the seat of his pants trying to learn a position he hasn't played in college... He had some of the WORST busted coverages I had ever seen. I don't see how Ihedigbo could of fixed Matt Elams coverage and confidence problems. He needed a stronger presence that would know when to get in his face and when to motivate him. Justin Forsett was a "leader" in that regard of talking to young players, but his play also backed it up last year. I'm not as concerned with Will Hill, if Matt Elam is supposed to take his job eventually. The guy smoked some pot, it isn't hard to quit. You don't need someone in your corner like Rocky. I'd say about 50% of guys in the NFL do the same stuff that Will Hill does...
  6. what team could withstand 5 players going on injured reserve... all of which play one position. if a team lost 5 receivers through the course of a season do you think they would make the playoffs and beat the Steelers for the first time on the road, in the playoffs. I think were in a GREAT position considering we have a ton of people coming back from last year that got really good experience. Add to the fact we got a starting safety and a good slot corner who can be a #2 when needed. I don't see why people put so much emphasis on corner... We can afford to go another year without spending a first round pick on a corner.... Receiver was another story and we saw that when the Ravens got Maxx Williams and Breshad Perriman.
  7. They're named after the Son's of Liberty and the Boston Tea Party... New England just allows them to market to that entire area. But I agree the name as a whole is an oxymoron.
  8. He failed a few drug tests... big deal. I am more high on Kendrick Lewis, who has been starting for a while and played with Damian Berry in KC. Will Hill has lead by example by showing up in games. If he gets another negative test then so be it... To say he STILL needs help is a little off base, he hasn't had any trouble since he came to Baltimore. Everyone need guidance, Elam probably needs it more than Will Hill. I don't put much into Pro-Bowl selections. Kam Chancellor and TJ Ward were the only two Strong Safeties to make it... Ihedigbo made it because Kam couldnt go. He wasn't voted in because of his performance. Ihedigbo also had the benefit of playing next to Glover Quinn... who ACTUALLY made the pro-bowl through voting. So I'd hope he would have a good season with a pro-bowl Free Safety next to him, instead of throwing out two strong safeties like we had with Elam and Ihedigbo... and he was a Band-Aid because we had NO reason to keep him since we drafted a safety in the first round. How is he not a temporary replacement with a one-year stint at starter?
  9. saying Upshaw is situational shows a lack of knowledge of the Ravens defense... Dumervil is the situational player!! He thanked Upshaw on many many occasions because he does all the dirty work that allows Elvis to come in on passing situations and work the bull rush. Upshaw is not dispensable. He is our swiss army knife... he laid THE BIGGEST hit I had ever seen, and it just so happened to be on Ben Roethlisberger. Dumervil won't be around forever so how are we replacing Upshaw... who can play multiple positions. I'd say we are getting an heir replacement Dumervil who just so happens to mirror the play of Pernell McPhee.
  10. yeah i remember all of that... but I don't see anyone else clamoring for them now. James Ihedigbo was a Band-Aid. I didn't see him bringing Matt Elam along, considering he had his first starting stint with the Ravens. We had two strong safeties on the field with Ihedigbo and Elam, we couldn't afford to have TWO starters considering Ihedigbo was priced out and Elam was a 1st round pick. It'd be counter productive to sign a strong safety the season after we used a 1st round draft pick on one. Elam shamed himself ALL the time missing tackles and blowing coverages... Watching him cover in his rookie season was PAINFUL. Didn't help that we didn't have a free safety. Huff being a "veteran" was my whole argument... Elam hasn't had GOOD veteran leadership in the backfield. Kendrick Lewis is a long time starter in the NFL, so is Will Hill. Not a sub-package guy that's been around a while, like Ihedigbo. I had nothing against him at all. My whole point was Kendrick Lewis and Will Hill are a MUCH better influence on Matt Elam than James Ihedigbo, Darian Stewart and Michael Huff... They have actually started before coming to the Ravens. Don't argue Darian Stewart is a starter cause he lost his job to a 3rd round rookie. If you watched Stewart last year, he was the 2nd most frustrating player on defense behind Elam...
  11. a few years = 2 or 3.... he played here 9 years! same as Haloti Ngata... Shame on you! Jarret Johnson is a RAVEN! the lead picture explains it all, you wouldnt want to cross this man... but you can tell him and Suggs got along well. Both are insane men that are jokesters at heart.
  12. tomorrow Arrington will probably be signed since it's the opening of unrestricted free agent signing.. hope we can land him. He could instantly contribute and allow Pees to have some options at slot and #2 corner
  13. with good veterans behind him, Will Hill and Kendrick Lewis, he can play sub-saftey packages and play more in the box. He never had good leadership back deep... James Ihedigbo, Darian Stewart and Michael Huff?? We won't have to play him because he is a healthy body. We can use him strategically.. I'm more high on Terrance Brooks doe.
  14. she knew exactly what she was doing too!! Reed could of signed the tattoo and she would of had it stenciled there... she probably dipped instantly to get it filled in lol
  15. he wasn't undrafted doe..
  16. with that size and speed he should be able to produce as a red zone target or to set up some mismatches... hope he isn't another Tommy Streeter. I've been crushing with Perriman, Williams and Allen with updated Madden rosters. Waller is raw but we can send him on fly routes when the defense is playing one safety over the top... Had a sick bomb td with him from 50 yards out.
  17. I'm ready to see some football! Buck Allen, Carl Davis, Maxx Williams and Breshad Perriman will all be contributors. But who will be the biggest out of all of those rookies?? restaurant staff across the country will be looking out for Flacco when he comes to town. I saw he dropped a $150 dip on a $208 dollar bill. Straight BOSS!
  18. brady should get the hammer considering he didn't comply with the investigation.. conduct detrimental to the league.
  19. love to see that Magee was awarded the #18 for being the senior that most embodied what it meant to be an LSU Tiger on and off the field. Forsett would be a great mentor since they are both high character guys and have similar builds/running styles.
  20. that would off been too much to sacrifice for one player. We made the playoffs and almost got to the AFC championship game with a revolving door at corner back and a Ladarius Webb with a bad back. I'm sure with two healthy corners, Smith and Webb, with the plethora of corners that proved they can chip in when needed, Levine, Melvin, Jackson and Jacobs, I'm sure the Ravens were secure in going heavy on offense. Could you imagine if we had Jimmy Smith?? one position completely blowing up in your face is not enough of a reason to sacrifice a 3rd round pick to move up 15+ spots in the first round. We needed a pass catcher, two pass catchers! we seemed to found those two guys, along with some defensive role players that can carve out starting positions as they develop. Great draft, but even before the draft I didn't see the Ravens making a BIG move to grab a corner. They figured one would fall to them.
  21. I find that odd because he light up some quarterbacks in his highlight tape... he didn't get any sacks but you could see the qb rushing his throw knowing a 6'5 320 pound giant is about to crush you. I was like a giddy little kid watching him crush quarterbacks. For a player to have that tenacity in college, where you can get thrown out of a game for a hard hit, was impressive. He is HUNGRY and wants to drive pain into the opposition. Him next to Williams and Jernigan is SCARY!
