  1. They couldn't bench him because he was the starting fullback, but I'm sure he got a lot of attention for that. You can teach ball security, he played at a lower college level and didn't play much behind Vonta Leach his rookie season. So I'm sure he just needs to adjust. I've seen him cover up and lower his shoulder. It was just when he was attempting to get a td at Cleveland and he was holding it like LeSean McCoy, away from his body, one handed. So if he doesn't show promise he can get the boot next year or get benched if he has a problem with the amount of tight ends we have. Maxx Williams would be interesting back there. He can block and is a player defenses need to look out for. Motion him around and he can do a play action wheel to the opposite side of the field and walk into the end zone. San Francisco and Seattle runs plays like these when the defense commits to the bootleg and one guy gets lost behind the line. Juice could be that guy but I want to see him run people over, not juke em out.
  2. one fumble in college so I wouldnt be as concerned as you are... dude can stretch the seam, turn passes to the flat into big plays and seal a gap as a blocker. He was a tight end in college... and ball security isn't that hard of a concept to teach! He is a pro bowl full back and is only going to get better... last year was the first season seeing action as a receiver. 19 people had 3 fumbles last year, Leon Washington similar numbers. 15 had 4 so it's not like you should cut someone if they fumble a few times in the course of a season... especially someone who was essentially playing their rookie season last year because we had Vonta Leach mentoring Juice. They didn't put him in the dog house for that, I'm sure they are working on his ball security a lot this offseason.
  3. i done forgot about dre... oops, i mean Juice. he should have a BIG increase in production. he creates matchup problems with outside linebackers/defensive ends in the flats and can get us that quick big play when the defense is caught blitzing.
  4. hope he can add to the defenses cast of weapons... each position has a viable back-up that can come in on sub-packages or to give someone a play off.
  5. Brent Urban will probably be a feel good story, so will Kapron Lewis-Moore.. if they get a few sacks. Look for some Gruden shout outs!
  6. i find it amazing we had three players invited to the Rookie meetings... seems like a small group went and to have 3 on our roster is pretty telling of how the Ravens operate!
  7. his rookie weight was 256... adding 19lbs is yolked up for sure! Williams and Gilmore make some crazy match up problems... you want to put your more athletic guy on Williams, but Crockett will pick on the other guy. And vice versa.
  8. imagine how good he will be once we settle down! he has been waiting for this West Coast system that allows him to post some numbers... not INSANE numbers but we will win with Flacco's arm over the running game.
  9. that'd be a really cool campaign, showing the "toughest men in the NFL" being vulnerable and emotional... while being a man. It could be as simple as billboards. Almost like ripping off this commercial... one of my all time favs These images would challenge people to call out others who are quick to comment negatively... There was another powerful commercial of a young man at a party sitting alone as he heard a guy pressuring a girl to drink and it has the message about being a man is seeing it and stopping it and the kid gets a real serious look and gets up off the couch and it fades to black. The trailer was powerful. People who posted those negative comments probably didn't even watch the video.. which is sad because it is meant for them!
  10. Forsett had 235 carries last year.. in 2013 Matt Forte had 289 and then 266 in 2014. Even factoring in the fact that it is Matt Forte, you can see he likes to run the ball a lot. We will go vertical and down field to our tight ends more... Williams is a seam buster and Crockett seems like a viable option that can fool some defenses. He embarrassed Worilds on his touchdown against the Steelers in the playoffs. Talk about mismatches... a 6'6 260 and 6'4 250 tight ends and throw in Nick Boyle at 6'4 268 Our rookies look NFL ready, Crockett needed to put on some muscle mass and I'm sure he did that over the past year. Look for more screen passes, something the Ravens only do for running backs, which will also increase. These plays are a big part of game planning and burning the defense when you know/think they are blitzing... Perriman and Steve Smith can do well in those situations, so can Campanaro and Aiken with their qualities as tough runners.
  11. How good do you think a sub-package player off the bench should be? I didn't say he would lead the NFL with interceptions! Last season our defense only had 11 interceptions... Corners only accounted for 3 of those! Webb, Jimmy Smith and Danny Gorrer. Adding a guy that averages almost 2 picks a season over the last 4 years should make you a little excited... Those are important pieces, no matter how small! I never said god send either, you looked too much into what i said from the beginning... i said it SEEMS he is an amazing sub-package player who made the most of his opportunities. I looked at his stats and thought that was impressive considering he was coming off the bench. the colts traded a fullback for him so I'm sure they got the better end of that deal. He is an upgrade over Cason, Franks, Ross and any other "bum" we signed last year.. He isn't a "god-send" but he is part of a plan if something goes wrong in Baltimore at corner. Despite that happening, he can still provide snaps for a defense.. which he as done over the past few years. He hasn't fizzled out of the NFL so I take more stock in him entering his 6th season in the NFL as an undrafted corner with those numbers. I'm sure the least of his worries are making the 53-man roster... he wants to know how many snaps he will get.
  12. Boldin makes a lot of people look silly, so I wouldn't take much stock in that. He had good coverage and Boldin reached through his arm catching it and had his arm in-between him and the ball... He scored every touch down where I sit by the tunnel. So because Boldin Moss'ed him he isn't a good corner? There wouldnt be many left in the league at that measuring stick. .... UPON FURTHER REVIEW: Boldin had 5 receptions for 145 yards and ONE touchdown. And he moss'ed Darius Butler #20... Vaughn was #32 1297360262471_ORIGINAL.jpg Boldin beat him on a double move but he recovered really well, the analysts even said it was just a perfectly placed ball. So it WASNT this guy!
  13. Referring to him as a "bum" is a little off base as well then. Seeing that he isn't a number 2 corner... he has made the most of his playing time getting 2 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, 7 interceptions and two pick sixes over 5 years. How do you consider someone who has produced in the NFL as depth? Chuck Pagano was comfortable enough using him as his #2 corner back when they made the playoffs. I love Melvin because he is the prototypical size as a starter... this guy is a slot sub package dude. Which was my whole point. I said IT SEEMS he is an amazing sub package player from his stats... so dissect what you want, his numbers tell a different story. He's gotten 7 picks over the last 4 years coming off the bench. Being a part of a good secondary does mean something... It promotes a winning attitude and I'm sure the "bums" you're referring to landed in Oakland or Tampa Bay or another "bum" team. I said he has good taste.. Broncos, Indianapolis, Detriot with Caldwell and now the Ravens. He was on the Broncos team that carried Tim Tebow to the playoffs. Top 5 defense. But hey what does any of that mean...
  14. He's already our 4th best option at corner.. He has played next to great corners and has been on winning teams. It seems he is an amazing sub-package player that can step up when needed. Something we desperately needed last year!
  15. surprised how he wasn't signed earlier! He has consistently gotten picks and defended passes over his career. pick six on Philip Rivers and added 2 defended passes to that game... He's picked off the Titans 3 times in two years, and got a pick 6 return when the offense had their heels to the end zone... so that shows he has awareness to make the play. Wouldn't be surprised if he and Arrington split some time. He is part of a winning tradition and has made the playoffs the past few years playing for denver, then indy and then the Lions... he obviously has some good taste in organizations.
  16. i love hearing Taliaferro has his NFL body... he was already looking like an NFL player. You can tell the Ravens draft guys that "look" like Ravens. I remember Harbaugh gushing with Trestman saying, "these guys look like a bunch of NFL players." Cant wait for the season to start!
  17. same theory applies to people admitting they got dunked on... will never happen! I think it is impressive, they are focusing on fundamentals and can still push back. I saw Buck Allen collide with two defenders on an option route and he shoved both of them several feet off him. Brandon Williams has been around long enough to let that happen to him... dude got pancaked. The lineman can still get some full speed reps in... Boyle and Z. Smith were locked up at rookie camp. The coaches like some tenacity, you practice how you play!
  18. If Perriman is touching 1,000 yards then he would be considered a #1, but I don't see a major drop off from what Torrey gave us last year. Minus the touchdown production of course cause that was just crazy.. Torrey frustrated me more than ever last year, he should of been a 1,000 yard receiver and was thrown to for most of Joe's picks last year. I hear you though, Perriman is already slotted to be in the mix for a #2 or even the #1 if he can produce out of the gate. Torrey was probably behind Jacoby too at that point.
  19. this offense is going to be sick next year... With the blockers we have, even at wide receiver and tight end, Perriman will tear up the field on screen passes. Just give him the ball with some blockers out front and let the defense tremble! I'm sure Trestman started drawing up some for him right after we drafted him! Allen too.. I love his running style. We have a three headed monster at running back. Speedster Forsett getting lost behind the line then breaking off a classic 15+ yard td run breaking a tackle from an incoming safety. Big mauler Lorenzo Talliaferro coming in on short yardage situations and rumbling down the field running the zone, once he gets going into the second level... I don't like a safeties chances trying to stop him with a full head of steam. Then Buck Allen bringing the best of both worlds and the added pass catching ability... I also like LSU running back Terrence Magee... senior player who mirrors Forsett a lot. He was awarded the #18 at LSU his senior year because he displayed the most qualities of what it means to be a "Tiger" on and off the field. This years Bobby Rainey! You can't rest when we are on offense... those guys will set up the passing game for us.
  20. when he makes a play then just shout, "DOOOOOOOOOOOS" (two in spanish) Dos Equis.. (XX) just throw up the X's
  21. can't wait for this new era of defense to set in... we have a top 5 front 7 and we have yet to see what they look like! Timmy Jernigan needs to stay in Bmore.. dude has the swag ravens fans love and is hungry to make up for last year. Him and Williams with Davis will be a force to be reckoned with. I don't see much running lanes open with those guys clogging the holes and Cj Mosley, Daryl Smith and Courtney Upshaw stuffing the lanes that DO open.
  22. if the score indicates kicking an extra point has NO value then I see coaches opting to go for 2 to put games away. score is 10-15.... losing team scores a touch down, and lead by a point. You would be fired if you didn't go for two in those situations late in the game. It will eliminate a teams chance to kick game tying/winning field goals by going for it when there is no value in the 2-points. Idk if a coach will be as gutsy to go for 8 points to try and seal a game.. teams would have to score twice, but there is way too much risk involved if you fail. So the biggest thing this does is changes the approach to the scoreboard even more. Making more competition can eliminate the amount of field goals that change games by making them not an option late in the games.
  23. thats the thing i stuck on... the penalty would apply to the 2pt attempt too. That'd be the biggest misstep in sports. You couldn't apply that to any other play. jump offsides on a field goal attempt then opt to go for it from the original spot? Eisenburg shoulda left that chunk out... why would that be the case? makes him look foolish saying that.
  24. I don%u2019t know about you, but if I%u2019m coaching a team looking at a 48-yard extra-point attempt, I%u2019m thinking hard about ditching the idea and going for two, since the ball spot for two-point attempts was not moved and will still be the 2-hardline. Eisenberg... If you got a 10-15 yard penalty... your 2-point conversion won't stay at the 2-yard line. You will move back to the 12 or 17... hardly a makable attempt at a conversion from over 10 yards out.
  25. shouting to Decosta... You tryna make a trade?! We already got Arrington and still have ammo to grab another one.
