  1. What does that mean?? The Cayenne is an amazing vehicle and the interior is the best I've ever seen in a SUV. I just couldn't get past the new designed exterior and the Rover is a better offroader and severe weather vehicle.
  2. Back from the dead... The Mercedes is GONE. Purchased a 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged on Saturday night. Arrives at the dealership Wednesday (had to bring it in from another dealer). Stornoway Grey exterior and Ebony interior with contract stitching. Vehicle is loaded with the exception of adaptive cruise control/brake assist- which I did not want. I also did not want the rear entertainment system but every Sport model on the face of the earth has it so I didn't really have a choice. Deal worked out really well- with the trade in I financed exactly $8,370 for 12 months through my credit union. Chicago winters here I come! EDIT: I test drove the Cayenne, Rover Sport Supercharged, Mercedes M and the GX. Couldn't stand the M or the GX, the Cayenne was fantastic but I didn't like the exterior. Settled on the Rover- which I fell in love with.
  3. Ride in them? My father owns a ZR1 and he used to own a 2002 and 2006 Viper Coupe. I've put a few hundred miles on all 3. That being said, I've DRIVEN them. Like I said, performance wise... the Viper maims the ZR1. The Viper wasn't designed to be a nice Sunday sports car. It was designed to be a all out track car that you can legally drive home and park in your garage. If you want a comfortable car with power steering, ABS, cool air conditioning and won't require a visit to the chiropractor after a spirited drive... then you want the ZR1. If you can't zip the zipper on your pants because your cojones are so big, you sweat bullets when it's 30 degrees outside, and you once beat up Chuck Norris... then you want a Viper. The point you were trying to make was about performance figures, not drivability.
  4. Are we talking on a track or 1/4 mile? A quarter mile means about as much as my arm pit when it comes to a cars performance figures. On a track a Viper smacks the ZR1 around like a school girl. On the Nürburgring (for those who don't know, it's THE racetrack all car companies use to benchmark performance figures)... - Viper ACR ran a 7.22, which by the way was the fastest time ever for a production vehicle - ZR1 ran a 7.26. Winner: Viper BUT... if you want to play the 1/4 game. - Dodge Viper (NOT EVEN THE ACR) 10.92 seconds - ZR1 (I should be doing the normal Corvette, but just to prove a point) 11.2 seconds Winner: Viper ACR Breaking: Viper ACR Skidpad: Viper ACR 0-60: Viper ACR 0-100: Viper ACR 0-100-0: Viper ACR Shall I continue?
  5. It's a 16 cylinder, 4 turbo motor making actually around 1100 horsepower, it's under-rated from factory. FIrst car to break the 250mph mark. It needed the power because at 200+ mph it uses most of the power to push through the wind and not actually power the wheels. The car is a work of art, each piece specifically engineered for high speed travel. It uses carbon fiber, kevlar, gold, titanium, 2 diamonds, 10 radiators, makes 1.3g's at full breaking, 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, top speed of 253mph and only 200 have ever been produced. Best of all, it will outrun a F-16 taking off at a dead standstill... giving the jet fighter a 2 second head start.
  6. Spotted this yesterday in LA, surprisingly small. About the length of a Honda civic and about a foot shorter in height. Wide as hell though. I was just shocked how small it actually is in person.
  7. Feel free to split my payment if you'd like! Only 19 more to go.
  8. 95' 740iL in silver... quite possibly one of the best looking cars of all time. A shame a new BMW's look like crap. I ordered the Hennessey 6.3L engine software update about a week and a half ago, arrived yesterday. I had them ship me a new core and I'll mail the one out of my car back once I do the instal. Pretty painless procedure, couple screws and three wires With my exhaust and headers combo it adds roughly 35hp and 40lb tq. Going to be doing 2 dyno runs next weekend. Should put me around 600 horsepower and 560 lb torque. According to TorqueStat (plug and play gps performance calculator, it records as you accelerate) I pulled 0-60 times yesterday, which are 100% accurate, of 4.02, 3.96 and 3.92. I wonder how the numbers will be effected after I upgrade the engine software. Not bad for a 3,800 lb 4 door luxury sedan.
  9. The GNX, eh? My buddy used to own one. Thing was deceivingly quick. Then he sold it and bought a Mercedes 500e. Quite possibly the best car I've ever driven. For those who don't know what a 500e is-- MB and Porsche got together to make a sports oriented sedan. Porsche brakes/suspension, AMG engine, PERFECTLY laid out interior and it went like stink. MB also under-rated it's power and skidpad. They reported 0-60 in the low 5 second range, some owners/magazines were hitting 4.2-4.5s. AMAZING car. Truth be told, I've considered trading in the e63 for a AWD vehicle. In a few years I'll be moving to Chicago for my specialized residency and I'll need a vehicle I can drive in snow.
  10. I miss turbo engines- the sudden kick of the engine, the spool of the turbo- I miss it so much. Especially my little turbo GTI I had when I was younger, that car was a hoot. More than anything I miss having a manual transmission. But, I quickly found myself getting used to 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and 518 lbs tq of naturally aspirated v8 sweetness-- and believe it or not, once I got used to paddle shifting... it's not half bad.
  11. HP and TQ numbers don't matter in a truck as much as WHERE the power is available in the RPM band. You could have a truck that makes 700 lbs TQ but doesn't peak until 6k rpm's... so it's useless as a towing vehicle. Just to prove a point: The F-150 has the weakest engine, yet it tows the most and tows it faster off the line to 70 mph.
  12. Fun fact- in order to buy a brand new 2000 Cobra R you had to have and show SCCA racing license (minimum of a regional racing license) before you could even buy the car. A copy of the racing license even needed to be photocopied, sent to Ford and verified before you could drive the car off the showroom floor.
  13. Problem with the Dodge, Silverado is the torque and towing. They make all their torque at EXTREMELY high rpm's, making towing off the line absolutely appalling. F-150 makes 90% of it's torque at 1,700 rpm's while it takes the Chevy and Dodge 4000 rpm's. Granted, Silverado is a better looking truck exterior wise... but the F-150 kills the competition interior wise.
  14. Both recent GT500's have SVT emblems all over them. My 08' had 12 to be exact. Technically speaking, according to Ford- the Raptor, GT500 and SHO are SVT models (all in production currently).
  15. The F-150 tows more, carries more, has more interior/exterior options, has a better engine/transmission, better brakes, completely flat behind the front seats, better frame, better crash safety ratings, better suspension, longer intervals between service and is worth 20-30% more when you go to sell it. Ford > Chevrolet > Dodge > Toyota Ford F-150 is and always will be the best truck in it's segment. Motortrend truck of the year goes to WHATEVER truck is new that year. They do it every year. 2010 Ram gets a refresh - truck of the year 2009 F-150 gets a refresh - truck of the year 2008 Tunda gets a refresh - truck of the year 2007 Silverado gets a refresh - truck of the year 2006 Ridgeline is released - truck of the year 2005 Tacoma gets a refresh - truck of the year 2004 F-150 gets a refresh - truck of the year Motor-trend truck of the year is a COMPLETE JOKE- and anyone who uses them as a means of information towards a car purchase is a moron. Whomever refreshes their truck wins that year.
