  1. Did you watch the Squealers destroy the Skins by being a passing team? Or the Bengals destroy the Jets by throwing to AJ Green for 150+ yards against Revis? The old AFC North - run & play D is gone - if you don't have a passing game, you lose in today's NFL. See what happened to the Rams with one of the best RB and one of the best Defenses in the game - can't throw, can't win, can't do it. The Rules have changed - can't hit a WR catching the ball, can't hit the QB high or low, o-line can't cut block on running plays, etc - it's now a passing league, period. Yes, you still have to have a Run game and a good D, but you're not winning without throwing the ball more than running it. Just a small quibble with the poster's terminology. The Bengals beat the Jets with a last minute FG to eke out a ONE POINT victory. That's not exactly what I would call "destroying" an opponent. Otherwise I have no objections.
  2. Most of the Raven's rough spots during the Bills game on offense looked like a team getting its coordination back - a lot like you might see during an early pre-season game. This particular failing should resolve itself as the season progresses. Beyond the victory the most important goal was avoiding significant injuries which it seems we did.
  3. Check me out on my logic here. If we kept Camp on IR we would have to use up the one IR return allowed later in the year when he's healthy. But if we waive him like we did we could resign him later in the year and not give up that one IR return we are allowed.
  4. I was glad we won the game, of course. But for me the most exciting gratifying moment was watching Joe throw that 40 yard arrow catching Wallace perfectly in stride on the Bill's 35 yard line a yard or two in front of the pursuing safety resulting in an official 66 yard touchdown. I've been waiting for years to see Joe throw that accurately over distance and then have the fleet receiver run it on in for a TD. IMHO that was the prettiest pass I have seen Joe throw in a game.
  5. Please, not more of this again...if he get's another chance to play again, that's great to hear...but it doesn't change the fact he's a woman beater who repeatedly lied to the Raven's organization and the league front office...people just need to admit Rice threw HIMSELF under that bus. Wrong. Glad you look the other way at domestic violence and lying to your employers...Personally, I think he SHOULD get another chance to play in the NFL, providing he still CAN play. But i'll never bury my head in the sand and deny any and all the facts in his case. He's guilty - he's served his penance - he should be allowed to play football, if any team wants to deal with the backlash. He's admitted he did wrong - I don't know why some fan's can't accept that, when he has. The wrongness is in your recollection of the "facts" not in your opinions. You are entitled to your own opinions but not to your own facts, as Senator Patrick Moynihan once said.
  6. Any QB that suffers an ACL and MCL tear toward the end of the season (even midway) isn't going to be 100% in his first game the next. There's no way. Has he recovered phenomenally??? YES. Is he ready to cut and run in a gametime situation??? NO. Anybody that expected Joe to look like a probowl QB yesterday was fooling themselves. And during preseason Joe did admit to us that he still suffers pain in his repaired knee the day after practice. So all is not back to full functioning yet.
  7. yeah those situations are killing us already....??? So many problems today in the VICTORY. Fans like you are going to be why I stop coming to read amd make comments. We're only going to get better and better on O and D. Smitty working his way back, and Wallace and Perriman's chemistry will only grow. And Moore. Plus Pitta and Gilmore working their way back. Not to mention our best RB is working on getting healthy too. Then we'll be working Doom in, and Willie Henry, and the other young pieces on D. This team is going to get stronger and stronger every game will is very convinient considering the first half of our schedule is the softer end. No gimmie games in the NFL anymore though. Plus we clearly weren't trying to hold the ball for 4 seconds and chuck it 50 yards every time vs this blitzing D. It's called a gameplan for each opponent with the only objective being....get the W. We got the W. What team didn't have faults in their game today. NONE. give me a break. though I guess there will always be complaining pessimistic fans. Though I'm guessing you would refer to it as a "realistic" fan. LMAO. Have fun with that attitude You really shouldn't get so offended by other's comments. It's not worth it. Especially since you're not going to be reading or commenting on this site anymore. It's no big deal. It's just a game. You have a good point. A mild disdain for the dumb should suffice.
  8. Please, not more of this again...if he get's another chance to play again, that's great to hear...but it doesn't change the fact he's a woman beater who repeatedly lied to the Raven's organization and the league front office...people just need to admit Rice threw HIMSELF under that bus. Wrong.
  9. I'd also like to see what Judon can do even though he's just a rookie.
  10. Totally agree!! He's a very well-spoken and thoughtful man. I can see him in the pulpit or politics some day.
  11. Ozzie did ;) And maybe Justin???
  12. For us fans I think the "trust Ozzie" motto means we look a little silly challenging his decisions when we don't come close to knowing what he knows about the current player environment in the NFL, including our own team and players. So we "trust Ozzie" at the moment because there really is no other rational choice. If, over the years, he has failed to bring us winning football then we have a case. But he has - and we don't.
  13. In five more days and a wakeup everyone can forget all this obsessing about who is and isn't on the team. Then, of course, we will start obsessing about whether some play call was the right choice to make.
  14. In six days the battle between the fans will move to the battles between the teams, thank God!
  15. All this fretting by fans as the beginning of the season draws near reminds me of a father-to-be waiting for his wife to give birth to their first child.
  16. there won't be a trade for that high a pick - if at all - johnson will be cut in a few weeks and the rest of the league knows that too they just have to wait - if we get anything for johnson ill be surprised You're probably right. The thing that would make a trade possible would be if there were TWO teams in desperate need for a starting QB and no other available extra QB doing as well as Johnson at this time. With two teams going for one specific player the old saying "he who hesitates is lost" applies and the bidding war would begin. Doubt it will happen but it would be fun if it did.
  17. Brookes missed a fairly easy interception. More tennis balls for him!
  18. I agree it would be nice to hang on to Johnson. Nice for the Ravens, that is. But it might be a little selfish of us. Johnson has played so well he deserves a chance to start on some other team that's hurting in the QB department. We'd like to hide him but would that be fair for him?
  19. Mallet has been solid. The Ravens have two starting QB's. If Joe goes down again it won't be a season ending event. Agreed.
  20. I'm wondering if our enthusiasm for bigger muscles on the players means they are getting stronger than their tendons, which attach the muscles to the bones, can stand. That is what is happening in some of the cases like Watson's Achilles tear. His calf muscle overpowered the tendon that attaches it to his foot.
  21. Levine is turning into a player I want to watch whenever he's on the field. Things good for the Ravens seem to happen when he's running around on defense. He'll make mistakes, of course, but at least he's exciting. He's helping bring back the excitement we all used to feel when the Ravens D took the field. Keep him out there, Harbs, for the fans' sakes.
  22. You're right. Harbs can try out this idea all by himself without league approval. In a way he is already doing it this year. Just sit all the players you know are going to be your number ones and play the rookies to get them used to the greater speed of pro ball. Also play any other free agents and trades that you want to see further proof of their ability. Let any other players play who want to just to "knock the rust off" and let them take themselves out of games when they feel they've had enough.
  23. The magazine is titled "cigar aficionado", so smoking a cigar would probably not be considered abnormal. By the way, last I heard cigars are still legal, so what's the big deal if ray wants to smoke one occasionally? I love it when people try to shove their morality down other peoples throats...let other's live the lifestyle they want, not how you think they should live. well said, eze17 Poorly said, BrewsterAZ

I think the complaint about athletes advertising dangerous products goes to the issue of influencing our youth in bad ways. It's not a matter of illegality nor morality. Just trying to keep the kids safe from their own bad decisions influenced by adults who should know better.
