  1. If that was Will Hill spearing Antonio Brown in the back I'd have praised him for laying the lumber, so I can't really call it a dirty or cheap hit. He was doing whatever he had to do to keep Smith from getting a first down.
  2. I hope they keep him on the active roster. I would be good for him to get even a few real NFL games under his belt at the end of the year, if possible.
  3. The thing to watch will be rising star Brandon Williams vs their backup Center. He already demolished Bodine last week. Hope the Steelers don't plan on running up the middle.
  4. I wonder if it was a complete tear, partial tear, or just a cleanup procedure. There's a small chance he could play at the end of the year if it's more of a cleanup. Regardless, he should be back strong for 2016. Not sure why everyone is calling him a bust for tearing a knee ligament. I guess Manny Machado is a 2x bust.
  5. Wow, did not remember that violent stiff-arm by Boyle. He's the juggernaut, b
  6. How can you compare a bone bruise/sprained knee to a guy who fell down a flight of stairs and permanently lost his sense of balance. We never even got to see if Kindle's microfracture surgery was an issue, if that's what you're going for, and even that condition is not even comparable to a temporary malady like a knee sprain. Just ridiculous.
  7. I would really like to see more Camp. He is one of the few WRs on this team who can get separation reliably and who isn't named Steve Smith. He is actually pretty tough for a little guy too; he will hang-on to the ball after taking a hit.
  8. I would trade a 3rd for Alshon, even without an extension worked out ahead of time. If he left via FA, we would get a 3rd round compensatory pick in 2017 anyway. The only downside is you'd have to decide between franchising Alshon or Tucker at the end of the year (kicker is much more affordable). Given our cap room in 2016, we could afford to franchise Alshon, although I doubt Ozzie would want to.
  9. I guess I agree with you. Didn't give it much thought at first, but Hill is a SS, as we have seen the past couple games. Kendrick Lewis is about as average as I thought he'd be. Would like to see some more of Brooks, but he is coming off injury. FS is a big need. Having said that, I still would like a CB if the value meets our pick. I don't think Webb will be back in 2016. Arrington is an average slot receiver. Melvin seems like depth. Walker is an unknown. Will Davis is an unknown. We pretty much have Jimmy and then a lot of guys I'd rather not see on the field. DeCosta was thinking/hoping Marcus Peters would fall to us last draft, so I'm sure CB is still on their radar.
  10. I doubt we'll be in position to get one of the top two LT prospects, but if Tunsil or Stanley were there, I'm sure it would be hard for Ozzie to pass up. Finding franchise LT's is so hard to do drafting in the 20's every year. However, LT aside, I would rank WR, CB, and EDGE all pretty evenly. FS also a concern unless Brooks steps up. Have to keep G and OT on the radar for depth/future starters. A ROLB to potentially replace Upshaw and an ILB to potentially replace Daryl should be on the radar too. Hargreaves is probably my favorite player in this draft. Were it not for eligibility rules, he could have went pro last draft and been a top-10 pick. The most pro-ready CB since Haden.
  11. If we go 0-4, I think that's pretty much it. If you can't beat the Raiders or a Vick-led Steelers team with 4 days to learn the offense, who can you beat? If we can win these next two (Steelers, Browns), we're kind of back in the discussion.
  12. I'm with Joe. Beating the Steelers means so much more when Ben is there to smack around. We all remember Upshaw laying the lumber on Ben early last season. If that same hit is made on Mike Vick en route to a victory, would anyone really remember it? Maybe, but it certainly wouldn't be as significant in the grand history of the Ravens/Steelers rivalry. Beating a Vick-led Steelers team just won't feel anywhere near as fulfilling.
  13. Hopefully it's just a bad couple games. Jimmy has locked-down elite WRs in the past (AB, Green, BMarsh). I mean, every CB is going to give up receptions and first downs in Pees' system, but you can't allow your guy to get by you.
  14. I think there is value in hoarding comp. picks. Maybe Ozzie does it to an extreme degree at times, which can leave holes on the roster, but there is certainly value in having 11 picks instead of 7. If there is a year where we don't offer any good FAs to the market, then there will be no reason not to splurge in FA (other than the fact teams overpay for top talent in FA). If our only good FA next season will be KO, maybe Ozzie will feel comfortable signing one or more big-names. I highly doubt it, but it's possible.
  15. This reminds me of the time in middle school where this girl challenged me to an arm wrestling contest. As a boy, I was expected to beat her, and winning wouldn't have meant much. However, had I lost, I never would have heard the end of it. This is kind of how I look at this coming Steelers game. I would much rather play a difficult game vs Big Ben than completely humiliate Michael Vick. If we beat Vick, then there will be much less enjoyment because that's what we are supposed to do. If we lose, it will be completely humiliating. I lost that arm wrestling contest btw. Please don't lose this game, Ravens.
  16. I'm one of those people who wants to either make the postseason or get a high draft pick (and get Pees fired along the way). It's one extreme or the other. If we somehow recover and go 10-3 the rest of the way and get a wildcard, then cool, go Ravens. If we can't make the postseason, I'd rather eat dirt and get Bosa, Hargreaves, Tunsil, Stanley, or some other top-talent than go 8-8 and get a pick in the late teens. However, having said all that, I will always want to beat the Steelers, no matter what.
  17. I don't think you have much to lose keeping Perriman on the active roster, even if it means he won't return until after the Bye. I mean, do you really think whoever takes his roster spot if he goes on IR is really going to make a difference? Like, if they replaced Perriman with Butler, would it have been the difference between a W and a L in any of these games? I doubt it. I'd like to give Perriman even a few weeks of real game experience at the end of the season, even if it's in just a few meaningless games before the season ends.
  18. I agree with everyone who is being rational about Trestman. I was excited when he got here because he really knows how to design good passing plays. I also knew he would get away from the running game, but overall I thought, and still think, he will be a good OC. I think that with even an average #2 receiver we could have a pretty good offense. As it stands now, our only real playmakers on offense are SS89 and maybe Crockett Gillmore. No one else gets separation reliably. Also consider that we are limited by a lack of speed to stretch defenses and limited by our backup LT, who gives Joe less time to throw, and I'm willing to give Trestman some slack. I actually feel like we have a good chance to score quickly at the end of games with Trestman, which is not how I felt under Cam or Caldwell.
  19. Most of what anyone would ever want to know about NFL salary situations and team cap details: http://overthecap.com Asking about key FAs is always kind of the wrong question to ask when talking about Ozzie, since signing FAs entails sacrificing Compensatory picks. The real question is who will be next season's cap casualties.
  20. I'd welcome it by all means, but as others have said, I think some other level-headed team ran by a GM/Owner with half a brain would pick him up as a HC. Not Pagano's fault his GM ignores the O-line and defense. If Pagano wants to be a HC, he will be a HC. That might be because they violate the CBA and do contact drills when they're not supposed to lol.
  21. I think what troubles me most is that Jimmy of all people seems to be getting picked on by opposing QBs. It's not all Pees' fault, even if he does have all his CBs playing back most plays.
  22. I watched the game and literally thought the same thing lol. In TCU's defense, their secondary (well, really their whole defense) is ravaged by injury, and TT is excellent at passing.
  23. While we do have some very good players on D, we also have some major holes. Our #2 CB is a huge weakness unless Melvin can step in and be at least average. We have only Doom as our proven edge rusher. If you just double him, who else is going to generate pressure? Certainly not Upshaw or McClellan. Maybe Babin, but we have seen nothing from him yet, and he only had 2 sacks in 2014. I'm also not sure about Kendrick Lewis. There were some plays deep where I thought he should have been there to help, but he couldn't get there in time. Haven't seen enough of him yet, but I would still like to see some Terrance Brooks mixed into the safety rotation.
  24. This coming game might decide the season. A win will put us just a game behind the Bengals. A loss will put us at 0-3, three games behind the Bengals. That's quite a swing. It's a shame we are even in this position when you consider we are two Steve Smith drops away from potentially being 2-0.
  25. As others have said, this record is indicative of our struggles in the red zone. However, this record obviously isn't totally based on that. The fact we have a kicker who can kick game-winning 61 yard field goals gives him more opportunities to kick. Plus there is the fact he makes the most of his opportunities by being so accurate. I think he'll be a Raven for a long time--the next Stover.
