  1. There's a difference between dropping into coverage and getting into a passing lane, vs. struggling to cover a quick RB out of the backfield. I still doubt Mosley's ability to cover a quick pass-catching RB, since we haven't really seen him tasked with doing that yet.
  2. Am I the only one here who actually enjoys this dude's posts? If you take it for what it is--just some trolling from a division rival disguised as pessimistic fandom--then it's actually pretty funny. I actually look forward to his shtick. Every time he posts, I think to myself "oh boy, how are we going to lose this week?" lol @Ravenseconbeast is another one in this same mold, but he's not as funny.
  3. I've read some criticism of his mechanics really regressing this season. Basically they compared him to Tebow with the full windup baseball pitcher way of throwing the ball--that's why a lot of his balls were wobbling and off-target. Maybe he's worried about pressure getting to him and/or thinking he has to do everything for the team to win.
  4. Part of the problem is assuredly on Miles for somehow not recruiting a competent QB while stacking his roster at literally every other position. However, Cam definitely played an extremely simple offense, even simpler than what he ran here. He was very predictable and uncreative.
  5. You have a point, it was a well-located pass right in the back of the endzone. However, I think it's possible Jimmy doesn't get pushed out of the way and/or out-jumped so easily. Jimmy is more physical than Wright, so I like his chances better. Wright is 5'11", Jimmy is 6'2", Robinson is 6'3" --seems like you should have the more physical corner on the more physical WR
  6. Hopefully as comfortable as the last time the Raiders stopped by for a visit -- Really hoping Dumervil and Dixon are healthy for next week. We'd be basically 100% healthy with those two active. Oakland was nursing some OL injuries for this week I believe. That'll be a big area of interest as we watch who's practicing/who's not this week. Also excited to see Stanley on Mack. That'll be his biggest test yet. Oakland's defense was much-improved vs the Titans. Hopefully all that talent they bought in the off-season isn't starting to gain chemistry, though they probably are. Hopefully their defense struggles for just one more week.
  7. Made a signature bet with an acquaintance on another forum, since he's a Jags fan. He gets to wear this for a week:
  8. That's my opinion of this game. If we had a run game worth respecting, then we would get better looks in the pass-game. However, we get no push in the run game, holes are hard to come by, and so our 1st/2nd down runs go for 3 yards on average. Moreover, our RBs are nothing special; no one is explosive or particularly talented as dump-off receivers. In addition, if our receivers make some plays, we pick up more first downs (Wallace slipped on a 3rd down play; Perriman had a bad drop that would have given a first down early on; Pitta ran the wrong route it seemed, which led to a pick). Flacco did miss a couple throws deep in the middle of the field that would have been huge, but he was hardly the biggest reason for the struggles at Jacksonville. Trestman may have his flaws, but I thought he did okay vs Jags. A lot of plays left on the field came from poor execution imo.
  9. I'd bring Cam on as an offensive consultant just so we could fire him late-season and spark another SB run.
  10. Agree with the opinion that Jimmy should have been covering Robinson the whole game. That's a perfect match-up from a size, speed, and physicality standpoint. Should have put Wright on Hurns /w safety help (since he's a deep threat). That TD on Wright seemed like poor coaching to me. Especially when it comes to the redzone, put Jimmy 1 on 1 with Robinson, not Wright. Robinson is too physical, comparable to Colston or maybe Boldin.
  11. He's definitely exploded onto the scene this year, realizing the talent he always had. However, I still question his effort from the past season. Seemed like his head wasn't in the game or something last year. Regarding an extension, his performance from last year gives me pause; giving him a big contract could put his mind right back in that place he was last year when he was not playing to his potential. I want to see him play this whole season with this kind of enthusiasm before I consider extending him.
  12. I appreciated the stats on the run-game. Helped put in perspective how our offense has operated thus far.
  13. They should consider using Allen more for this upcoming game vs the Jags. Having a good receiving back catching passes out of the backfield could really test their LB corps and force them to play closer to the LOS.
  14. And the one vs Trestman's Bears a couple years ago...
  15. Ngakoue is actually with the Jaguars, and according to the Jags friend I talk to, he's a good pass-rusher and not a liability vs the run (though not as good as Fowler, who is the starter)
  16. He's on his 1-year RFA tender, basically the final year of his rookie deal. There's no telling where he'll be next year, but I suspect he'll leave if Perriman lives up to his potential, Wallace gets extended (since that cap-hit for year 2 needs to be spread-out), and Moore improves. Plus Oz may want him to hit free-agency to potentially receive a comp. pick.
  17. Value and need both matched-up for either Stanley or Tunsil. I wanted Tunsil way more than Stanley at the time, but Stanley seems to be a fine pick. Tunsil was a better run-blocker, but Stanley was more pro-ready, less injury-prone, and didn't have off-field issues (even if Tunsil's were very benign). Simply put: Stanley was the safer pick. If we don't draft a LT (like, if we got Ramsey instead), then we're probably using a stop-gap LT who isn't very good for this season.
  18. Man, their OL is going to be really banged-up when we play them. No reason we shouldn't get some serious pressure on Bortles this week. -that's assuming Beachum and Linder are both out
  19. Beachum possibly being out could really help things. Having Beachum allowed them to play Joeckel at LG where he wouldn't get exposed. Now I assume Joeckel be back at LT, meaning their LT just took a steep downgrade, and I assume whoever they play at LG will be a downgrade as well. With getting Dumervil back, maybe we can put some serious pressure on Bortles to help mask our secondary woes. Our interior pass rush has been pretty impressive; if we can get our edge-rushers going too, well, it should help a lot vs their high-powered passing game. Also worth noting is that the Jags friend I talk to was pretty critical of them not trying to pass deep so far this year. Our game plan is, run on 1st down for a 2 yard loss. Throw a screen pass on 2nd down for no gain. Force a short throw on 3rd and long for only 5 yards. Punt. over and over. Pretty sure we gave up some big long plays vs them last year... wonder if they'll start attacking us vertically. I guess it'll depend on if our pass-rush gives them time.
  20. I would say the more predictable thing is, whenever they pass for an incompletion on 1st down, they almost always run on second down. This goes for a lot of teams though.
  21. Chris Moore had shaky hands in college, and his Senior Bowl game was just awful. He's going to have a drop-rate above the league average throughout his career, most likely, but you'll accept that knowing that he's a big-play threat. Also, with how little Aiken is used, I think we can see why they didn't keep Butler. If Aiken can't find playing time, Butler had no shot being the same type of receiver.
  22. The catch 22 with these "trade bait" QBs is that your starter has to get injured for the backup to get some time to show his skillset--though not too much time, lest he get exposed for being terrible. Additionally, a lot of these "trade bait" QBs aren't going to fetch a pick remotely equal to what was spent to draft them. For example, Mallett was traded to the Texans for a conditional 7th round pick because the only good tape on him was from preseason, yet he was drafted in the 3rd. Seems like a waste of a pick when you could be using that 3rd round pick to actually bolster your depth at a position of use. The same will probably happen with Brissett. Jimmy Clausen was another high-pick turned trade-bait who never worked out. Brock Osweiler might have been good trade-bait or a QB of the future, but by the time he got a chance to play, he was an impending UFA--no value was really gained. It seems like the Kevin Kolbs, Nick Foles, and Matt Cassels (though he was a 7th rounder) of the world are few and far between--big trades for successful backup QBs are pretty rare. Those mid-round picks are better spent on positional players if you are only drafting the QB as potential trade-bait.
  23. Win's a win. I'd take a cake-walk to the postseason like the Pats get every year while happily ignoring everyone crying about SOS and being unproven. Fact is, all you can do is beat the teams you're given. Do it enough times and you'll make the postseason. It's a different sport, but the Spurs just won a championship a couple years ago after beating a bunch of bad teams and losing to the "contenders" during the regular season. Point being, all you need to do is get to the postseason--from there, anything can happen. If getting to the postseason means beating a dozen sub-500 teams while losing to the contenders, so be it.
  24. It's cool that we have so much depth, but I'd rather have 1 or 2 WRs who are so talented that you can't take them off the field as opposed to 5 receivers who are all good at different things, since you can only have so many receivers on the field at one time. I'd like for Perriman to emerge as that elite WR we've never had, but he's going to be eased-in slowly, and the jury is still out on how good he'll be.
  25. Not really an answer to your question, but I see two philosophies on moving on from a veteran QB. On the one hand, you can do what the Patriots and Cowboys have done, which is draft a project to eventually succeed your veteran QB (though Dak was called into action early, he would have sat for a year ideally). On the other hand, you can do what the Saints and Giants are doing, which is build your team in such a way that you add tons of talent to the roster and back-load a ton of contracts, try to be competitive for a few seasons before your veteran QB moves on one way or another, and then slash salary after you're done with them, which sets you up for a season of tanking to get your cap straight and tank for a high pick which will hopefully be your next QB.
