  1. I was at Camp Saturday, so I'll throw in some observations on things I noticed.

    1. These injuries are freak injuries. Unless the practice was toned down for the Saturday fans [ I don't believe that to be the case. ] these guys are getting plenty of rest between drills. I will add that the lack of hydration I seen was a little disturbing, seemed like nobody was hydrating and there was alot of cramps going on that I haven't seen reported [ Could be a case for these tears? ]

    2. Terrell Suggs is still fast. He came into camp overweight but he looks good now and quick, his spin move was pretty nasty to watch coming from a big man.

    3. Butler catches EVERYTHING and he seems very natural and at ease with it. His routes looked really good.

    4. C.J. Mosley and Daryl Smith make a great duo, they both were all over the field and I believe both came away with picks.

    5. Matt Schaub is ATROCIOUS. I fully believe that the only reason we picked him up was to use his brain because of his familiarity with the system. I'll say with confidence, I would rather have Tyrod Taylor backing up Flacco. Overthrows. Underthrows. Bad mechanics. Bad reads. No consistency with Schaub.

    6. Justin Forsett looks young. He moves like a young man, and his patience and quick step to acceleration is quite the thing to see. I'm very comfortable with him starting, and him catching.

    7. Buck Allen and Tali look great. Buck looks alot better blocking. Tali looks like a machine, he's punishing and a big man.

    8. Will Hill was very impressive. Didn't seem to miss a beat and was always around the ball. I believe he was also the only one not to get yelled at during ST drills.

    9. The punter brought in to give Koch competition isn't relevant. No worries.

    10. Crockett Gilmore looks like a star in the making. Great hands. Deceptive speed for a man his size. Clean routes. Catches in traffic.

    11. Camp looks GREAT. Crisp routes. Shifty. Good hands. No missteps in ST drills as far as returning.

    12. Arthur Brown did put some weight on, mostly in the legs. Looked a little lost during drills as far as LBing. He IS NOT a special teamer, looked pretty bad in ST drills. He looks the part, but doesn't seem like he's grasping the speed of the game mentally.

    13. Darren Waller needs ALOT of work. Physical specimen, but slow off the snap. Looks slow running, but the man eats up field with his long strides. Issues tracking the ball, kept his hands/arms very wide when attempting to catch backside shoulders and bombs.

    14. Justin Tucker and Koch are the Highschool goons. Those guys seemed like they were having a ton of fun throughout practice and drills. JT nailed his kicks. Looked good showing off his soccer - esque footwork. He can catch, really well. Showing off his one handed grabs and behind the back catches. All in good fun.

    15. Flacco looked sharp. Patient. Smooth. Great mechanics. If JT were to go down, don't count on Flacco making any kicks, after practice he was messing around and was attempting field goals.. missed all of them..but surprisingly made all of his drop kicks [ lol ].

    16. Kyle Arrington looked sharp, inside and outside.

    17. Rashean Melvin gave up a good bit. Looked frustrated with himself and the overall quality of his practice.

    18. Chris Canty is extremely vocal to the younger guys, acted part player part coach.

    19. Nelson / Steelman look like strictly camp bodies. Nothing too exciting or spectacular.

    20. Carter had a few nice grabs. Seemed very reminiscent to Camp.

    21. Nick Perry quietly had a quality day.

If anyone has anyone specific in mind that I didn't cover, or would like a little more detail on, let me know and I'll do my best to fill you in.

Thanks! You really covered everything. Any details on the battle between Brynn Renner vs Schaub?

  2. The most impressive play of the early portion of practice belonged to second-year defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, who on a run play during full-team plays pushed back Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda several steps before shedding him and taking down running back Lorenzo Taliaferro in the backfield.

Once again and it won't be the last: Jernigan is a STEAL

  3. It sounds like Asa Jackson just continues to fall down the depth chart.  Cassius Vaughn, Quinton Pointer, and Tramain Jacobs have apparently surpassed him if reps are any indication.

Could it be possible that the coaches are trying to keep him healthy exclusively for PR/KR?

  4. Guys, melvin was on a practice squad and went undrafted. He played pretty damn well considering. The person who said he will never be relevant obviously hasnt watched Melvin enough to fairly judge him. What people fail to realize is that Melvin was pushed into the fire at a young age with barely any game time experience. As a starter! If hes this good now, just wait until he gets the proper coaching and mechanics down. Hes definately got the size. Imagine him and Jimmy Smith. That would probably be the two tallest duo CB's. I didnt want this post to be this long but cmon give Melvin some time. If he played that well for a new team with no game time experience then he will be alot better. Just watch.

So true. It took him a week to get the playbook down and execute it. That's very impressive considering his inexperience and age. People shouldn't be so quick to judge because he went undrafted for being at a small-school prospect. Brent Grimes went undrafted and look where he is now.

  5. I was thinking he was Jacoby Jones-like, size, speed, position. He's supposed to be able to catch the ball but if that's an issue he could still receive kickoffs. Anywho lol I'm sure the coaches will figure it out.

And thanks for not neg'in me for asking a question.  ;)

Lol I didn't neg ur comment but if it makes u happy I can one up it so it cancels out ur negative. Anyways, I know what you mean, he has a lot of the same measurable traits as a guy like Cordarelle Patterson who also returns.

  6. Guys who can fill the voids

    1) DT Maliek Collins - Nebraska (this guy is really special, best part is he's a wrestler who went 48-0 in HS)

    2) OLB Dadi Nicolas - Vir Tech (definition of natural pass rushing ability)

    3) WR Corey Robinson - Notre Dame (6'5")

    4) OLB/ILB Terrance Smith - FSU (Versatile, plays special teams but I want to see more rushing this year)

    5) CB Zach Sanchez - Oklahoma (Size, ball-skills and most importantly tackling, also started across from our very own Julian Wilson)

  7. The Ravens are similar to the Los Angeles Lakers when Phil Jackson was coach. They have so many quality backups that have the potential to start.

We are the opposite of the LA Lakers who either trade for all their players or sign other big names to compliment Kobe. I think a Spurs comparison would be better suited where all their talent is homegrown, players are brought in to fit the system, management doesn't go splurging in the free market and are consistently good each season.

  8. lol neg my post if you want, but its true and you all know it. it always happens, we grow them and breed them so that they can have 1 big year and then go elsewhere.

I didn't neg ur post but I will disagree with you on this one. Yes, it is frequent that our homegrown talent leave, but Brown's situation is a little different from recent FA departees. This is Brown's third year and his contract will expire in 2016 but so is Daryl's contract, so picking up Arthur's 5th year option and then re-signing him is a must even if his price tag is heftier after a breakout year. Mosley and Brown are the future of the LB corp even if it doesn't seem that way right now.
