I honestly don't think conference matters in this case. Ozzie has definitely been eyeing the FSU defense for a couple years now after the stellar defense FSU had in 2013 when Ramsey was a freshman at safety and after we drafted Jernigan and Brooks in that same year. Statistically FSU and LSU have had the best DB prospects in the country since 2013 Draft with FSU having Xavier Rhodes, Joyner, Darby and LSU having Tyrann Mathieu and Eric Reid. I don't think there have been any notable Gator DBs since 2013. If a were Ozzie I think I would've lost some faith in the Florida Gator prospects after Elam, but that's just me. Anyways, having a good safety prospect is rare nowadays, but having a good safety who is versatile enough to be an exceptional CB is pretty much unheard of. Ramsey has the two traits you look in a good safety: tough and smart, but Ramsey's added bonus that makes him stand out and special is his intangibles (instincts and swagger). You can say that Ramsey's flaws is that he's not a ballhawk (which I will admit his hands aren't great, but with his athleticism he is bound to be a playmaker and cause turnovers) and that he gambles too much (but isn't that what made Ed Reed great?). Other than Ramsey's need to slightly bulk up, Ramsey is the prototypical safety with 6'1" frame who can blitz and cover and can jump out of the gym (the guy holds the third best long-jump in school history and could be on the Olympic team tomorrow if his heart very so pleased) which could be a valuable asset on special teams blocking punts and FG. Ramsey can be a game-changer (or -wrecker) on two fronts of the game (defense and ST) and has all the measurables and immeasurables. What more can you ask for in a DB prospect?
