  1. we all knew we would prob. lose to N.E.. I did, but it was really a no no game.. It mattered but it didn't we still have control from here on out. And it starts sunday at home vs Philly. and with Joe Flacco.. passes have to be on target receivers have to catch the ball and defense just has to be itself and ball out. I dot see any reason why we would not be able to run through these last 3 games and make the playoffs. I mean we have seen it a few times this year. when our fellas lock it down we can beat any team in this league. and I have that faith going forward, I mean hell, we swept pitt last year on the way to a 5-11 season. ad we are a much better team this year.

  2. Probably not the only one, but I'm not in that camp. Of course, he's past his prime ... if he were in his prime, he'd be a clear-cut top FA who would command big money. As it stands, he could be just the right fit for us ... savvy, experienced, tough as nails and a good model for Brown and the WR to be selected in the draft (I have to assume we'll get one).

We've been considering bringing in a vet WR all along, so I don't know that moving on Smith stops us from doing anything we hadn't already planned - except picking from the list of other FA WRs that have been known to be on the market.

Of course, it will still come down to price - but I'm pretty sure Ozzie won't just start forking over stacks of cash ... that's not his style. In that regard, it is not a done deal like so may wish to think, but I think it is a great fit and I hope we strike a reasonable deal and get him in.

well for me i don't like the smith idea, 2 reason 1. his attitude and locker room approach, we dont have ray lewis to bring him down to size or make attitude adjustments and if i  remember correctly he likes to place blame, on players coachs etc. we dont need that going on ecspecially if our season starts  going down a lil we dont need him knocking down players confidence.

    2. he's old.

How ever he may be old but he has gas left in the tank, so if we do pick him up, and from what i hear ozzie is doing the deal to get him (this is where ozzie excels) we'll probably get him as long as he can control his attitude he is a good fit for what the FO wants to do. just cause i dont like smith doesnt mean he cant play infact most of the players i hate in the NFL are really good and usually thats why i hate them (manning, brady etc.) but smith u know i do like how he plays but its all about his attitude it kills me for the guy.

  3. Just out of curiousity... what is your basis for thinking Boldin is worth a 3rd or 4th rounder? Are you aware of what we traded to get him 4 years ago? Why would his value of have gone up since then?

Also, since you are certain that he could have fetched that price, can you please provide me the name of the team that offered that price? I'd be very interested to know this, since nobody else seems to know. If nobody offered that price... wouldn't that tell you something? I mean I know its cool for fans to pretend like they have a clue what a players value is, but rarely are they ever even in the ballpark.

I'll give you a hint... the Vikings were the first one to come calling. The best receiver on their roster at the time was Jerome Simpson. They offered a 7th rounder.

Sometimes facts just get in the way of a good fantasy...

not aware of what we gave for him but i am extremely aware of the performance he gave in baltimore, i know i may be off the mark on what he was worth but based on the performance he gave in baltimore to me was at-least a 5 and 6 or a 4th alone. look at the quality of receiver he is, he doesnt catch every single ball that comes his way but i rank him up there with likes of megatron when it comes to contested catches in traffic and balls thrown off the mark, big, physical Wr. whom will make the play in the most clutch situations,it's hard to find good wide outs like that. That you could keep around. granted im not in the nfl as player or front office and know nothing about the economics of the business but as a fan i would have rather seen the ravens keep him for 1-2 yrs longer then trade for even a 3rd rounder had it been offered

  4. Who was the so-called no.1 on the Seahawks last year, or the Ravens the year before? Both won the SuperBowl with a solid receiving core. That's what matters, not the labels.

yea ur argument just fell apart on it's self simply because everyone knows Q was the number1 on the ravens when we won the superbowl, however the trade value did not show that he was ( com'on ozzie 6round draft choice, pls easily a 3-4) but every good fan knew it and so do u

  5. I'm the first to say that I think fans perceptions that coaches are the problem are incredibly overblown. Nobody cares about the value of a coach when you are winning. Players get the praise during the good, coaches get the disdain during the bad... I guess thats the business.

I will throw out this thought though, but I'm not really sure how relevant it is...

At what point in the almost 20 year history of this franchise has this team had a quality offense? Stop and think about it. Hasn't offense almost always been the issue with this franchise? We're on our 3rd HC, have been through dozens and dozens of players, had probably close to a dozen QBs, and have arguably never really had a legit #1 WR in franchise history.

This isn't a Harbaugh or Flacco problem necessarily. I'm not suggesting its all Ozzie's fault either, but its just something to think about.

i agree with about everything you said here, except for the fact of we shouldn't be blaming coachs, how many times this season did we see bad bad play calls in critical situations such as 3rd and long or 4th and whatever when we should be throwing or running or kicking the ball for points or punts, understandable we had a poor o line and and 2nd rate receiving core and alot of players were not executing the plays they way a PRO should be, however the all points to poor coaching in my mind and alot of other fans even tho it's not all the coachs fault, but a coach is supposed to take proper actions to fix the issues we had, from play calling to player rotation etc, and from what i seen that never happened at all this season, and i hate that.
