  1. do we really need size to hit ddwn field though? We have a 6'6 240lbs WR that can jump. I could imagine a good back should pass or a jump ball in one on one coverage could give the same affect.

well hate to say it, but if he could play well he would be out there. If he does make it i can see him being a decoy on 2nd and short situations. He was performing average against the saints 3rd string defense so i mean i dont know all about waller at this time. I really do think though that kamar will have a big game. We are going to need some screen plays on the left side to take some pressure off james trying to slow down mack every now and then and there corners are really not that good, and there secondary as a whole.

  2. @ January J: If Joe got the Ravens two 14pt leads and the secondary didn't hold it down for the Ravens because of all the injuries "WHY" throw the ball to Torrey with a "MINUTE PLUS" remaining on the clock making it the secondary job to win the game! Forsett had a good day why not ground and pound that minute plus for a TD?! And back to back INTs in denver denied the Ravens the win again! I can stand alone on this don't need brownie points just "WINS"!

1st of all joe did not throw back to back interceptions. 2nd u act like the second one was his fault were u even watching the game? I mean really bench joe flacco are you out of your mind?

  3. bennett is a full time 4-3DE and one of the premier players at that position.

mcphee was a rotational OLB who gave good pressure but could only play on obvious passing downs and a lot of his pressure came in large part thanks to our exotic packages and supporting cast. not sure what youre getting at there

mcphee was a former 3-4 end who can play inside and out just as bennett does... ?

  4. never said you didnt pay attention, was just saying that to anyone who did pay attention and focus in on ZDS could see that the physical traits are there and he has big potential.

but its just like in baseball, you have a guy with a .330 batting average, that would land a hitter among the tops in the league, but hes still failing 67% of the time, pass rush is quite similar but i think the failure threshold is even higher, so if ZDS pins his ears back to rush the qb for 10 snaps, and gets him once, thats very successful, and if you watched him against the saints you could see that if you give this guy enough real pass rushing snaps he is gonna get one, and the more he develops the more likely he is to add em up

your probably right im probably setting too high of a standard for him comparing him to pernell who was basically our michael bennett...

  5. andrus peat was also in the mix for best OT in the draft.

and like you said, hes a rookie, and i never said he played lights out or anything, i said he showed some serious potential and needs work to reach that potential. hes not there yet, but with the right coaching he could be special, and even with a very inconsistent night you could see that his potential is real if you paid attention.

also, even suggs and dumervil get stonewalled on probably more than 50% of rush attempts, its the nature of the position, sacks arent easy to come by

hahaha yea yea yea andurs peat did very well he was the third lineman picked in the draft... yes people do get stonewalled often yes i know this he did have a sack and he did get to the quarterback every now and then so coming from a rookie i guess he did alright... dont say i didnt pay attention though  :D ... well see what he has tonight

  6. finally someone else pointed it out! i feel like so many are just saying "he couldnt set the edge he didnt play very well blabla"

well, setting the edge is a very refined skill, i doubt any rookie will know how to do it in their very first preseason game.

and not getting the sack doesnt explain his night, i thought i saw tons of potential from him and i think he is going to be very special, as in a perennial double digit sack guy by year 3, unless his development gets completely stonewalled right here(practically impossible) then i dont know how you can frown on his performance just because he didnt fully capitalize.

all i saw was every ... about seven out of ten times he rushed the qb andrus peat would stand him up clean ... he is  arookie and will get better though and did show flashes ... but i think were blowing him up too much

  7. Nick Easton running with the 3's held his own on a pretty terrible group. Made some good decisions switching blocks.

Jah Reid did impress me with the 2's. Like most people here, I'm not a big fan of his but he played well this game at RT, maybe he'll get his stuff together and realize his potential.

Asa looked good fielding punts...up until he got injured again. But seriously he looks dangerous fielding punts.

LT has stepped up pretty well.

Butler did fine. The pick was more Schaub's fault than his, it was poorly thrown. Had he made that catch falling backwards early in the game we would be saying great things about him.

1st team D looked fantastic the 2 drives they were out there, granted it was against McCown it was still very good.

Arthur Brown was a mixed bag, made a couple good plays but also missed a few. Orr is in the same boat.

Trawick did very badly in my opinion. That taunting penalty really made me mad, so unnecessary. Hope Perry gets more snaps next game.

    Rookies:

Williams did fantastic, that 4th and 20 was supremely impressive.

Carl Davis did great, absolutely manhandled whoever they put in front of him. Very disruptive.

Z Smith was a mixed bad, struggled mightily early but as the game went on he did better culminating in the sack

Allen did good, like Z. Smith he didn't do well early but did better after a couple snaps he did better.

Walker was impressive, wasn't expecting him to shine like he did. Doesn't shy away from contact and i odon't remember him making any bonehead plays.

Boyle made some good catches, very strong hands. Wish he would get more after the catch but can't complain about his performance.

Waller made a nice contested catch early, then did a good job drawing contact. Nothing overly impressive but i can't complain about his day.

u got that right about trawick i really route for him but he really let me down tonight... didnt look at easton too much but when i did he was doing his job the tackles on that third string looked awful though

  8. my players of the game: lawrence guy, zach orr, eugene mornoe (although didnt play that much), taliaferro looked like a starting nfl running back, jah and ryan did some pretty good work especially jah, zadarius art and nick perry had a few good plays, and carl davis looked really impressive working next to lawrence... Players that dissapointed: klm-looked at times god awful, anthony levine and the backup secondary, buck didnt do that well but i doubt neither other rb's would against the second string line compared to the first, darren people will hang on to but couldnt even execute catching the screen pass (if people watched the combine, they would know he was the worst reciever invited) 63 on the o-line didnt look that good (i think clausell is his last name)... overall i like trestmans offense. Its clear that the fullback will be used judging by tonight... i like lining some tight ends out wide... first team looked great... WE have the best strating o-line in the nfl... would really like to see robert myers and urschel who had an excellent game against new england against vince wilfork last year... ricky stumbled out of the gate but finished the drive off strong... overall we look really good,,, would love to see the players who were inactive tonight get a go at it to see how we would look like at full strength... P.S. brennan bryer i thought looked pretty decent tonight.. i think he should definatly at least make the 75 cut
