  1. Saw Parker last night with my Dad. Pretty good action as usual for a Statham film, but I do have two complaints. J. Lo's character seemed pointless. I just don't understand why they had her in there. I thought they were gonna do more with her and then it just ended. And also, Statham attempted a Texas accent and it was horrible. I usually hold British actors in high regard due to their ability to pull off American accents time after time, but his was terrible. Other than that, it was a lot of good action. Now for the previews. The worst one in my opinion was the Evil Dead remake. I'd rather see the new Die Hard and G.I. Joe Retaliation back to back as a double feature than to go see Evil Dead. I saw the uncensored version for mature audiences only. I'm 26 going on 27 in March and even I thought the gore was over-the-top. In my opinion (which I know doesn't count on this thread) it looks like a snuff film that only a serial killer could enjoy. I love the original because Bruce Campbell provided great comic relief. This just looks like a lot of blood-vomiting over-the-top gore. Among all the things they could ban, they choose to let movies like this and Saw slide. There's art and then there's snuff. This falls in the latter category.

Yeah Statham is awful at accents! He should just stick to his own like Arnie and Van Damme did regardless of if it makes sense or not lol.

  2. I saw RocknRolla a few years ago, I only remember it for Kebble and the always reliable Mark Strong. Layer Cake and Gangster #1 are pretty good too.

I'd also recommend I'll Sleep When I'm Dead starring Clive Owen and Malcolm McDowell, and Sexy Beast starring Ray Winstone and Sir Ben Kingsley to those who haven't seen them. Both fit into the same British Crime genre as the others mentioned.

  3. I wouldn't have any problem with recasting Shaft as white, seeing as Blaxpolitation films were written and produced by white people and did more harm than good. You can even throw in all that good stereotyping than Black Dynamite and Undercover Brother parodied. But I think a better actor than Bradley Cooper would provide a better comparison to someone with the charm and presence of Idris Elba.

Personally I think the Bond role will go to Michael Fassbender.

The Bradley Cooper comment was tongue in cheek. I'd never seriously compare him to Idris Elba! I think he'd make a great 00 agent, just not sure if casting him as Bond would work. Not that I'd have any problem with it, I'd be in the cinema to see it on day 1 just as I was for Skyfall!

  4. I'm not sure if Idris Elba as Bond would work. A spin off 00 agent maybe, but there's too much history of Bond as a white guy to make it believable. You can't just change a characters race. It would be like casting Bradley Cooper as the lead in a reboot of Shaft!

  5. Good movie, the director does a good job capturing the imagery of the Great Depression and the scenery of Virginia is unreal. The plot story itself is fairly short but the acting in it is very good. Im a Tom Hardy fan and Shia LeBeauf has a perfect character to use his skills to act upon.

Yeah I agree it was a good movie. Never been a big fan of LeBeouf but I thought he was good in this. Always been a fan of Hardy!

  6. Children of Men.

I just love this movie. Watched it for the fourth or fifth time last night. I will never be anything short of amazed at some of the single-take scenes in that movie.

One is 7.5 minutes long and a VERY intense battle scene. Room to room, building to building, street to street, tanks, infantry.....and not one cut. Amazing. The coordination to make that happen must have been mind-numbing.

Great film! The directors next film has an opening shot that is 17 minutes long apparently.

  7. Sad but also wierd for me. I finally watched the whole movie The Taking of Pelham 123 the day he died. He was the director, it was a good movie.

Yeah it was a decent flick. It's recently came out that he found out he had inoperable brain cancer! I'm usually not sympathetic to suicide victim's but I can't help but feel his pain on this one.

  8. Wow, what a way to go out.

I read yesterday that she's going to press charges. Chad, looks like you married a whack job!!

If its true that he butted her, surely he's the whack job? Lol

He's also had a tv show cancelled, things just keep getting worse for Chad. But if he's guilty then who can have sympathy? Although, I don't think his version of events is too far fetched!

  9. Ive heard its meant to be very good, but there is a hell of a lot of episodes, thats whats holding me back atm, i still want to read the game of thrones books before i starts another series, im halfway through book 1. it was postponed by The Sopranos, which im going to watch again in a year or 2, then the euros, now the olympics

I watched it when it aired on tv. I've wanted to watch it again for ages, that's how much I enjoyed it. I just can't justify the price of the boxset when I've already seen it!

  10. Really on watch family guy if nothing else is on. Only watch tv for sports. Movies i have a site on the internet that gets them before they even hit the cinema in the UK 90% of the time.

On the same site i often watch older tv shows back to back in a few weeks. In the past year ive watched and loved, prison break, the wire, sopranos. The Wire and Sopranos for me easily the best two tv shows ever made.

I watched one tree hill as it was on from when i was like 12, was into basketball quite a bit then, thats what attracted me too it.

Currently waiting on game of thrones to return, i'll actually watch in live when its back on, as well as person of interest, homeland and touch.

A Number to start watching when the summer of sports is over including breaking bad, broadwalk empire, the shield, entourage, suits, white collar, brotherhood and deadwood. It will take me a while to get through them all, but i will eventually lol.

The Shield is one of my favourite shows of all time! Also forgot about Homeland, that's one of my current favourites.

  11. Well maybe that's why I love his movies so much. I haven't seen Raging Bull yet, but I read good things about it. The Departed was awesome and had the best cast I've ever seen. Of course I rather of them used De Niro as the old cop, but that guy was still good. haha

Have you seen The Deer Hunter? Thats another movie I wanna check out eventually.

Raging Bull and The Deer Hunter are two of my favourite De Niro films. If he's your favourite actor and you haven't seen those films, you're going to love him even more after you've seen them lol!

  12. Deniro was great back in the day and still is when going "gangster". Other than that, I think he's the same guy in every movie nowadays.

I agree. Some of the movies he's chosen to be a part of in his older age are very average. He just seems to dial in his performances for a payday these days. Same with Pacino.

  13. Can't wait for the Euro match today. Italy vs. England.

Sorry, Arnie. I hope you guys get waxed today. Viva Italia.

    Arnie isn't English! Lol

I think England can win tonight, I don't expect it to be a thrilling game though! 1-0 either way.

  14. Yeah that goal was good man, he just needs to keep his mouth shut. I think he was upset 'cause Prandelli (Italy's head coach) benched him at the start of the game.

By the way, I'd say Messi is better than Ronaldo. He's a close second, but Messi just has that edge. He almost never has an off day, which Ronaldo does.

You could argue that both have off days for their respective Countries. But like Messi, Ronaldo didn't put a foot wrong for his Club last season! He's been phenomenal every season in Club football dating back to his last two seasons in England.
