am i the only one that's pumped already for the season!
i would've been happy to keep hill and rid the org of lewis
Am I the only one that doesn't like what we've done this offseason?! One of our biggest problems is we are old and overpaid on both sides of the ball, and we bring in Wallace and Weddle? Would have preferred Brian Quick, David Bruton, and using the cap savings to retain Kelechi.
I think you're missing the big picture. We are not a old team. What he have is vets at every position which is need to groom our young guys. Look at the offense. Whose the old guy for WR? SSS and then you have Wallace whose 28 and a long list of 4th yr on down recievers. RB? Forte whose 29 and only have about 5 yrs on his wheels. After him is another long list of young guys. That's the same for TE and lineman. Def is the same way. Our highest paid guy is Flacco and Yanda. Are they overpaid? Suggs? You may have a case with webby. Jimmy? The guys you mentioned are not proven vets. Keeping KO for the price that Oakland paid him is ridiculos! How can we help out the areas we need help in if we gave all the money to KO? That doesn't make sense and it's not a smart GM move. Which is why teams that does that never gets to the playoffs. Our DB's are young and Weedle should be the man. Wallace is going to thrive under Flacco. What I would say is relax because the moves they're making will definitely get us back in the playoff picture.
Hopefully the receiving corp can gel and stay healthy. Now a team's 3rd corner may be matched up against Aiken or Perriman or Smith Sr in the slot. A Safety can't drop into the box against the run when Perriman and Wallace are on the field. A LB is forced to cover Watson, Gilmore, or Maxx. Ravens offense has potential mismatches all over the field. Stay healthy and keep Joe upright.
exactly.....and i love it. everyone saying we're getting older hahaha nooooooo we have vets at ever spot on offense with young guys learning and backing them up. that's the way to groom your youngsters which we did more of last year when everyone went down.....this should be a playoff year for sure.
The BOSTONRAVEN Used To Hate Mike Wallace, But Now he needs to prove himself here.
everyone keeps saying he needs to prove himself.....he's a former Pro Bowler, he doesn't need to prove himself we know what he's capable of. he dealt with two QB that didn't have deep ball in their vocab....he should thrive here with joe under center
No way a QB isn't drafted in the top 5. Out of the top 5, 1 needs a QB like now and the other 2 should've been thinking about life after their current QB's (Rivers and Romo). One of those guys will drop and I really hope it's ramsey or bosa
i heard he is getting 9 mil for this season....WOW....He better make a lot of plays for that kind of cheddar.....
that might include the signing bonus
i wonder what the Ravens plans are? K.O might have agreed but he didn't sign yet which could cause him to return. Or they're making room for more pieces than usual.
I'm surprised they asked him to take a pay cut and just didn't cut him outright.
it was smarter to not cut him since we need depth at the position and he should know the defense now that he has a year under his belt.
PLEASE! stop with the Bolden already. Hes gone. Deal with it.
Boldin may be gone but not forgotten. For the right price I'd take a look at a guy who had over 1,000 receiving yards and 69 catches last year on a team without a QB.
ummm i don't think he has chemistry with anyone else but bolden....we all saw what kind of year torrey had and thtier second guessing paying him all that money like they did lol.....so of course he will have over a 1000 yards....not knocking his skill set because he's a beast (well in his prime), still a reliable WR but we have to look at the entire picture
He isn't gone yet. It's still a chance. He can take the money but what good does it bring if he's not winning. That has to be taken into account as well. We'll see what he does. Hopefully he stays!
On 3/6/2016 at 2:16 AM, OzzieBisciotti said:I see Brady, Peyton, Rogers, and maybe Brees and maybe soon Cam Newton. An elite qb is goog in all games, not just the playoffs, Bryne. Flacco is definitely above avg for sure though.
I don't know about that. Peyton is outstanding in the regular season but I don't know if you watched any of his post season performances. He's horrible lol. Rodgers is excellent in the regular season and good in the post season. He's some suspect performances in the post season as well. That goes for Tom Brady as well. So your statement saying it goes for for post season and playoffs is questionable because those players make elite plays but not always elite performances in the post season compared to their regular season stats. Flacco is good in the regular season but excellent in the post season where it matters the most. You can almost assure yourself if we get their we're a dangerous team to face because of Flacco's ability to turn it on in the post season. Just look at his stats and records. When we played NE when they pulled that trickery and no banned play, we had Brady locked up and Flacco was having yet another awesome game against NE in the post season. People may say I'm bias because I'm a homer but I'm not. Flacco is an elite QB. If he wasn't, no one would be mentioning his name as much as they do about his level of play. You can't say players like Dalton who has one of the best WR in the game, Ryan who has on of the best WR in the game, Romo who has one of the best WR in the game, Eli who has/had one of the best WR in the game elite and not put Flacco in that list to. Other than SSS, what elite WR did we have? But yet Flacco finds a way to win football games with what he has and wins a SB and named SB MVP? It doesn't make sense. Newton didn't play any hard nose defense like the one he has at all last year which is the reason why they lost. They were not prepared for that and wasn't prepared for that during the regular season. He's already being called elite. Stop the madness lol. Flacco can run with the best of them and won. Brady and Peyton.
i am sure Oz will try to reach a long term deal by the July 15th date, this just buys him time to focus on other signings, and the draft...
I couldn't agree more. Locking up K.O is top priority right now and putting Tucker on the tag buys an extended amount of time. Talks can pick up after Ozzie is finished creating the roster.
What!? Come on man. That's a dumb mistake. Smh
i saw this coming
ouch that hurt
I'm not ready to give up on Monroe yet. He's got the right mentality and work ethic for Bmore, and I think (believe?) that he just got really unlucky with two injuries in a row. He was drafted in 2009 so it's not like he's over the hill.
Now, if we can't keep KO, maybe then think about another guy on the left side. But I'm not convinced it should be how the #6 pick gets spent. I say pass rusher all the way.If we resign KO, Monroe is gone. Sorry there was a reason Jacksonville traded him to us. If he was so hot they wouldn't have drafted another LT a couple years later. Sorry, just don't see it with Monroe even when he is healthy. He is getting paid like a top 10 LT which he is not. Won't miss him when he goes.
I think that's a little far off. When Monroe was healthy, he actually played really well. Hence the reason why we offered him the contract. It's not like he was awful or mediocre when he played. He was really good. He just can't stay on the field all of a sudden. They gave us Smith and look at what he's doing. Another Jaguar that's highly productive but he hasn't missed a beat. It sucks for Monroe but then again, it could work out in our favor to keep K.O.
Whose coming up with these player cut allegations? Why on Earth will we cut Forsett? Another productive guy. That wouldn't make any sense at all.
Well, conventional wisdom says that a 5-11 team isn't overly interested in retaining its entire roster from the prior season, because that wouldn't make much sense from a W/L perspective.
There will be plenty of cuts being made.
I get cuts will be made since it happens every year but some of the players they're naming doesn't make sense. I get K. Lewis, Canty, Eugene but D. Smith? Forsett? They are our starters that's been very productive. Outside of Eugene being injured more than he's on the field, he wouldn't be on the cut list either because he's played very well when he's healthy. I guess what I'm saying is make allegations that makes sense and not just because. Smith has been lights out since he's been here in Baltimore. Why on God's green earth would the Ravens cut him? Unless he's too expensive which doesn't seem to be the case. Forsett is another inexpensive player that we got off of a bargain. No need to cut him. Anything for a story I guess. No one said anything about Elam lol. He's been declining since his rookie year. Art Brown? And I like him but he can't grasp the playbook. I guess since their younger.

Where is the video of John Harbaugh’s sit down at the combine with reporters? Would love to see the whole interview instead of 15 articles with bits and pieces of what he may have said.
Agreed
I feel like signing Osemele to big left tackle money is a huge gamble. Yea, he played there for four games last season but his play was average at best. The guys kick slides are stiff and look far from natural. He was also was susceptible to the inside move because he let defenders cross his face. It is possible with more time at the position that he will get better at these things, but it is big risk. I am just hoping he can live up to the contract (if he signs) and we don't have any buyers remorse like we do with Webb, Smith, and Monroe.
Which Smith are your talking about?
I don't see a story here. It's up to the players if they stay or not. It's not like he's not going to get a offer from us. It's up to them to take it or leave it. We don't overpay and if some other team wants to do that, so be it.
I think sometimes analyst don't think before they talk. Regarding the comment about Eugene and K.O. I think Ozzie is pretty much spot on with what he said. Monroe is the starter LT (always have been unless he as injured), K.O is a FA which he is. Why say K.O will and is the starting LT when....he's a....FA?! Doesn't make sense because he can take a better deal somewhere else. What Ozzie said about being active in FA has nothing to do with Joe's agent lol. Everyone knows our cap number and the Ravens will do what they need to get good guys in. If Joe wants to win like he said, his agent can't make the ultimate decision. It's on Joe. Analyst please pump your breaks
Just now, ellicottraven said:I don't think it will be wise to cut either Canty or Daryl Smith even if we draft replacements. Their teaching value, work ethic and leadership is a critical component for our D. Reduce their snaps if necessary but don't release them this year. I believe they'll be very productive with a limited snap count. This way, the younger players can fill in, learn and become productive after these guys are released. Or release them if they get outplayed and outperformed during TC/OTAs.
Exactly. I can see Canty being released by DSmith, NO WAY! The guy is still playing at a high lvl.
