Myles Jack must have a scarce grasp on logic and reality... Man, you, yourself shoot yourself on the leg by admitting days before the draft that you will probably need a micrifracture surgery, and may not last in the NFL for more than a couple of years - and then get surprised when nobody is willing to spend a first round pick on you?
Honestly, what were you expecting? Teams line up to take you while knowing you may not even be able to serve your entire first contract period?how is saying something that all the teams already knew be considered shooting yourself in the foot?
its was already pretty known after he went back to indy for the final check up.
heck any player with a medical issues was required to go back to Indy for the final check up.you are really selling all the FOs short if you think that they where caught off guard when he said that.
he simply was being honest about what his future might bring but he said nothing that nobody already knew...
Exactly.....he shouldve known he wasnt going in the first.....he was injured and it was a injury that could've take his career.....who would invest in that? how is getting pass making you hungry.....never understood that....especially when it's a MAJOR injury involved. political answer i guess
The Cowboys were only asking for our 1st rounder and they also wanted our 3rd round pick to swap spots with us and we thought it was too much to do all that and snag Ramsey! I am still BAFFLED. We had 11 picks and losing one for Ramsey would have been worth it.
i wouldn't have done it either....3rd and 4th rd was tooooo deep with players.....them combined is worth more than ramsey
It's just tired rhetoric from Mike Preston and his sheeple (you know the ones on here). They want more "Alpha dogs". Like Mike Preston would know what an Alpha dog is anyway (He let a guy named Schmuck become the go to columnist)....lol
Yanda = Alpha Dog
Brandon Williams = Alpha Dog
CJ Mosley = Alpha Dog
SSS = Alpha Dog
Crocket Gillmore = Alpha Dog
Eric Weddle = Alpha Dog
Etc, Etc, Etc
I guess in their mind, players that run their mouth are considered Alpha dogs - doesn't matter if they can play or not. Bernard Pollard is their "poster boy" for Alpha Dog - he's been cut by 4 teams and is currently on the street (2 years running) because he can't play.
Label them how you want - Lawrence Phillips was an Alpha dog and Jonathan Ogden was a choirboy. I know which one I'd take - Need I say more?
Speak on it!
i hope this lights a fire for him to bring it this season! time waits for no one!
Those jersey's are FIRE. I hope they use that. Didn't like the pats video tho.....cheesy if you ask me....that's kraft for ya.
OMG i want ramsey on our team sooooo bad......just think of how awsome the defense would be if we drafted him and than snag Noah spence with our second pick......GAINES!!!!!!
“Injuries are muscle imbalances,” Saunders said. “They’re overuse or fatigue. How can we look at that, get ahead of it, monitor it and really try to stop the nuisance injuries?”
That is so true, it is like with an ACL, you can't just rehab the knee, you have to rehab the whole body to get the connective muscles that affect the knee like the back, ankle and leg muscles involved too. It is like with a hamstring injury, you have to have the lower leg and butt muscles all in balance with the upper leg muscles for maximum performance and to prevent an injury to the hamstring. So glad to see a revamp of the training and conditioning program...it is about time!
i believe the word you are looking for there is glutes
lol
Richardson is another low-risk gamble that might just pay off. I can't figure why the Ravens are bothering with West though.
West played good last year and had a really good YPC.....no reason to drop him with that production.
I don't like this signing. Ravens already have to split touches between Foresett, Allen, West? and LT. Add Richardson and young guys you drafted get even less touches. Richardson probably will not play special teams so he's just a short yard option. No matter how small the contract is there are other places to spend money to make an impact.
Trent Richardson is 25. He was star at Alabama and 3rd overall pick. LT is more injured than not and played at East Coast Carolina. Please there is no comparison. If he plays like his rookie year or like he did at Alabama it is a win win for the Ravens. It isn't a lot of money we are paying him and there are no guarantees he makes the team. What if Derrick Henry is there in the 2nd?
Richardson did nothing in Cleveland or Indy. He is available for a reason. Pour money down the drain. And if you are talking about often injured players include Campanero, Webb, Monroe at better position to upgrade than RB which you are already 4 deep.
You have to understand how the game works. This isn't an upgrade. This is can he turn into something big for little to nothing. His contract has NO guarantees and who said his spot was secured? He could be gone before the season starts. How many players did we sign last year to try them out to see if they were players that we wanted to keep? Every smart team does it. If he doesn't work his way on the field he'll be be cut because he's not a practice squad player. Unless he chooses to be. This is a low risk, high reward type thing.
I am glad to see Aiken back. He deserves it. Instead of all this baloney about Perriman, who hasn't even caught a pass for real, Aiken stepped up and made the most of his opportunity. Reward him instead of some maybe who can't stay healthy enough to even start the season. Another wasted high draft pick by the Great Oz.
it is too early to determine if he's a wasted draft pick
I'm excited to see what happens. I really hope he's fully healthy and can do some damage once he gets his feet under him. We have a crowded TE group but it's crowded with tons of talent. The good thing is he doesn't have to rush to come back and he can take his time and ease back in. Play snaps here and their until he completely comfortable and confident.
The Raven's should be cautious about this upcoming season...to many question marks not only on the injury front, but we still have a few holes in our roster...can we draft the right guys to come in and start? How many will we start, and how many will be prospects? Yeah, we lost some close games last year,(including one that the NFL admitted we should have won!) but we also looked bad and got thumped more than a few times, and against teams we would have normally beat.
That being said, i'm optimistic we can win 9-10 games this season. The schedule is not overwhelming, we won't have to travel like we did last year, and I think last year was more a fluke than a permanent slide. But would 9-7 or even 10-6 get us into the play-offs?
Our biggest problem was pass rush and our ability to cover on def. With Suggs out, Doom was getting double/triple team. With no pass rush, that's easy pickings for any QB in the NFL. DB's can't cover for that long and that hurt us. We get Sizzle back along with drafting and developing pass rushers. Bring in some DB's and we're good to go. Honestly, I'm happy with offense at the moment. Maybe bring in a OT from the draft but our biggest need is play makers on the defense.
Gipson is a FS so making Ramsey a SS is not a good use of his skills. The Jags also have Cyprien & Sample at SS. I expect them them to target a 2nd tier SS in the mid rounds to compete with those guys. They have absolutely no one at LB other than Telvin Smith (Posluszny took a big pay cut so the Jags wouldn't cut him). They also have no d-line which is why they way overpaid Malik Jackson. Jack or Buckner is the pick there if he's available.
Dallas does need secondary help but they still have Claiborne and Carr. As far as pass rushers go, they only have DeMarcus Lawrence. Rod Marinelli's defense depends solely on DE rushing the passer (they don't blitz LB). Bosa, Buckner or Lawson is the pick here.
I still have a hard time seeing SD pass up an elite LT like Stanley especially since they play in a division with pass rushers like Von Miller, Ware, Khalil Mack, Tambi Hali, Justin Houston, etc. They allowed Rivers to be sacked 40+ times last year. That's a much more pressing need than Safety (they signed Lowery) or Corner (Verrett, Flowers and newly signed Hayward). Stanley starts on Day 1.Well, if any of the teams takes the same approach as the Ravens, which is selecting best player available instead of taking a need-based pick, that practically all of them would take Ramsey. Its unlikely any of them would rank Stanley or probably most of the other players ahead of Ramsey.
Dallas in particular makes all of the sense in the world, and for the very same reasons you described. They have Carr and Claiborne, who are both terrible corners. Claiborne resigned to a one year deal for chump change, and they've been asking Carr for a paycut for years. Its the equivalent of saying the Ravens are set at corner because they have Jimmy Smith and Shareece Wright, of which I'd rather have both of those guys over any of those two corners in Dallas. Their best corner is Scandrick, though he's been injured. They also have virtually no safeties.
I don't know what SD will do I can't see Ramsey making it past Jacksonville or Dallas.
lets hope he does because he'll solitify our backend and passrush is deep in this years draft
i hope he's fully healed and able to play......pitta is a very very very good TE and could have been to multiple pro bowls.
Interesting answer to the question about a Jerry Rice. I would have thought he say thats what we're aiming for. Instead he says who know's. LOL
I thought GM's would have a pretty good feel for the draft long before the draft. I also find it strange or alarming that you'd wait until 3 weeks out to set up your board. Most fans started the process of that before the seasons ink was dry. Sure it will change millions of times but the early bird catches the worm. Lastly why you tell your opponent where you plan to look for specific position. Thats seems dumb. To me if you can't get the first round right in terms of a receiver then why heighten the need and opportunity to acquire one until the 3rd and beyond. In a poker match the Ravens have gotten fleeced for a player(s) in multiple drafts. Ozzie usually plays it pretty cool. I said usually. DeCosta tends to leak information that they live to regret. Mums the word
That's the issue. Fans do not have clue as to what it takes to stack a board. They see a guy that produces well in college and automatically assumes he's be great in the pros. Doesn't work like that. It's been plenty of All-Star players that never transition to the pros. Why? Different animal.Their evaluating EVERY player that declares for the NFL and not just the popular ones. So their could be a guy that no one knows about and we pick them. Did anyone really think we were going for C.J Mosley? I sure didn't. I was a little upset we did until I saw him play and I knew that pick was perfect. This guys has been doing it for years so I'm quite sure this isn't the first time they waited until April to stack their board. It's a business and business must run on a schedule. They have a schedule and they stick to it. They have a system and they stick to it. As far as giving information. It's a jedi mind trick lol. EVERYONE does it because they want teams to aboard their moves and go after someone they think the Ravens are getting. They do it on purpose haha. I've noticed that, especially during draft. They mislead the media and keep their information private. Do you really think Ozzie or even Steve would allow their information to be out? lol No Way!
easy...3 OT since it sounds like all the fans and the FO wants to use the top picks on Defense. Somebody's got to protect JOE!
why would they pick 3 OT's with those picks?
I love the confidence
Stop comparing this to the Ray Rice situation. In the Rice situation, there was actual proof because he smashed his girl's face, then coldly dragged her limp body out of the elevator, and stood over her with no signs of "oh my god, what did I just do?!"...all on a video. In Hardy's situation, there is evidence, but no video of him actually performing the act. No factual proof. So nobody can say for sure what happened.
And when Ray Rice "confessed" to the team before the video came out; he was incredibly vague about it, and nobody knew how bad it actually was. If I remember correctly, he alluded to slapping her. But as we saw, it was a closed fist, left hook to the freaking jaw.
Rice is doing right by his actions now; but he still did something incredibly disgusting. If that was your daughter; would you want that man near your family? Stop being homers about Rice. If he was a steeler, you'd want him publicly hanged.
Hardy is a piece of crap. But his situation is different. Are you really prosecuting Rice and defending Hardy? You make it sound like rice is some sort of serial abuser or something with the bolded comment. He made one 5 second mistake while drunk.
Actually, while being provoked.

if you going to blame one person blame the other.....BOTH we're the cause of the situation that happened. NO ONE should be provoked, especially when their intoxicated. That's what happened in the Rice's situation. Rice never denied not hitting her but seeing it makes it bad which is the reason he was cut and banned. How do you know he was vague about it by the way? I don't condone hitting women or anything Ray did but you can't put all the blame on him. You have women out here thinking they can go toe to toe with men and putting their hands on them like they're kids but when they defend themselves, women rights are being brought up and the guy is being dragged through the mud. You can't play both sides. Plain and simple, keep your hands to yourself. That goes for men and women.
Wouldn't surprise me if Buck Allen becomes our primary back with Forsett taking a back seat. I think he will still get a good bit of carries, but Allen proved that he deserves the ball in his hands more often than not. Then I think its a toss up between Taliaferro and West. Taliaferro needs to prove he can stay healthy, because West will definitely push him for a roster spot.
True but Allen coughed the ball up a lot which is something that Forsett doesn't do. Forsett vision and patience in the hole is awesome as well which is beyond me why he wasn't starting on someones roster. I see Forsett the primary back with Tal backing him yet again only because he's a big guy that can move the chains. They say the best man will be on the field but having to elusive backs at the top of depth charts doesn't make sense for our system and division. They all will still get carries I think to keep each other fresh but I think the lineup will be the same as last year.
Question: have any teams reached out to the Ravens about trading up to our spot under a certain circumstance? I'm speculating that teams who want Goff have been speaking with us, since we're just ahead of the 49ers.
Not convinced the 49ers are interested in Goff at all.
Has the look of them sticking with Kaepernick.
I don't know about that. It was the money part that kept them from letting Kap go. They don't want to pay money that he doesn't deserve. They were foolish in giving him a contract when he didn't do anything to deserve it anyway. He's been a liability ever since.
Given the rancor between owners/players, it's just not as simple as it probably should be. Letting the coaches talk to players about life-problems sounds so easy, but someone on both sides will look at it as a way to get around off-season prohibitions to discuss football. Remember, with all good ideas there's always someone who screws things up! Hopefully the two sides can work this out and make it happen.
If the NFL wants to keep football out of it than they need to set up these functions for these young guys. Some of these guys never seen thousands of dollars at one time. For some of them to be hit with millions that's a big sum of money which can cause a lot of problems. I don't understand why the NFL hasn't taken notice of this and it's said that it takes a life for things to change. As they always say, crisis drive changes.
The up coming draft is made to rebuild the defense. If they mess this up, Ozzie and the scouting department need to step down.
impossible to determine in one season
1 hour ago, gregob56 said:Harbs is getting crushed by PFT and trolls for the first proposal. No one remembers the Urschel play, just the Playoffs in NE. Harbs is coming off a little whiny.
No way! Do you not realize how much momentum is key in any sport? A slight change of momentum can make or break a team. One bad call in football can be the deciding factor of a W, L, or hosting the SB trophy. I agree, why not make all reviewable plays eligible to be seen in instant replay. The game is WAY to fast for refs at times and last year it showed with all the terrible calls across the league. The technology is their, use it. NFL is a 17 week season not counting the playoffs. It's completely different than basketball which has 82 games, hockey and baseball. Those 17 games are VERY important. I stand behind harbs or any coach in the league for that matter on this issue.

It should've been all along. When Green burned us it's when Jimmy was on the other side of the field. It's NO reason Jimmy isn't following him all over the field. NO REASON. We've been burned what 3x because of that?! The game plan for Jimmy should be following him every where. Don't let him leave your sight!
