I think people forgot Jimmy just came back from having those screws removed from his foot. He's probably not a 100% yet but felt good enough to go. On one of the drives he was limping. It's the first game relax jessh lol
On 9/6/2016 at 3:53 PM, usmccharles said:I don't see it as a slap in the face at all. We were a 5 win team last year, we have a lot of unproven players. I see us winning more than 5 games, but have no issue being placed 3rd in our division as the Steeleres offense is stacked and the Bengals have a very well balanced team. I see the Bengals having a down year but right now I see us as a 7-9 team. You said you see our division as a toss-up, so why is it a slap in the face that we finish 3rd?
Only because of the record and placement. I see it being a toss up between us and the Steelers only because of their offense.
Things I learned:
1. Flacco is back!! As is Steve Smith, Forsett, Suggs, etc!
2. Mike Wallace was a good pickup
3. Our defense is pretty awesome, granted it was the Bills but still.
4. The offense needs to produce more. An extra TD or two to score would've made things easier on the team and us fans.
5. Throw the ball away instead of taking more sacks.
6. That one play where Tyrod used magic to escape a sack cannot happen again. Next time might be the game for them.
i like everything you said. The missed sake on Tyrod was cool on his part but we can't allow that. The problem is players go for that big hit and use only force to knock him down. Good players use that force against you which is why you need to WRAP UP WHEN YOU TACKLE! This is why Settle, Cards and other good defenses in the league stay atop the charts because they rarely miss tackles because they use good technique. Tyrod isn't the type of player you want to go high on. Around the waist and drive or take his feet from under him. Sign me up to coach Harbs. I got you!
First time posting a topic so hopefully it sparks good, clean dialogue. Where do you guys see baltimore ranked in our division/nfl? Now i'm seeing a lot of analyst as always rank us third in our division and about 20 compared to the nfl which is a slap in the face if you asked me. I honestly think that our division is a toss up between us, steelers and bengals only because of our gains and losses. We gained a lot of depth and good quality contributors in the offseason. Bengals lost their OC and some other quality players but i haven't seen any big gains other than draft. Steelers lost some guys as well and their def isn't the same anymore. They have that high powered offense but i don't believe that's enough to take the division. Now as far as us ranking in the league, i see us at 14 with tons of potential to improve. Now i find it disrespectful to put the bengals, chargers, chiefs and cowboys in front of us but that's just me. What do you guys think?
so they let go of JOSH JOHNSON for nothing? and sign another QB./ whats up with that?
Josh is not practice squad eligible.
correct
sounds way better than JOSH JOHNSON,NOT!
he wasn't eligible for the practice squad which is why john gave him a ton of reps not only for the backup position behind joe but to get his game tape out their for someone to grab.....it was successful
ozzie is a freaking mad scientist lol
Guessing nobody won the Pick the Roster contest then
haha right
personally,i would of cut PERRIMAN and kept BUTLER,you'll say i'm stupid but you'll see,we will be lucky to get 4 games a year out of PERRIMAN and BUTLER will be on the field way more!
lmao that would've been a move that would've cost you your job as a GM on any NFL team. Butler is good don't get me wrong but I think you're putting to much into him.Get rid of a 1st Rd draft pick for a practice squad player? Did we draft him? I don't think we did but even still perriman is going to be a problem in this league. Especially in our division.
Happy Ravens are hanging on to Reynolds, Brown, and Onwassor, but really disappointed that Ochi went elsewhere. Remember James Harrison?
yeah and HARRISON made us pay dearly for not keeping him, every single game,OCHI will be a star in this league, this sucks.
we can still can sign him off their practice squad if we needed to
Said it on another post Pierce makes it as insurance if Brandon leaves next year, as Pierce being 6 feet tall and 339 pounds is a prototypical NT, and he like Brandon is a space eater....I really hope we can get Brandon to stay because i just love his game, but players want that 1 big payday, and we hardly ever have the kind of money to match teams that have tons of cap space.....
So far it appears the Ravens have made no attempt to extend Williams... can't tell if they have given up but it looks like another KO situation in the minds of the FO.
it's way too early to say that......the same was thought for JT....relax we have some time.
If Butler doesn't make the team then there is something wrong, the kid has done nothing but make plays, and has been the most consistent WR in camp IMO...
I agree, but its not like its the first time. Remember, Ellerbe intercepted a pass in that Rams preseason game and then did a little dab and stuck the ball out over the endline for a touchdown and Harbaugh went off. Then they decided he was an OLB, then a DE, then a OLB again. Took two years for him to get off the practice squad. Cary Williams as well. For two straight preseason he was a force in the secondary, yet final cuts we kept other less productive guys and it was only the year that he got the contract from the Eagles, he got a chance to start in the secondary and we won a super bowl (not necessarily because of Williams but you get my point). Kruger sat for many a season because he was a pass rushing force coming out of college and he didn't want to play special teams. You know how Harbaugh is about that so once again, several years sitting on the back burner before he got a shot and one year later he was gone.
True but my only problem with what you said is none of those players are impact players anywhere else. Ellerbe signed a big contract and done nothing. The same with Williams and Kruger. Kruger was just cut by the Browns for under performing. Ozzie as a eye for players that will be productive and doesn't. Butler has been a highlight reel in practice but wasn't showing it under the lights until recently (last year). He's finally stacking those practices up and showing it on the field. It's not like he just was picked up he's been on the team for a while, just under performing when its game time.
they will ride with the hot hand until one of them shows consistency each week. we should go after jake long again and throw out the injury waiver. if stanley gets hurt than flacco is in trouble and we do not know how good stanley is yet.
that's crazy.....cost the team money just off of that? we have guys capable of sliding into the spot or making a trade.....no reason to throw money at a injury-prone player....that's not logical
Joe is a curious QB to like. He doesn't fit any of the statistically great categories (excluding his playoff to super bowl run), he seems boring and not your typical leader QB, but don't be fooled. Flacco never reached 4000 yards, because he never had to. With a good defense and a good running game, when Flacco threw it was deep where completion percentages are far less than the wide receiver screen. This stretched the field which allowed Rice to be as successful as he was both running and catching out of the backfield. And of course, you don't throw in the 4th quarter with a lead, you run out the clock. He isn't a loud in your face guy but when he needs to be a loud leader, he can grab the facemask of Derrick Mason and shake him silly (which he did). He quietly provides support to his teammates and because he isn't a rah rah guy, people miss out on those things unless someone does a story on it. For those who know football, they have a lot to say about Flacco. Bellicek has been quoted as being afraid of not only Flacco's arm saying that in one play he can bring his team back but also his feet where he said he gets them for one good 15 or 20 yard run every game when the Ravens need it most. Bellicek is one of the premier coaches (behind Harbaugh) and what he says, matters. Other coaches sit back and drool over Flacco and unless they have Brady, Newton or Roethlisberger, they would love to have Flacco as their franchise QB. So while pundits and media paparazzi want the flashy qb who yells at his fellow players and breaks every passing record, the people who know football would love to have Flacco who is calm and cool in the face of pressure, has a cannon for an arm, and leads in a way that gets people to follow, he leads from the front by example.
Well said
I just want to point out that Corey Graham could not get a starting spot on the Bears because they told him he was such a valuable special teams player that he would never get on the field defensively. Can you imagine? He came here and like the Ravens have a tendency to do, they give guys a chance to prove themselves and they give them the job if they earn it. Graham quickly showed that the Bears made a terrible mistake and after leaving here was able to ink some substantial contracts based on the chance that only the Ravens would give him. The NFL players, especially Jerraud, knows that the Ravens will give everyone a fair chance (if you stay out of the dog house) and if they prove they can do the job, they will get it. Competition competition competition and the best players get on the field. Cornerback, TE, WR, RB, all have incredible competition which means we are going to get some incredible players and plays this year.
Then Ravens hire Bear's coach. Go figure.
The bears coach wasn't their at the time.....and marc is only here for offense....thats it
It was pretty apparent from anyone looking at game tape that he wasn't ready for the NFL. Ole Miss ran a spread option offense where o-linemen ONLY have to worry about the guy directly in front of them - there was NO protection schemes, no calls, etc. Yes, he has off the chart measurables but so did JaMarcus Russell.
Right now, he's currently backing up LG Thomas (PFF worst rated O-Lineman last year)
We'd like you to revisit this post in week 6.
If you are saying Stanley is better than Tunsil and will outperform him this year, say it plain. No equivocation.
I am stating our Front Office erred again and Stanley was a now common mistake and passing on Tunsil was a major Faux Pas. An inexcusable Faux Pas and when the results come in it should be a fatal Faux Pas. A team CANNOT have a superior draft position and then select an inferior player. Not at Selection 6. That cannot and will not stand without correction.
Well, the Ravens cut their starting LT and are inserting Stanley in from Day 1. Tunsil is not even competing to be the back-up LT - he's competing to be the back-up LG & currently LOSING TO THE WORST G IN THE NFL.
I still have yet to see anyone post actual facts about why you think Tunsil is better. What did you see on the coach's game tape? Complex protection schemes? - no, Ole Miss doesn't run them. Ability to recognize blitz packages? - no, Ole Miss doesn't change blocking assignments. Adapting to different play calls? - no, Ole Miss often ran the same play 4-5 times in a row. Better character issues? no, smoked weed in high school, took money in college, smoked fake weed in college and let his teammate fall out a window, beat up his step dad, etc, etc. Bigger size? No. Longer Arms? No. Bigger hands? No. Better Punch? No. Play and start every game in any one of his college seasons? No. Played against top pass rushers? No, (Stanley dominated Shaq Lawson & Joey Bosa). I guess you think having better bench press numbers makes you a better player.
Word Up!

What makes you think he's going to be better than Stanley when Stanley is better equip for the NFL? I fail to see the logic in that. Tunsil isn't even competing for the position he was drafted for. He's backing up a BUM lmao. Stanley on the other hand was a highlight in our camp thus far and I'm quite sure they threw everything they possibly could at him. JO is a teddy bear too. Until he steps on the field. Not saying Stanley is the next JO but the guy has MAD talent and ability to be an All Pro, Pro Bowl, SB Winning LT. Don't sleep.....that's all i'm saying....
Dont sleep on Waller. Man has a ton of ability. Boyle may be a surprise cut. Watson has about a couple more years at best, and Pitta is never a sure thing due to this hip. Gillmore, Maxx, and Waller would be a pretty hard group to cover in double TE and even TE slot packages.
I highly doubt boyle gets cut since he's suspended and won't count as a spot on the roster. From what I see, all our TE's will be on the roster when the season starts. Now RB and WR is a different story...unless someone gets injured.
+++ "Joe walked over to me and said, 'There is nothing you need to be ashamed of. The impact you've made on us in a short amount of time has taken people years to do. You make me better. Whatever you decide, you need to be proud of that.'" Smith recalled. "That broke me down." +++
But Flacco's not a leader, right, pundits?
Preach
Love it !... take that fake fans.. you know who you are... one other group I'd like to address: The Boldin Ship has sailed... I repeat, the Boldin Ship has sailed
#Perrimanstrong :)As much as I want to see Perriman make a full recovery why would you be elated that "The Boldin Ship Has Sailed"? Guess you like the mediocre cast of characters we have aside from SSS, Wallace, Aiken, and hopefully Perriman. Geez, you must have loved last years 5-11 season. Anytime you can get a WINNER (AGAIN, only if the price is right) why wouldn't you do it?
Fans need to know when to let go. Boldin is gone and I don't see him returning. We want to get younger and faster. Not older. We already have to vet receivers in SSS and Wallace. We already have chain movers in Aiken who DESERVES to be on the field after his level of play last year. The receivers production didn't hurt us last year. It was the injury bug that killed us. We have no space on the roster for him. He's past his prime man let him go. Plus, have you seen our TE's?! We have Pitta, Gilmore, Watson, Williams, Boyle and now Waller. The replacement for Perriman if he was to miss the entire season is on the team already, Mike Wallace. Not to mention the rookies we drafted that has great speed. Our chain-movers are already in tact and that's all Boldin will be. SSS is our Boldin but better. SSS numbers have been a lot better than Boldin's number. Only difference is possibly drops (which he gets more passes thrown his way) and a SB ring.
I think that would be a great idea to put 5-11 on the back of a tshirt. Something like that can be used for inspiration. You hear it all the time when guys talk about things they had to go through in their early life. Mike Evans for example. Look at what he went through and how he took that experience and used it to become who he is today. The sun still shines even on cloudy days. Our cloudy day was 5-11. Our sunshine is the playoffs and hopefully a SB.
I'm lost.....why shouldn't he wear #19?
Johnny Unitas Nnumber
Thanks. I just realized that when reading late for work.....i'm 50/50 with it.....it should be a retired number although i understand it was in a colts uniform. for that i would leave it up to the family and it looks like they already granted him permission
Again, no way should he wear 19. And, please don't put the md logo on the new field, Raven bird head.
He definitely SHOULD be able to wear 19. Especially because the Unities Family gave their grace for him to wear it. I mean come on, it's a damn number. The only Numbers that shouldn't be worn is 52,20,& 75.
I'm lost.....why shouldn't he wear #19?
With Powers being 5'10" he sounds like a great mentor for Tavon Young. As for Matt Elam, I wonder if the Ravens would consider trying him at inside LB? All be it a long time ago he played it HS.
Matt Elam is too small to play LB at 5'10 LOL not a good idea. To me, l think it's time to move on from Elam. He just don't have what it takes.
Yea, might be time to release both Aurthor Brown and Elam, as they would provide decent cap saving. Also think Forsett could fall into the 80-20 rule, given the position is stacked. Also if Camp gets injured I think it should be time to move from him as well. We need guys that can play ball, not sit on the bench or IR.
Hmm l sorta agree with you but not quite. Arthur Brown has life because we don't have no depth at that position at LB unless we sign somebody then he's in danger of being release. Forsett is the veteran among the groups of RBs so l think he stays. As for Campanero, you could be right about that one because we stacked at Wr. l want him to stay because he got so much potential to be a good wr for us but he always gets so dang injured all the time.
Agreed no way Forsett or Art is going anywhere. At least for now. Forsett is a vet and trusted. Unless he gets injured again and someone comes in like a Ray Rice type and lights it up from then on.....Forsett has his job. MLB to thin to get rid of Art right now

we have a chance to be undefeated going into our bye week. In order for us to do that, we need to tighten up on the offense and play lock up defense ALL four quarters and not the last two. Theres no reason Flacco is through 45+ passes in a game! He's not that type of QB and we're not that type of team. We need to establish the run and get our O-line a lot more aggressive on the run than what they are. We didn't crack 100 yards in the run game and in our division we MUST run the ball. If this does't change, we will not beat Pittsburg or Cincy and we need to beat those boys. Especially Cincy! No more predictable plays! That's what I loved about Kubiak when he was here in Baltimore. You never know where he was coming and it always was deception with his play calling. You think we're running this way but its a fake PA. Or delayed HB draw. WR screen. Bootlegs. We don't do any of this type of stuff and we have the players for it. We can't rely on sending our WR deep every single play. Get guys coming across the field. RB peel on off of chip blocks. I should't be able to call a running play every time we run because we're passing to much and we're not moving the ball.
