Jadakiss' song was probably the worst-hyped political song in the history of hip-hop, mainly because he had only two or three insightful lines out of the entire duration of the song. Styles P, Nas, and others have done much, much better in making political songs. But, that's a different topic for a different conversation...
Back to the Denzel vs. Depp debate, it depends on the role. Denzel's roles have traditionally been grounded in contemporary realism, so for those types of roles, I'd give the edge to Denzel. Depp is better-suited for period pieces and fantasy roles. Some of the more mediocre roles that Depp has done have been in movies as average joes or protagonists in contemporary settings like in Nick of Time, Secret Window, and (from what I've heard) The Tourist.
I wouldn't go so far as to proclaim Johnny Depp or Denzel Washington the best actor of our generation just yet, when there've been other actors who have the range to do roles in all periods. I would make an argument that Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio, and (to an extent) Brad Pitt have shown range across both realism and fantasy, and have demonstrated as much consistency. Don Cheadle gets an honorable mention, largely because he's done more in supporting roles than some actors do in lead roles.
di caprio is unreal, cheadle is very underrated
I agree wholeheartedly on "Why?" and you're Depp/Denzel contrast is fair.
If we're going to mention Cheadle though, Forest Whitaker deserves a nod too. Like Cheadle, he's been in a lot of supporting roles but is quite underrated.
forrest whitaker isnt underrated at all, hes been in alot of lead roles, to high acclaim
Recently, yes. Over his entire career though, the guy has blown Depp's work out of the water.
johnny depp is far more versatile then denzel, could u c denzel in alice in wonderland, or pirates, or fear and loathing haha, but he can also do dramas, donnie brasco and public enemies to name a few, that being said they r 2 totally different actors, depp being more of a character actor, he seems to like doing different roles, where as denzel plays it safe and sticks to the norm. training day is about as crazy as he gets, and even that wasnt that crazy.
on a somewhat related topic i heard jadakiss say in a rap that denzel "had to be crooked before he took it" referring to his oscar for training day, he did of course win an oscar years before ofr a supporting role, but still and interesting take none the less, making it about race is another thing altogether.
Minority Report could have been great if it ended when
Tom Cruise gets put in the jail-coma thing. Or Max von Sydow could have killed Cruise instead of himself.
War or the Worlds was just ok. I could have done without the whole part with Tim Robbins, just seemed unnecessary. Also, the ending was lame.
Spielberg ruins his movies by insisting on happy endings.
Nothing he does will ever be as good as Schindler's List. That's the only movie I'm not ashamed to tell people that I've cried watching.
war of the world is an over 100 year old book, which i havent read haha, and it was also made into a movie before, but one could assume the book ended the same way as the movie.
speilberg isnt the only one with happy endings though, thats hollywood for ya, i dont care how a movie ends personally, as long as it fits the story, i do often think movies would end better if the "hero" died, or in some cases lived.
take i am legend for example, i prefer alternate ending blu ray version, apposed to theatrical.
Keeanu Reeves immortal haha, dude just happens to be a really good ice hockey goalie.
Haven't watched Wall Street yet but what are you guys' thoughts if you've seen it.
worth a watch if u have seen the first one
Both of those are solid movies, nothing special.
true dat, ill re-instate your man card
My man card my be revoked but I liked Cruise in "Vanilla Sky"...
yup it has for sure hahaha, i couldnt get into that one myself, last cruise movie i liked was war of the worlds, and minority report
Despicable me was ok, was also expecting more laughs.
Easy A is pretty good, Dinner for Schmucks was ATROCIOUS.
ya that movie was terrible
i watched forgetting sarah marshall last night for the first time, i laughed my *** off a few times, it wasnt bad
i also watched unstoppable, it wasnt as good as i hoped it would b, plus it was set in pennsylvania so i kinda wanted them to crash
Zombieland and 2004 Dawn of the Dead were pretty good.
ya i was thinking that as well, thats the one with woody right? i enjoyed it, was funny
Speaking of Zombies, I DESPISE Rob Zombie. Completely butchered the Halloween films in his 2 remakes. My favorite horror series by the way. There's no denying that Michael Myers is by far the coolest serial killer in movie history. And Rob Zombie just butchered that classic mask. It looked horrible in his remakes and nothing like Michael Myers is supposed to look like.
i felt that way about the recent remake of nightmare on elm street, freddys make up was laughable
I'm really looking forward to the second installment of "Mongol". It's supposed to be a trilogy, but I haven't seen any reports on Sergei Bodrov starting production on the second one.
as am i, one of the better foreign films i have seen
Make that deux! Always hated that guy. Fyi, Demi Moore is trash!
hes just got that look, and such an annoying voice, i just wanna punch him in the face
kutcher is THE WORST, i cant stand that dude, and hes such a terrible actor
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not a fan? haha
watched the movie "devil" last night, i enjoyed it, good twist at the end. apparently m night shyamalan wrote the story for it
i watched a few movies that just came to dvd the other night, i belive ony 1 was in theatre, but i could b wrong
Takers-Idris Elba, Paul Walker T.1, Chris Brown
extremely average at best, crime/heist movie with little excitment and originality
Stone-Robert Deniro, Ed Norton, Mila Jovovich
Like aways ed norton is incredible, deniro was good, as well as jovovich, great acting in this movie, great movie about the human condidtion
Buried-Ryan Reynolds
well u guessed it from the title, hes buried...alive...in a wooden box...THE ENTIRE MOVIE!, when i started to watch it i thought to myself, the whole show wont be him in the coffin, there will b flashbacks, and scenes of ppl trying to save him and so on....WRONG, the entire movie is him in a coffin, not as bad as u would think though haha, more excitment then takers, which says alot about that movie too haha
Red-Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman,John Malkovich,Helen Mirren,Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfus,Mary Loiuse Parker
Pretty star studded cast, waste of talent really, it was a fun movie though. had to take it with a grain of salt, they weren't tryin to win any oscars with this one haha
Yeah the Xmen poster doesn't look incredible, but its early and looks like an unfinished leak. However I'm big a fan of the cast and the homage to the old school uniform.
The Anne Hathaway thing is weird though, shes unique looking but I'm not entirely convinced she has natural sex appeal. It should be interesting to see how she works it under Nolans lens, his movies are always good but he can be hit and miss with his characters.
it seems to me that halle berry wore tht cat suit the way it should be worn, thats all cat women was there for anyway, sex appeal, if it aint broke dont fix it haha, cant wait for this movie
true grit-thumbs up
green hornet-1 up 1 down
the dilemma-1 up one down
Ehh, wanna go out to the rink and play some hackey. There's no doot aboot it i'll whoop ya.
pfft how quaintly stereotypical and not at all unoriginal, haha, damn easterners
