  1. "I will never be able to tolerate watching any team, at any time, not giving their best effort to win." So well said, Salamander. I think this has been a problem with this team this year, too many times. There have been critical plays that I remember watching this year that before the play even ran, I would say "no false start" or "no defensive offside" or "no stupid penalties," i.e. personal fouls or facemasks. So many times, it has been like someone has been thinking about something else other than the count, or the snap, and has committed that one critical mistake that we couldn't afford to make. The lack of discipline and the general lack of readiness to start the game or the 2nd half has plagued us. It has become an ugly mindset or "toxic pesky mindset" that has been like a contagious virus. Just generally, not playing like a Raven...no excuse for that. Regardless of the record or how lost the season might be, there is never, never, ever room for this on our team.
  2. Lack of discipline Injuries Under-achieving Lack of discipline Unfulfilled potential and expectation Coaching lapses Bad turnover differential Lack of clutch plays In-game management issues Oh yeah, did I say, lack of discipline? I may have missed some.
  3. (With all the sarcasm I can muster): Don't you just love how Pats' fans interpret all the bad things happening to us this season in terms of the Patriots? It just makes them and that lovely team of theirs all the more endearing.
  4. One thing for sure: Tanking wasn't on Flacco's mind.
  5. The 2 interceptions and fumble by Flacco didn't help much either, Coach.
  6. When you make mistakes with the recidivism of the Ravens, it is called karma when you lose a game as a result of another's mistake. No, the Ravens should not have won. And against a better opponent, it wouldn't have even come close to the final play being blown by the refs.
  7. @TheConquerorWorm - of course, discipline falls under the responsibility of unit coaches (DC, OC and ST). Their position coaches work for them and answer to them. But then, the HC is responsible for all of it. It is not just individual discipline, but discipline of coordinated schemes or lack thereof.
  8. The assessment of the Ravens as good/evil is accurate and is a reflection of a team that lacks discipline and focus. And if there is one player that characterizes this schizophrenia, it is Flacco. He plays like a SB MVP and a rookie with no clue, all in the same game.
  9. Let's not get too excited about our so-called progress that still wasn't good enough to overcome the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Ravens. Remember: This was the Jaguars. After being home in Baltimore for what(?) 3 weeks now with a bye to rest, heal, plan and prepare; and this is the best we can muster against a very below average team. WOW! Even our re-evaluations need to be revisited. It seems like we may have missed some things.
  10. Lack of discipline, failure to have the team ready to play and lack of execution - no excuses for the coaches or players. We do not have leadership on this team.
  11. It starts with Harbaugh and Trestman. A 3-TE set would present some serious mismatches.
  12. Zuttah has been so dependable; taken for granted and recognized for his value when he is not able to play. He just doesn't miss playing time. And he seems to me to be the kind of teammate that will be right alongside Urschel, as much as possible. Hope his injury isn't long term.
  13. Asa is high risk high reward, mostly. But I like him.
  14. First of all, no injury seems serious for Mr. Steve Smith, Sr. He could have 10 injuries and return to the field from each one before Perriman returns from his injury. I wish WPWN would even quit mentioning Perriman. He has like overdosed on tenderizer or something.
  15. Sense of urgency for 60 minutes. It is not Joe Flacco's character to be loud and outspoken. But a leader has to go out of character if that is what is needed. This is not the time or place for comfort zone. We need you to be a leader, Joe. Now!
  16. I will know the smoke is clearing when we are ready to start playing at the start of the game. To me, when we are lethargic through the first half of the game, I don't expect a W. I still hope for one, but I don't expect it. When the opening kick-off occurs, we need to make sure that smoke turns to fire.
  17. I remember Ed Reed playing FS with one arm. I would rather have him with one arm than any of our 2-armed safeties over the last 2 seasons.
  18. Cross-pollinating articles here - the Ravens in this messed up season, have the best run-stopper in Brandon Williams and the best guard in the NFL in Yanda. Arguably, we have the toughest and most durable player in Steve Smith, Sr. Well, we, also, probably have the most fragile player in the NFL in Perriman. I know it is a small sample size for judgment like this, but the expectation is as low now as it was high before, for many of us.
  19. Salary cap, draft pick success, play calling by coordinators, take advantage of opportunities, fewer injuries of the significant kind to impact players, more timely in-game adjustments, better clock management, consistently ready to play 60 minutes, quality players at vulnerable positions (i.e. wideouts and secondary), rebuild defense, smart decision-making by QB, catch what you can get your hands on (passes or interceptions) and, oh yeah, win the Super Bowl every year (no-brainer - LOL). Take your pick.
  20. Does anyone here really think that Perriman will hold up well against NFL-style hitting anyways? He seems to me to be just the opposite of SSS.
  21. I wouldn't waste such a magical wish on just one play or an injury reversed, even though I wish none of our Ravens were hurt. Like bioLarzen said - "One change wouldn't be enough." More production from key draft picks or different draft picks altogether would certainly be nice. I wish we had not traded Boldin, and giving him away for next to nothing made it even less tolerable. As much as I like Ozzie, that was not a highlight of his career as a GM, in my opinion.
  22. The worst wide receiver corp in the NFL practicing against the worst secondary in the NFL does not produce success on gameday.
  23. The disappointment of our defense under Dean Pees is already well beyond one season.
  24. Accountability isn't a talking point, Joe.
  25. The woulda-coulda-shoulda season continues. Outscored in the first half 81-50 through 6 games. Led just once at the half. Without a shut down defense, we can't climb back. And the lethargic, ineffective offense for the first half doesn't get going until it is too late. In game adjustments aren't effective for the current game. After practicing them for a week, maybe we can use them during the next game's 2nd half. Maybe we should start warming up earlier so that we aren't still in that mode for most of the first half.
