  1. Either him or Will Montgomery, to be frank. De La Puente is the better pass blocker, whereas Montgomery is solid at run blocking (although, he's not that much of a pass blocker); however, Montgomery is use to playing in a ZBS scheme.

de la puente is pretty good at run blocking and is a MUCH better pass blocker and is only 28.

    seems like a no brainer..right?

  2. Have always liked Steve Smith, but you can't make that comparison.  He doesn't have the strength or rebound ability that Boldin had. Granting he's quicker and like Boldin he runs reliable routes.  He fits Oz's bill....He can catch the ball at 7 to 8 yards and has good Yards After Catch ability.

All that said, in no way does he make up for the loss of Boldin. He's too small and although a tremendous athlete he can't dominate a corner like Boldin could. Don't kid yourself.

I disagree. Steve smith has dominated with less talent then boldin has throughout his career. the eye test tells anyone that steve smith was the epitome of big time while boldin has always been just very very good

  3. Torrey gunning deep, Marlon on the outside, Iceman in the slot, Pitta at TE. Health permitting, we have an adequate group for Flacco to work with. Let's get a Center and RT and get our trophy back from the Ravens out west!!

you see..marlon worries me..hes got potential but i wonder if he can truly take that next step. Beefing up a bit this offseason might be a good idea

  4. With that contract size, he'll cost us probably around 2M on the cap. Should still have room for some moves.

Mack would likely consume almost all of that (and Cleveland would probably match it). I still think De La Puente or Dietrich-Smith are the more realistic options.

Perhaps the front runner is Dietrich-Smith ... because of his last name (it is at least 1/2 a "Smith") :-)

LOL for the millionth time Dietrich smith has gone to the bucs

  5. Now we have two Smiths at WR!

How does Steve Smith compare to Boldin today?

Boldin is a more go up and grab it guy. Smith is a better route runner and still faster with equal hands. Smith was always more talented then boldin but as of right now boldin might be a bit more useful..depends really..if steve smith is in the best shape he can be he is and always was better then boldin

  6. Glad to have him on board.  Curious to see how much he'll be getting.  He is 35, but doesn't play like he is.  It'll be good to have some fire and intensity out on the field.

Remember Mason at 35? Well Steve Smith was better then mason ever was at any stages of each of their careers

  7. Again. We don't need Steve Smith. End of story. We are fine as is with Smith,Brown, Jones and Pitta.

We need a Center and RT waaaay more than an aging, declining receiver.

I agree. Trust me though..its clear steve smith is ravens priority number 1.

Id actualy just usewhatever cap we have left and go for mack

  8. Because of where the Ravens currently stand with their salary cap, signing Alex Mack is 99.9% unlikely, unfortunately. However, Will Montgomery is a fine consolation prize (and a much more Ozzie Newsome-like acquisition).

I'm currently liking this idea of a Monroe - * LG? * - Montgomery Yanda - *RT? * line, even if it includes pushing Kelechi Osemele back to right tackle (to protect his back). I wonder who would be the left guard at that point, then? I guess it could be a player on the team, already (Gradkowski? Jensen? Wagner?); but, more likely, the Ravens could solidify the position in the early parts of the draft. Signing a LG might be a little unnecessary, to be honest, with who's still available as a free agent.

trust me you dont want montgomery
