  1. actually i think it's the opposite. I think he's one of the riskiest with it more being about upside. Much like perriman.
  2. When ozzie says BY FAR, it reminds me of what he said about matt elam. We don't seem to value ball hawking in baltimore. Aside from the ed reed pick, we seem to focus mostly on run stopping secondary players.
  3. Bamas scheme makes corners look better than they actually are. The FO should stop this anti LSU mindset . They create great polished secondary talent.
  4. dre has been awful, he had 1 decent but not great by any stretch of the imagination season last year. Bengal fans have never taken to him and hated the contract he was given. yeah, btw Cyrus jones in the 3rd round wasnt a reach..thats where i projected him. Humphrey is a 2nd round talent. I don't care how great his measurabes are.. if you're a first round corner, i want ball skills.and the ability to mirror recievers big or small.
  5. I saw that sports science video. Thing is that he doesnt play to that speed. He isn't a ''natural'' in that regard. Unless he drastically improves his footwork and ball skills along with developing an instinct to when to turn around it won't matter if he's usain bolt.
  6. where is the draft grades blog? not that i need it because I never expected us to pick him based on what i saw..I thought we wanted playmakers on both sides of the ball and as a corner he isn't a playmaker. he's a hard hitter thats great at destroying screens. He isn't this fluid, instinctive shadowing corner that you would pick in the top half of the first round. He's a SS.
  7. So was Dee milner and dre kirpatrick..more alabama nonsense whom i also saw as busts. never draft an alabama corner. Can you name any not named Kareem JAckson ( who's good not great) that have been not shown up in the pro's over the past decade?
  8. sure, which in genius with the seriously in-depth report posted that? Hate cookie cutter stuff like this.
  9. Last year I lauded the stanley pick because he was a polished player with a high floor and potentially all pro ceiling. I don't like this notion that you can't state how you feel about a player. No one here had humphreys as a desirable pick and most had him outside the top 4 corners. It's like whoever ozzie picks, okay we don't like him, we think he's overrated but what do we know? Ozzie is perfect and we know jack.. i don't agree, ozzie has been prone to more 1st and 2nd round messups than most in the past years.
  10. I liked the tavon pick. I said he'd be a great slot corner (can see it in my post draft review from last year). One of my 3 fav picks along with dixon and stanely. I have a good eye for talent and a good eye for busts this one is on the busts side.
  11. i dont have issue with BPA..need or not my point is that there is No chance in hell humphreys is better than OJ howard and he isn't as good of a corner as T.White, Conely, S.Jones, Moreu or even K.King!
  12. fine, PICK a corner BUT WHY HUMPHREY????? In this draft esp..trade back get a pick and then get a corner, don't give me nonsense like ''he's the best player on our board BY FAR''.
  13. remember when NO ONE wanted Perriman before the draft? No one wanted Humphreys as a corner. Most of us didnt want corners but the ones we wanted never involved humphreys for the reasons all described. Now as usual, we are not seeing things straight and imagining some lockdown corner and in truth, he's just another big athletic hitter.
  14. It's a poor pick guys. Sorry, but in alamabas scheme for a guy to give up as many big plays as he did, along with his clearcut inability to mirror recievers and poor instincts. Alabama corners generally suck. You can put this along with Elam and Perriman. I actually never mentioned him in any of our drafts as 1: If he was pure awesome or even close to lattimore/jones/white I'd have said he'd be great even if we wanted another position 2: He's a 2nd round talent I wish ozzie never played for alabama.
  15. i'd rather he just lied than be a flat out idiot..best player ''by far'' ? I'll bet if he played at LSU he wouldn't even be on their board.
  16. yeah we traded out of the first round. I'm just saying there were times when ozzie saw the stars while everyone else played cute and failed. now he does the latter... exceptionally well too, sadly..
  17. actually, he jams as well as anyone..
  18. we passed on gronk..and while gronk has had injury issues im pretty sure we'd have done better with him.. ahh that legendary draft..i wonder how many people here loved the terrence cody pick..?
  19. at saftey he could be a deone bucannon type. I'm kinda shocked the FO see him as a shadow corner. He's superb at the Line..he jams better than jimmy smith did at colorodo but boy when he has to turn his back and the ball is in the air he's useless!
  20. Why did he choose a corner that is more suited to SS? thats my issue. Why didn't he trade back? He overrated Marlon tremendously, they see something that isnt there. He will struggle.. if this was marshon lattimore or even a sidney jones i'd understand the pick, they are playmakers and fluid . HUmphreys really struggles with ball location and playing the ball in general. That isn't something you can ''teach'' you either have it or you dont. Ozzie really needs to go IMO.
  21. dont think you've escaped cam robinson yet.. ozzie isn't done in destroying us..yet..
  22. What i dont understand about our scouting dept or our FO belief system is that we seemingly have no interest in players that play the ball, specifically corners. We seem to be more interested in guys whos strengths are at the line rather than deep on the outside where big plays occur. I see no reason for the FO to have Humphrey ahead of t.white unless it's because of ozzies hatred of LSU. T.white is so much more polished and is a playmaker. the only think humphrey does better is break up screens. We have enough guys for that :/
  23. WEAKNESSES Impatient from press coverage. Opens inside or outside too early rather than waiting for a clear declare from receiver. Struggles to stay in phase throughout the route and allows separation opportunities. Feet are fast but sloppy. Footwork becomes bulky and balance diminishes when matched against quality route workers. Plays a scrambling style of coverage that is too reliant upon his athletic gifts. Issues playing the deep ball are a concern. From off coverage, overreacts to route fakes and opens the door to a big play. Allowed more than 19 yards per completion as a starter. Can be slow to locate the ball and finds himself out of optimal position to play the ball. DRAFT PROJECTION Round 1 SOURCES TELL US "There are some things on tape that really worry you. If he has trouble playing the long ball it is going to be bombs away against him and his team might have to change how they cover because of that. Those issues usually don't go away." -- Scouting director for AFC team NFL COMPARISON Jimmy Smith BOTTOM LINE Talented height-weight-speed prospect who comes from NFL bloodlines. Might need time for his technique to catch up with his traits. Coverage inconsistencies could cause him to struggle against quality competition early on, but his mental makeup and recovery talent should help him pull through. Has the instincts and run-support skills to become an early starter for a zone-cover defense, but it will be hard for teams looking for a lockdown, man corner to pass on all of those physical gifts early in the draft. Basically, expect him to be giving up big plays unless we play him in a more limited or specialized role with saftey help.
  24. i liked mosely. but there is no excuse taking humphrey over Allen Oj howard or R.foster. He plays more like a SS. I know this FO hates guys that actually make plays on the ball and prefer hard hitters but while everyone else here lauds this secondary, I think people are overrating it somewhat.
  25. bleacher report named us as one of the 3 losers of the draft, said the same thing as me..pretty much
