Matt Elam really thought he was the real deal from the get go. I remember the moment he got here he trademarked eat greedy and started printing teeshirts and i remember in his first game or two as a raven one of the commentators said they spoke to him about how he viewed his man to man skills ..his response '' elite'' then what about his cover skills '' exceptional''

I always felt there wasn't much going on in his head. I never saw him as an intelligent player. He has basic instincts but takes bad angles and has terrible field awareness. I was actually shocked that a team that prides itself on scouting couldn't see how crap he really was and how the college game made him look flashy rather than substantial. That whiffed tackle on amendola for me was the nail in the coffin for elam. Amendola is made of glass and if that were a pollard or landry or ihedgibo not only would it have been a tackle and stop on the spot ..amendola would likely not have played another snap.

You know..Daryl Washington would be a good replacement if we had to replace daryl smith. He's only 27-28..

daryl smith was no patch up..he was an excellent player. Pollard was a solid safety his entire career. Canty was in the tail end of his prime but a better player in his position than someone like cecil shorts. if you enjoy drops..you will enjoy cecil.

I believe in michael Campanaro..When he's healthy i really feel he could be a top receiver. He's super athletic for his size..hes got a great set of hands and his route running is good. If we could snatch Maxx williams in the second round ( and that is possible) and Draft Jalen Strong or Devin smith that will be enough to offset what we lost on offense.

I'd rather go with a youth movement if we can't sign anyone who isn't past it or just mediocre.

Average? he was very good in coverage and man . He's been a top 5 safety in the past two seasons.

all I'm saying is..if we sign the likes of cecil shorts…kendrick lewis etc that kind of stuff this offseason.. we are basically saying we are doing a patch up job for this year and next year will be a far better one

I don't know..with two aging edge rushers …daryl smith entering his mid 30's ..Webb past it…and with no upgrade worth speaking of so far ( i wouldn't call lewis an upgrade thats particularly relevant) i don't see how we can be blind to the fact that theres too many holes in this team and not enough cap to fix them. Rookies need 2 years in skill positions to really take a team to the next level. I feel next year will be better than this year as we will have cap and a tonne of picks.

Yeah but all I'm talking about are a couple of simple tackles that would have been either no gain or tackles for a loss for 98% of all DB's in this league. Small things..btw daniels TD chance wasn't easy..he had his arm swiped at and he had to stretch quite bit for it.

I'll keep this simple. If we had Pollard Landry or Ihedigo on the field instead of elam in that game vs the patriots at the VERY LEAST we would be driving for a Field Goal to win the game and wouldn't have had to take that shot at the end ( we didn't need to take that shot anyway but you get my point)

Then why not just put will hill at FS and put miles SS. Will HIll is at FS better than Lewis and Miles is better than Lewis at SS

Ok but what are you expecting. If average is best case scenario then fine..of you expect a good FS then i suggest you hope someone else comes in.

Thats the only positive Will Hill at SS is the best SS in the league.
