really getting excited about this season. the moves we're making show the team wants this team back in the race and hoisting Lombardi's. Weddle. Watson. now Wallace? we're looking to make up for lost time in a big way. Wallace in the right system is a blow the top off burner deep threat and a real machine that plagued us during his time in Steel city. Wallace alongside the likes of another burner in Perriman? and possession WR Steve Smith ? with Watson and Camp/boyle working the middle? we have a force to be reckoned with. we want big play ability, we want chunks of yards in which we lacked last season. I think this years offense will be a force all around. in moving those chains. big time.
interesting and exciting signing here, in Oz we trust
It seems like even the players don't care about the rivalry, seems like only Titan fans care about us. Remember two hard nose football teams, stealing players, breaking streaks, fights, all that. Then all of a sudden it just stopped. Hopfuly Mariota can change things. Anyone else kinda sad about this?
back when we were division rivals in the AFC Central. but since the league got rid of the AFC Central and The Titans are no longer in our division, that rivalry has died down quite a bit. if not all. Now if we play the titans more than we do, then it get attention but we sparingly play each other.
classic Ozzie move. Classic Raven Move. making little moves in the offseason that turn up big for us down the stretch. Ozzie has done this time and time again. nice move Oz.
Not true at all imo. All a concentration drop is, is a player breaking the process of making the catch. Be it poor hand placement, not seeing the ball into his hands, not having the right angles etc. That's an consistency issue and that is exactly what the juggs machine helps you with. Consistency.
now let me be clear, I don't think Perriman's hands are bad and I was just poking fun with the juggs machine comment. I just think his issue is a consistency issue, and i'm sure Engram will have him on the juggs machine often at the castle. I said before that I feel the consistency issues that Perriman have can be cleared up really quickly.
agreed, goes for all sports in general as well.... " keep your eye on the ball" .... you break your concentration and your eyes away, you lose where the ball is and boom, botched catch. in order to catch the ball completely and THEN get the YAC, one must first follow through with the catch process.
Perriman will be fine once he follows through on his catches.
concentration drops.
The Top TE in the draft...... with Pitta still in question and Daniels in Denver, TE was a need. rumor had it that the Steelers had their minds set on taking him and the Ravens leap frogged to one spot ahead and picked him. ......leaving the Steelers stumbling to what to do next.... using almost ALL time on the clock on their choice, they had to scramble....
have to admit I chuckled
sitting here thinking... anywhere from midfield and closer to the endzone, im getting excited to see both him and Aiken/Brown really working as redzone threats and envision them to be a tandem force. with Steve Smith as a over middle, this is exciting.
really liking this pick, big weapon for Flacco that can exploit his best attribute and can be a speedy option for us in the play action and the screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_OhPwh6dUg
This has to be a joke.
I said if his medical history cleared.
I have a name that could prove to be a viable option at WR for us.... IF... IF his medical history is finally cleared.................
Austin Colley. perhaps?
But we did also have a well rounded array of targets. Torrey, Boldin, healthy Dennis Pitta .. we don't have a single one of those guys just 3 years later. I do agree that you don't NEED a #1 wr but if you don't have one you better have multiple quality receiving options like we did in 2012 and even last year with Torrey, Smith Sr, Daniels. I'm a fan of Camp and Aiken but we can't just bank on them stepping into bigger roles smoothly, we tried that in 2013 with Doss and Thompson and it blew up in our face. I think we have better talent at wr now than in 2013 but I still get really worried when we put all our eggs in the basket of unproven players like that.
Smith Sr. has another good year in him, but we desperately need a TE who can catch, top priority right now. Then we can draft a wr in the 1st and we'll be in business. We can get away with only signing a guy like Denarius Moore before drafting our new top wr.. the thing we can't get away with is not getting a replacement for Daniels. Missing out on Chandler hurt, I would give up a 3rd for Vernon Davis a this point.
yes we had a good group of guys who could catch. block. whatever the need be in order to keep the play/drive alive, they were willing to do it, none of which are or were number 1 receivers at the time. BUT what made it work between the group of them was their ability to make something out of nothing. keeping the play alive. players that don't just catch the football, but does whatever the team needs them to, in order to come out on top. that's the type of players we need. a Good player/players that do and sacrifice what they have to for the team with the ultimate goal of championship in mind. we don't NEED a number One receiver. we need a WR that's willing to sacrifice it all to keep the offense on the field. the play and drive alive.
I think we don't necessarily NEED a number 1 receiver, I mean Torrey wasn't a number one for us when we won Super Bowl 47. I think what we really need is a group of good guys that gel well together and mesh with the offense and our quarterback much like what happened in 2012. we never had a true number one that year either, BUT we got the ball to the open guy and they made the plays that kept drives alive to put points on the board. ( remember Ray Rice's 4th and 29? Boldin's Massive block to let Rice pick up those extra 2-3 yards for the first down and ultimately win the game? and the turning point in the season for us? ) and that's just one prime example. we need a good core of players that gel...really gel , working together like that rather than a true number 1 receiver.
I could see Ozzie going for Chandler, from 2012 to last season he's proven to be a valuable TE option , on paper reminds me a lot of Todd Heap. if ozzie doesn't make a move on WR Bowe, I could definitely see him going for Chandler. BUT im not Oz. so we'll see.
2012........ 571 yards.......6 TDs
2013........655 yards.........2 TDs
2014........497yards........3 TD's
with the recent signing of Maclin in KC..... WR Dwayne Bowe, likely to be released..... and with a glaring need for a Pass catcher, a Bowe-Ravens would work, for the right price..... could you imagine that Smitty and Bowe? that be pretty awesome. if we don't sign someone in FA , a likely outlet would be the draft. a high draft pick, likely 1 or 2
main concern right now would be to evaluate whom we want to retain whom are scheduled to become UFA's , then scour the FA market for secondary help ( sorely needed) followed by O/D-Line/WR help ..although im liking Aiken and Campanaro . more and more....Pitta hopefully will be 100 percent and no setbacks and will actually be a force. so theres that too.
we'll see.
Ravens are now my second team
Go get Agent#89 a ring! I am really excited to see the fire from Smitty this season
welcome! anytime we can get more fans, the better! although Smith no longer see's himself as a Number 1, but a contrubting factor, his impact willbe felt throughout the field!
Intriguing that the Ravens are "talking" to Former Steeler S Ryan Clark,
Ok, what is up with this whole "Ice Up, Son" saying from him? Never been a fan of "catchphrases" or whatever you'd like to call them myself (even Sizzle's lines in the past) but you guys are going to wear it out before OTAs even start.
ice up, meaning " better ice your wounds after i burn you" or ice your body down cuz you down you'll never stop me
basically he's saying no matter what you may do, you cant stop me , so ice up son, your gonna need it
with us resigning our key free agents and securing the WR spot, the OL is the position i think they'll target in order to upgrade the OL. they have Yanda and Monroe , Oher just departed, as stated earlier, blocking upfront means flacco has the time to survey the field and deliver the football, no O-Line? no effective run game or passing attack.
Steve should however provide that 3rd and long, 3rd and short, reliable WR we need to make the necessary catches to keep the drives alive, while Torrey, Jacoby, and Marlon keep the defense on its heels along the perimeter , and Pitta roams the middle.
Sure, but I don't get what you're complaining about. We heard the news that Joe wants to have a private workout with his receivers about a week ago. Did you expect Flacco to run drills already? Kubiak still was working on the new playbook, clearly it wouldn't make any sense for the Ravens receivers to prepare for routes, that they won't have to run under the new system.
I don't even get where that "Flacco has no work-ethic"-myth comes from. Joe spend extra time with his brand new receivers last season for example and those are not the first instances of Flacco putting in extra work that I can recall.
The reason why the Mannings and Bradys of this world look so good and Joe Flacco looked so awful last season is the OL. The Raven offensive line was horrible. Not saying that Joe was on fire last season, but he was the 4th most sacked QB and he had the worst running game in the league. The Pats and Broncos might be "throw first teams" (not really considering the way NE played the playoffs), but they still have A running game (what did we have? 1 yard with every rushing attempt).
Getting Monroe was a good begining, but we still have an 8-8 OL standing in front of Joe, you know; the one, that crippled him by the end of the season. If the Ravens can't get anyone solid in FA, they HAVE TO invest HEAVILY in the OL in the draft...and no Cyrus Kouandjio.
was not complaining, your taking it the wrong way. fyi. just trying to get the point across that Flacco has now been given the weapons, and is the leader of this offense, take charge and get those workouts in.
This is a two way street and it would seem that veteran receivers would adapt much more quickly to a ball thrown by any QB. I doubt there will be any issues with Smith/Flacco.
i dont anticipate anything either between the two, but like everything in life, in order to get a system going with your WR's both new and old, you got to put in the time and effort to be that type of player, so that the offense as a whole can be the best of its potential. chemistry doesnt start on gameday and mandatory practices and OTA's , although thats part of it for sure, it starts when the Franchise QB starts organizing workouts with his WR core to get a pattern down, get a feel. not 1-2 workouts either, but like as the season inches closer, more and more so that when its mandatory? you already have that system in place more or less.
I hope Flacco never will be Manning. I want him to win SBs.
in terms of preparing so that this offense will be the best it can possibly be.
