That's not Ravens football. We need a power running game to compete in this division.
We have the pieces already. Just need a new C and to go back to old school power man run schemes.
We do have to give Flacco a top flight weapon though. Hell even Cleveland has one now in Gordon. We paid Flacco, no we need to actually give him some pieces to run with.
get Ray Horton!!!
Put him as a D-line coach or something
We have Clarence Brooks as the Dline coach who has done a commendable job over the last 7 odd years.
1. Norv
2. Chud
And Mike Munchak as the OL coach.
If possible that might be the pickup of the off season, over any player. His Olines in Tennessee before he became HC were filthy and full of only mid round guys.
I'll take Brian Billick as new OC Offensive genius !!!! Lol
His offense would actually be quite interesting to watch with a real QB at the helm and a WR that can actually get down field.
I felt bad for his offenses here in Baltimore. He was an offensive guy who never really got much much to work with and his boat sank with Boller. Which is equal parts on Ozzie and Billick.
I think the offense should be a power offense as well, but Harb's has been running a ZBS since he got here. Our O-line is smaller and athletic, which is what ZBS requires. If we wanted to run power, we'd have to change a lot of personnel up front to really have the ideal bodies there. (Think 2004 Ravens with JO, Bennie Anderson, Edwin Mulitalo, Orlando Brown) However since this change over looks likely, this might be just the time to do that. The drawback is that those road grater type of guys tend to not be as good at pass protection. Seeing as how that was terrible this year already, might not be too much of a risk.
Kubiak would be good for the current personnel and would add some movement to an otherwise static philosophy at QB. Flacco would be running more bootlegs and using play action, which I think suits him quite well. (think about when he rolled out last year in the playoffs...he was money).
I would also like seeing Hue Jackson back in bmore. He's got an intensity and attitude that carries down to the players. He already has relationship with Joe, since he was his QB coach and he's likely got a chip on his shoulder after losing the Oakland job. Another bonus with Hue is that he's been helping game plan against the AFC north in the recent past.
I wouldn't mind Norv Turner either, since he likes to air it out deep (which is Flacco's best asset), but I think his scheme would be too similar to Cam's since they both come from the Air Coryell background.
Actually an interesting point I didn't think of. Hue will already know how to attack Pitt and Cleveland's defenses.
Surprised you guys want Chudzinski after DeAngelo Williams basically paid his way to get Chuds butt out of Carolina because he refused to the run the ball.
and the ex-Ravens wanna play for him! go figure!
#Mili
Those ex Ravens just want a spot on a team.
You're talking about a team (Texans) "augering" into the ground after a fight for the flight controls. That team is in complete chaos.
After they pulled Reed, I saw their safeties torched over the top. They looked like Cleats and Digger staring into the backfield.
Did Reed speak up? Yes he did. Did it cost him remaining on the roster? I think it did. But guess what, theres guarantee money. It was an expensive position of principle to let him go for addressing whats really wrong with the other safeties playing like abbott and costello... I mean ours.
. Anyone judging Reed's remainder on the disaster in Texas is playing Fantasy Football.
Combined with poor play. If he's playing lights the team isn't going to cut him because he said something as simple as "I think we were out coached by a worse team."
That is my point. Mason should have never retired as a Raven. He has even less right than Reed considering we did not draft him.
And I remember someone in the media saying another team was courting him to come and that he was taking a paycut albeit a small one. The validity to this is uncertain as it was a media talking head, but I do remember hearing it.
Damn that's pretty ruthless. Few people will get to retire as Ravens in your world lol.
It was Dallas but that was an inherent rumour. I read sources citing Lewis' inner circle that Lewis had no intention of leaving, just wanted to be paid what he was worth (considering he was coming off an All Pro year and would have 2 more Pro Bowl appearances in 2010 and 2011)
Second, I think it cheapens the meaning of when someone retires a "Raven". To this point there has been only two who were pretty good (putting it mildly) and retired with us. It cheapens how special that really is when players do that. I mean my two favorite Ravens were JO and Ray and it is not coincidence they retired here. I mean Ray did not take a pay cut but he settled for cheaper than he had to to stay here. That is far more special than taking a big paycheck somewhere else and then coming back just so you can say you retired a Raven when we all know you really retired a Texan.
Mason retired as a Raven after he moved on unsuccessfully to the Jets and Houston. Reed is no different. He needs to retire a Raven even if its a 1$ contract.
Also Lewis didn't accept less to stay here. On the contrary we paid him far more than any team was going to.
Should bring back Pollard (I know hes not cut lol) and Ed Reed only for the NE game.
Lol. Pollard's good for knocking out at least one guy from the game.
Resign him so the last jersey he ever wears is a Ravens one. I didn't see much of him with the Texans but it appeared they started using him closer to the line than the centre field he was used to playing here the last 4 years. Wonder if that did him in. Thats alot more change of direction on his hip than Im sure it could handle.
Layer Cake and Die Hard 1 are up next
Layer Cake is good, kind of in the same vein as Snatch humour wise. Those English movies really get me, love the blatant sarcasm and English irony.
i drove down fron Edmonton in 2009 after i got back from Afghanistan , worth every hour and every peny !!!!
show up at around 1000 and they ll be plenty of tailgaiters.....no timmies in B-more so bring your own ......
Holy hell, you DROVE from Edmonton?! How long did that take? Im in the prairies also but I flew down when I went twice lol.
You mean like when JJ got a shot at OLB when Thomas walked in free agency? Or Bart Scott?
I totally agree, let's see if Doss/Reed can handle it as well as see if Christian/Omar can fill in for Reed.
Wasn't Thompson taken to be a SS? I thought he was limited in his coverage range.
It's rumored that we're interested in Danny Amendola according to the Sun.
What an atrocious move that would be. Has Amendola ever played a full season?
I don't know how the FO does it, but I guess they trust Doss to step in.
What I don't really like about this move is that it all but ensures we take a WR in the first 3 rounds. Something I was hoping to avoid with the glaring galaxy size holes at ILB and NT.
Can't hold on to the ball. I'm just not ready to put Doss in the slot yet. I'd much rather give Rainey another chance.
The 4th string HB? You want to give him a chance at WR....
Michael Oher is getting paid 3.5 million this year, where this draft has the deepest level of offensive tackles. Should we look to move him before he is a free agent next year?
Just food for though, I get that the older guy goes. I do. I just don't see us doing well with out that possession guy and Reed/Doss are not the option.
I'd rather not go into 2013 with 2 brand new Ts next year. Really 3.5 isn't that much for a starting RT who has never missed a game and can play LT in a pinch.
Suggs' and Ngata's cap hits are tough to look at though. Unfortunately Suggs is 30 coming off an achilles tear and biceps tear and Ngata hasn't been healthy for an entire year since 2010 I think. Can't restructure guys who likely won't make it passed the end of their current contract.
Do you know the reason we are having to release players at this point?
Please tell us all why, and i wont respond. I'll let everyone else do it.
You don't even know either. Flacco's 6.8 mil cap hit is PALTRY in the grand scheme of things this year.
Just because the contract says 120mil over 6 doesn't mean he takes up 45mil of the cap space this year.
Brian McFarland @RavensSalaryCap
Release of Boldin would create $6M in Cap savings. It's a BIG chunk for what they want to otherwise do but would be hard pill to swallow IMO
What the hell are we trying to do? Resign Kruger as well? That statement confuses me.
Did they make you watch it in school or something?
Bruno Ganz was incredible as Hitler. I'm so used to seeing him in mild-mannered roles (Like Unknown).
Flawless performance in my opinion. Ganz captured the delusion of 1945 Hitler perfectly. Too often he's conveyed as someone with mental deficiencies, which wasn't the case, he was wound in his created image of [slur deleted] Germany, diluted with paranoia and draped in delusions which caused his erratic decision making and behaviour late in the war.
Downfall is a must see movie in my opinion.
It has also spawned some of the best parodies on youtube of all time.
I saw RocknRolla a few years ago, I only remember it for Kebble and the always reliable Mark Strong. Layer Cake and Gangster #1 are pretty good too.
Big fan of those British multiple stories within a story movies, particularly Guy Ritchie films (Lock Stock, Snatch, Rock N Rolla). Layer Cake is a good one too, pre Daniel Craig becoming a massive movie star. The ending was a total What the heck? moment for me lol.
A Cat for Mayor? Apparently a cat named Tuxedo Stan is running for Mayor of a city in Canada.

A Cat for Mayor? Interesting.
Theres a cat who is the mayor of an actual town in Alaska for the past 12 years lol.
The owner just wants to go Bob Barker on everyone and raise awareness for pet control.

Still can't help believe that the '10 tank job by the Colts was an obvious attempt to get Luck.
Caldwell can't be judged on that when he had nobody remotely close to even work with that year.
