Which is benefit of hiring both.
And Dennison as well. If this goes through, we just picked up 3 OCs in a single day lol.
Didn't anticipate Kubiak being interested in an OC job, but he'd more than acceptable.
The part that makes no sense is Shanahan coming along for the ride.
Weird
My thinking is if Kubiak does well here in one year he'll get a HC job somewhere, then Shanahan will just continue on with the offense as the OC. Shanahan didn't get many looks for an OC job out there this year so this is his next best shot.
Kubiak's been in 6 Super Bowls. I would like to see him make that 7.
I don't know. I just think that the potential is there for some really good ideas to swirl around, along with a completely different way of looking at the offense now. The big names are great, but even big names can fail, so I'm not really amazed at who he's bringing on right now. I'm just excited about the potential.
To think after all these years we've really only had 1 real OC in Cameron, who ran his course here after about 2 years and Billick taking the reigns himself in 2006. Now we could, possibly, be getting 3 guys at the same time who could conceivably all be OCs somewhere.
Are people just more excited about Kubiak because he has more experience than Shanahan (because they run virtually the same system) or is it the possible influx of talented coaches Kubiak will bring with him that truly has people giddy?
Or being the real SB MVP. But sure, you go ahead and remember him for whatever happened in that bus.
Real MVP? Please.
Tbh when they ran what seemed like 90% shotgun plays would tell me the system changed last year.
Shanahan will play to his players strengths(ex RG3). I'm not sure if Hostler will but I wouldn't be surprized if Flacco is endorsing him cuz he wants to play out of shotgun but is that really the best.
We didn't do that because we wanted to though. We did that because the Oline was awful in run and pass blocking. It was a way to give Flacco more time and to get less guys in the box on plays we did try to run the ball.
If we had been able to run the ball at all we wouldn't have seen near as much shotgun.
Think what's being overlooked (maybe not initially) but more recently in this topic is that if they go with Shanahan the FO and Harbaugh know the system needs to be changed and that the system is the problem.
If they go with Hostler the FO and Harbaugh don't think the system is the problem, just they haven't found the "right" guy to run the same system they've had since 2008.
When I worked in schools, we always told the kids to find a more credible website than Wikipedia. It's not that it's completely inaccurate, but it's just that anyone with a Wikipedia account can type in information on the site. They do have random times when they clear off the inaccurate information, but they're notorious for having fallacies because it's a public site. If you wanted to say London was the capital of France, it'd probably be left up there until either the workers of Wikipedia removed it or another contributor did.
With all that said, if it has to come down between Shanahan and Hostler, I hope Wikipedia is correct.
Still works that way today. Even up here in ol Canada. Though oddly enough I had a university biology prof who said it was a good website to get information from in terms of biology because in his "lookings" everything had been cited and cited properly.
Some of these posts make one wonder if people actually want Hostler? A guy who spectacularly crashed and burned in his first chance as an OC.
Yet in the same breath they think Kirby needs to get experience, but somewhere else because we don't seem to have the time for growing pains, all the while willing to hand Hostler a redemption chance?
Sound logic there. Don't give a guy without OC experience, whom by all accounts would have been the Steelers OC had he not almost died, but we'll give it to a guy who was so horrible during his 1 year stint that Gore would have rioted if Hostler was brought back. Essentially some are saying they're into second chances when that persons first was god awful, but not first chances for someone who has the credentials for an opportunity.
Kirby is out of the running, via Aaron Wilson.
I believe that leaves Shanahan as the last outside candidate standing, so he'll probably get the nod.
Great, Shanahan vs Hostler.
I heard from Luke Jones that Kirby Wilson was handling a little more of the offensive game planing responsibilities for the Steelers during the later part of the season.. I heard it from wnst audio vault where it saids Luke Jones (WNST) joins Glenn for a Ravens report on OC search . link
Kirby actually probably intrigues me the most of the remaining candidates. Think he's more of a power run guy if Im not mistaken. Though he has no experience. Im actually surprised with how much we're looking into Shanahan considering he's from THE zone blocking tree in the NFL. I thought Harbaugh had given up on that?
Though he promoted Castillo... contradictions abound in this post of mine lol.
Was he really that heavy? That's really big for a QB, and I know Ben is thick but that's a lot.
Lol no, but I think it was documented at 260 for sure a little while back.
Steelers offense lacked talent at times, but they always figured out how to manufacture an offense. They always figured out how to get the ball to their play makers. Their run game improved as the season went, too.
Some of those years was just Ben under siege and being 280 pounds watching LBs bounce off of him, then chucking up a bomb.
And it worked way too many times lol.
Anyone else think it odd that we don't have an OC right now but we're scouting the senior bowl for offensive playmakers? One would assume an OC would have an idea what guys would fit his scheme.
The level of quietness coming from this search tells me there is something brewing in Charm City. We very well may be in for a huge surprise when they hire the OC. The OC may be someone that we haven't even thought about yet, someone who may possibly be even better than the guys we're supposedly considering hiring.
By real time vote through mobile phones based on Baltimore's Madden 14 playbook lol.
Yep, seven years ago, when he was 40, when he had a bum QB, and when he had never done it before. Outdated data
Please, they gave him a real OC with a real offensive philosophy and he actually started growing.
The fact that he knows our offense in and out is important. He is a senior assistant on John's staff and knows what direction we want the offense to go. He has playcalling experience.
I'm really just playing Devil's Advocate here. I'd much rather have an outside voice brought in, but I don't think Hostler would be a disaster either.
I'd argue that him knowing the offense and likely continuing it is the reason he shouldn't be the coordinator, nevertheless how he showed gross incompetence in his prior posting as an OC.
The offense doesn't need a continuation of the system run since 2008. It needs new life breathed into it.
How about considering the fact that the last time he was an OC, he flat out failed?? How about the fact that last time he was an OC, his players pretty much hated him because he sucked at his job? That's consideration for ya.
Ya they don't even need to waste time interviewing Hostler. The guy practically had his ex players paying his plane ticket to get the hell out.
And also, Hostler "knowing the system" should be another reason he doesn't get interviewed. The offense needs a philosophy change or some monster WRs.
We are interviewing hostler
Better be strictly so we can truly figure out just how much he doesn't know about offense.
how come it didn't work in houston with a loaded roster?
Didn't work? Foster led the league in rushing one year and AJ continually goes well over 1200 yards.
Not that it means much, but according to the owner of Jimmy's Seafood in baltimore, Gary Kubiak and his wife were in town tonight eating dinner there. Could just be a coincidence obviously, but it could also mean we have an interview planned.

Would fit with the pure zone blocking direction we seem to be headed in. With Castillo as the only Oline coach there is, we'll be doing zone blocking again. At least Kubiak knows how to call plays that take advantage of zone blocking and will be able to show Castillo how it works.
Weird Science?
That girl was so hot lol
Cloud Atlas is just wow.
So lost lol
Lol, its a trying movie to say the least. Though I think the premise is quite interesting, in that some lives are inexplicably linked through time, no matter if your life was replayed 100 times, your best friend would still be your best friend in every scenario, Cloud Atlas portrays it through reincarnation however.
I'm worried to watch that one because I've been disappointed by every one of the supposedly classic 80's movies in that same vein.
Its a legit movie and take it from me, outside of Uncle Buck (which is barely an 80s movie) I despise the "classic 80s" movies and really most everything associated with that generation lol.

False. Two plays don't make you MVP of the Super Bowl. Especially when one came off the arm of the QB who won the award.
