Signing Monroe made taking Martin in the first a ridiculous decision. You don't take a RT in what's basically the top of half of the first round. Especially when Monroe is in the prime of his career and JUST signed a 5 year deal.
Mosley is the first plug and play (as in he'll play week 1 and not due to illness or injury) draft pick we've taken since Grubbs.
Smith is gone after year 2. He signed a 4 year deal and he's already 32. They won't keep him when he's 35. Now you have two guys at ILB that you don't have to sub out for in nickel packages.
Have you guys watched Mosley play? I didn't watch many guys this year but Mosley is a 3 down ILB. Those guys are rare these days.
He's a child and doesn't know passion, hard work and devotion.
I don't know about that. He played and excelled at Alabama. You can't just show up with Saban and be the starting MLB every week.
He just lost his desire. When you lose that you can't get it back and you can't know that until you've tried.
I don't hate him for trying to come back to see if he still loved football. Its not like theres a minor league we could have sent him to to see first hand if he was willing to muck it out in the minors. Playing in places like Hannibal or Jamestown or Haggerstown to see just how much he wanted to be back. Football is a different animal that way.
Bring him in for camp. Can't lose anything there.
Redskins. Sean Taylor and Laron Landry. Too bad it was so brief, only half a season. Laron's rookie year and Sean's last. Those guy would've destroyed recievers
Oooh, well done sir.
Well, before the Super Bowl season Ozzie said we're going to improve the d-line. We signed two vets and drafted two defensive linemen.
Before the 2013 season, he said we wanted an athletic linebacker, a safety, and a defensive linemen. Then we got Elam, Brown, and Brandon Williams in that order.
At the recent state of the Ravens address, he said we wanted a free safety, a chain moving WR, and stronger offensive linemen. so far, we got Steve Smith and Zuttah.
If you pay close attention, Ozzie does exactly what he says he's going to do. Lol.
He'll draft a FS early, just don't think in the first. I dont even recall the last team to have 2 #1s at safety.
Interesting note
If Walt says it then it must be a good thing.
Dickson won't be back. Flacco doesn't trust him. He was open many of times towards the back half of last year and Flacco didn't even bother looking his way.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ravens draft Zach Martin he can play all along the line.
Since Weeden brushed the Ravens off I'd love to see the staff look at Fitzpatrick or Campbell if the dollars make sense..
Think it was the other way around after playing against him for 2 years.
Not missing out on much.
haha, I was going to say Jimmy looks like such a stoner in that pic....but, well, you know....Colorado
Man D.Smith looks the most out of it in that picture lol.
It's doubtful that the departures of Art Jones, Graham, or Oher will yield us comp picks higher than the 5th-round, though, right?
I can see Art garnering a 4th. The others definitely not over a 5th.
Apparently Ozzie has already contacted Steve Smith's reps.

Its linked to an ESPN article so its not solely PFT for the record.
Mack: 6'4 311lbs
De La Puente: 6'3 306 lbs
5 lbs is a deal breaker? That's a Big Mac dinner with a large fry. Look around the league - centers aren't much bigger than Gino - they are just better.
And Mack has a nasty streak. Big attribute.
Veldheer is the guy this fan wants. If you're gonna pay, pay there.
Monroe sucks. McKinnie is a Free Agent...........lace his contract with weight and performance incentives, get him back and go from there.
We are not going to be a much better team than last year. We can target the LT of the future in this draft or next year's draft. Would rather do that than let Oz try to score on a Receiver with the top pick. Oz is clearly having trouble evaluating the passing game.
If you're gonna fix the whole OLine this year. Veldheer.
Because that worked before...
He has a very good case for wr pay. They usually use the amount of snaps played. That was the problem with Suggs original contract. Couldn't decide if to pay him at OLB or DE.
Thought had more to do with scheme with Suggs because the 34 OLB tag was muddled due to 43 OLB contracts.
But either way, I don't see how Pitta could expect the full WR tag. If anything with Suggs the Ravens have prior knowledge in this game.
In theory yes, but the franchise tag only qualifies you as a WR. So if he holds out, he's getting top WR money, regardless of where he was on the field at the position. That gives him all the leverage. If the team tries to pay him as a a slot wr, he's getting years worth of slot money with the tag.
Doesn't it all go to an independent arbitrator in that situation between TE/WR?
Just heard something interesting on ESPN. Pitta was flexed out into the slot on the majority of his snaps, not out wide. He wants to get paid like a receiver, so let's pay him as a slot receiver. The most highly paid slit receiver was Wes Welker, who made $6 million per year. Boldin is negotiating for $4-$5 million from San Fran.
He's not nearly as productive as those two, so let's pay him the $3-$4 million he deserves as a slot receiver
Wonder how Pitta and his management would react to that logic lol.
Has the look of Ray Lewis' last contract with the Ravens. Rays was 3 years and then 4 non guaranteed ones wasn't it?
Doesn't seem the greedy type?
We had to franchise tag him twice because he was holding out for more money. I love the guy but he wants the money. Maybe he'll give us that hometown discount everyone talks about but I'm pretty sure that discount is a myth.
In fairness to him, he didn't expect anything outlandish. His first tag he knew he wasn't an OLB in the 43 sense of the definition so he accepted a hybrid contract between DE and OLB. His second tag was just to work out the extension for which he was paid his worth,
I was more posting that for the first part, but yeah, I agree lol.
No I know lol, I was just stating an opinion on the tweet. I didn't think that was your own statement.
From a WNST interview with Harbs
Harbaugh on Suggs in 2014: "Ozzie and Terrell's people will get it done..I'd like to see him finish as a Raven...and get a statue."
Statue? I love Suggs, he's the last remaining link to some dirty defenses and he's the only guy who played with both Lewis and Reed in their primes left in the league but unless Suggs goes on a tear and leads the team to another Super Bowl, virtually single handedly defensively, he's not getting a statue.
He also needs to not be fat for the entire season next year.
Cutting or trading Ngata only frees up $1M in cap space.
Trading him, if the team picks up the duration of his contract as well, frees us from virtually his entire cap hit does it not?
It was widely talked about that Jones was just as, if not more deserving than Flacco. Its okay, I have no agenda to belittle Joe, just sharing an opinion. First response was deleted, so hopefully this one sticks long enough for you to see it
Ya I saw that, actually my initial response was as well. He had impact plays theres no doubt, I just think people hold that notion more so because his was the last TD scored on the kick return and those 7 helped Baltimore hold on.
Id maintain Flacco's 3rd and 2 completion to Boldin was just as important and impactful.
The scheme works extremely well in 11 and 12 personnel, especially if your second TE can block in the backfield and if your third WR can block safeties well. It works very well in the 21 as well, but I think Kubiak's scheme works best with 12 personnel, the second TE being a move guy.
I would actually bet on Leach getting cut. Juice is the perfect FB/TE for this offense, if his blocking gets better
Juice is literally made to play in this scheme. Its going to be interesting watching him motioning all over the place in and out of different positions. We'll finally get to see what scouts saw in him at least.

Shazier is 6'1 235 at OLB. If that's an elite measurable then half the guys on this board have an elite measurable. Besides, half the time Ohio St had to scheme him open on the rush because of his small size. He's going to be rather useless against the run in a traditional alignment.
