  1. On the D side, there's no "replacing" T-Sizzle, but hopefully we can patch the hole well enough to continue to harrass all but the best protected QB's, and our DB's looked alright last night. CJM is boss, and with Suggs out for the year, it is his opportunity to step up and be the captain of this D, because that is what everyone in the FO and the rest of us have in our mind's eye for the future for this kid.

  2. Well I'm going to look on the bright side and say this is probably the worst the O will play all year, it was against one of the best D's in the league, in their house, and it's our new OC's first game. Our LT went out early, and our field stretching first round draft pick isn't on the field yet, but should be soon. Things will get better.

  3. Play Renner start to finish. If the kid is going to the practice squad give him a big send off. Who knows? He may have the game of his life and move Schaub off the roster.

This probably won't happen I guess because the Ravens don't want other teams to get too interested in him if he goes great and maybe pluck him off PS.  Also with Joe being Mr Indestructible, this game is probably (hopefully) going to be the most snaps Schaub will see all season.  I definitely think the kid (Renner) has shown flashes and has the potential to be more than just a single-preseason practice meat guy.

  4. I will be very disappointed if Tucker,Yanda,KO are not signed...yet Ozzie signs a couple second tier players like Hill. We have the best kicker in the NFL, a HOF Caliber RG Yanda, and pro bowl caliber LG KO, combo the best G tandem in NFL. Individually and collectively better then Hill and make this team a SB Contender yrly..they deserve extensions before a borderline pro bowl safety at best. With all due respect Hill aint Ed Reed.

Have no fear, a lot of dead money comes off the books at the end of this season, the salary cap will go up another ten or so million.  Look at most of our position groups, we have great juniors still on rookie contracts, with the odd veteran on modest money (because they are happy to be here in a great organisation that's consistently a contender), and a handful of studs who need (and deserve) to get paid.  We are in great shape.

A lot of it is just fear of bad PR. Though why they don't manage PR sensibly and will rather be a losing team without the media hassle, I don't know. Make an announcement, send some team money to a DV charity, have him become a face of some org that helps either DV victims or the offenders with temper management, live through the 1 week of bad publicity, then move on to football and be glad, that with Ray you might still bee talking about football in January.

Dorota you should have a career in PR, that was well thought out and eloquently put.  I would never have thought of that.

  6. Upshaw is a beast, no doubt about it, and to date has been more of an "enabler" than a "stats-man".

And there is a certain irony here:

    - If he racks up "stats" this year, he may get priced out of the Ravens, but if he chases the big money he will likely end up at some team of also-rans who habitually overpay for the "stats"

    - If he remains an enabler, and posts limited "stats" he may still get priced out of the Ravens (less likely though), but would end up at a team that know his true value, one of those teams who are perenially in the hunt, a team like us.

sorry, I am probably stating the obvious

  7. well I just donated about six bucks to the swear jar, was really looking forward to him contributing this year, get better soon Brent.

I'll admit I don't pay any attention to other teams during training camp ... do they all suffer this much of an injury toll in camp?

  8. We know that there is a strong likelihood that we play the PATS again this year in the post-season. We also know how much Pollard likes them. Please oh please, bring him back.

Damn that brought a wicked grin to my face :->

I'd be happy for Pollard to come back, so long as their are no locker room issues, maybe just make him locker buddies with SSS (which seems to be my solution for everything lately)

Hello, special teamers are people to...

cue Ralph Wiggam quote ... and yeah our wolfpack is one of the best in the league at their business

  9. I could say something facetious like at least he is building the confidence of our secondary, but the fact is he is an ex-probowl player, who likely still has the talent and the arm, but there is something going on upstairs (probably confidence related) that has switched him off in the last three years. If there is a team that will bring out his best, over time, it's our team.

And Matt Schaub aside, how many backups in the league would you trust to take you deep in the playoffs? For that matter how many starting QB's would you trust to take you deep in the playoffs? There's only about ten or twelve I'd trust, and we got the most resilient one.
