Talk about needlessly reading into something and taking unnecessary offense. All I'm saying is that everytime I used to go into those threads and say "well Flacco shouldn't be absolved of all blame, he's certainly nowhere near the biggest problem on the team and he has little help, but some of the decisions he makes are entirely on him" I get negged to death, and as such I stopped going into those threads. That's literally all i'm saying there, I certainly didn't say there was no such thing as objectivity here, you may be confusing me for the other guy who was saying that. I even said later in that comment that you quoted that there is plenty of sane discussion to have on Flacco, it just doesn't usually happen in those threads.

I just dont see it your way, wasnt technically directed at you, just making the statement.  I should of pointed that out.

Not that this thread needs to devolve into more Flacco discussion, but around here in Flacco threads you get two sides and no in between - either you see him do no wrong or he is the sole reason we've been terrible -

This makes zero since.  In the massive Tough Talk thread about Joe, there have been many, many people that are in between, for instance me.  I support Joe, but he has to play better, but cutting him or trading him or saying he needs some support around him makes me a homer? got it.

Sidenote, i expect a big trade in the first round, no idea who....what team, etc....

Flacco peaked with the super bowl win, but he did have a good 5 yr run.

I just don't think you can fairly asses it that way.  After the SB, we trade Boldin, PItta and Rice get hurt.  Not to mention the OC musical chairs we have always delt with.  He does need to play better, obviously, but the FO also needs to put some talent around him.

I honestly think this coming year will be Joes most efficient year, but having a run game is the make or break imo.

Who is available in this scenario? If we're talking pass rushers I'm taking Tim williams, reddick, and McDowell over takk. I'd take any of the 3 WRs over him, and I'd take Forrest lamp and possibly cam Robinson over him as well.

So is Takk about your least favorite pick in that range?  What are you not thrilled about him?

  5. Man, I just cant get down with the Corey Davis selection.  Not that I think he wont be good, I don't know what it is.  But I would be happy with these two picks for the most part.  Williams looks like a beast.  Whats the deal with the shoulder issue?

That's true but i still don't really like it as an idea so much to be honest - that's probably where most of my objections come from

I would definitely prefer more in this draft.  Would you be overall happy if we did this and lets say took Tim Williams with our first pick available?

I don't think there's any way we take future picks in a draft this deep and strong - it'd have to be picks this year to compensate especially for a move this far back - we'd be moving back more picks than will have been picked for essentially a couple of 4ths - obviously the extra 2nd next year is nice but it's also next year and we don't know it's value yet...

Very true, but in theory we could use that next year second and make a trade this year.

  8. Since im not familiar with college football, it always helps when a player's school is included.  Or maybe that's just me.

I like Takk and I like that we got a CB in the second, addressed two big needs with the first two picks.  We could be building a awesome defense here, even when our defense looked great at times last year.

  9. From Bill Barnwell over at Espn, doing a mock of trades.  Every team had a trade, here is the link and here is what he said for us.

I would be ok with this, depending on who is available at 16.  But coming away with all these picks would be huge.

    49ers get: 1-16, 6-186
    Ravens get: 2-34, 4-109, 4-143, 2018 second-round pick

If the 49ers aren't confident about getting Kirk Cousins and want to draft one of the defensive stars with the second overall pick, here's a deal in which they get back into the middle of the first round to nab a quarterback. The Ravens are likely looking for pass-rushers and offensive linemen, and in this draft, it's better to go after those guys in the middle rounds. Ozzie Newsome should be effective at drumming up interest in this pick from teams looking at quarterback options, and while it would be tempting for the Ravens to trade this selection for San Francisco's 2018 first-rounder, my deal provides a mix of useful draft assets for a Baltimore team that is increasingly dependent upon guys playing out rookie deals.

When he scores touchdowns with his really wide frame he will spike it in your face you'll get STOKED, when he pulls out front into the seams he won't get stuffed. Deep in D he's running, with Flacco and co. gunning.

Oh draft pick, I wanna get wit'cha, the draft skeptics tried to warn me, but that combine you had makes me so....

I'm a big fan of Bowser.  Needs some work as a pass rusher but he should be able to play from day 1 with his coverage abilities.  I think he could be a guy that can play pretty much every LB spot regardless of scheme.  It's amazing how much Houston made him drop into coverage, and it's not easy to find too many actual pass rushing situations for him on tape.  When he does rush the passer, you can see the speed and explosion.  He just needs to further develop his pass rush moves.  I liken him to Jamie Collins.  I think he's a very similar player if he can continue to develop.

are you thinking 2nd or 3rd round?

Strong looking stand up linebacker - played a lot of coverage so may end up getting drafted as a 4-3 olb or even inside for some teams but definitely projects best as an edge guy - he's athletically pretty gifted, is quick to blitz and uses his athleticism to beat guys despite being quite raw still - probably a 3rd round type guy (he is for me anyway) but might get reached on

He looks interesting.  Just didnt know much about him.  With the amount of defensive talent in this draft, we really have a chance to turn things around quickly.
