Made it through 'A Serbian Film' last night and it definitely belongs in the discussion for THE most disturbing film. Just Wow. Its the sort of movie that makes you feel down right dirty after watching.
Surprised at the Production Value. I was expected a poor quality film, bad acting. I'm amazed on how you get people (actors, crew, investors) to buy into the film. "This is what I want to shoot........"
Salo on Crack.
I watched this quite some time ago. When i was in the Marines a buddy and i had the idea to find the most messed up movie possible, but yet a movie that was actually good and just not some butcher flick. I think this is that movie. I ended up burning numerous copies of it and passing it around to some Marine buddies, needless to say i was plauged as a very dark individual after that, cant blame them though. Ill most likely get attacked after this comment, but the overall message of the movie made sense, depicting the cost of greed.
Deer Hunter was made before ADD was an excuse for everything. It's class.
if class you mean...boring...all over the place....horrible camera work... then your right. And i have one question, maybe i just fell asleep and woke up later, but how did they go from a wedding to a war in a split secong....
been awhile since ive visited this thread, some good reminders of some movies i need to downloa...i mean buy. Heres a couple ive watched recently
Hunger games- never read the books but i thought it was a very cool idea. Nothing crazy but i think its worth the watch
The Raven- i was so excited to see this, maybe my expectations were to high but i got really bored when watching it, if your bored have at it....
The Deer Hunter- someone on here was talking about it awhile back so i watched it...was not a fan at all.
It was not actually a shot at the Ravens. It was really the mayor of Pittsburgh Luke Ravenstalh, this was his cameo.
i cant believe a guy with that name got elected there
get the gringo with mel gibson was actually pretty cool,i reccomend it
I can't wait for the next Anchorman.
I have mixed feelings. The orginal is such a classic, there is a lot of hype to follow, i mentioned this a couple pages back....its like the boondock saints, the first one was amazing and had like a cult following...the second one was literally an abortion. I just hope they can deliver
sidenote: The newsroom episode 4 was amazing. I completely agree with his views on that reality tv bs and what he was trying to accomplish....
So i watched some movies this weekend and thought id throw out my reviews
American reunion- great movie, gotta love the original guys back together. Hits home with me considering im comming up on my 10 year high school reunion and i picture it just like that with my buddies.
Act of valor- good action scenes with horrible acting, nothing specail at all
Also here are some interesting movies comming out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsdnACcG6_w i think this looks awesome, kevin james looks pretty good in it
So i know this is the movie thread but we do discuss tv series and i just started watching one that is woth mentioning, im sure im late to the party but The Newsroom with Jeff Daniels is amazing. if you havent heard of it or seen a trailer...here ya go.
Lol, yeah right. Probably more along the lines of Superbad.
The dudes in Project X went to hard.
"And make sure you wear sumthin tight"
Haha that dude made the movie, Costco or something was his name. You can never go too hard lol
Project X was awesome. 30 minutes into it and it already felt like a classic. I thought it was really good.
Completely agree. i said the same thing to my girl...makes me remember my high school parties lol
watched a couple movies last night
clash of the titans- i liked it a lot, love those types of movies
man on a ledge- had very low expectations and it turned out pretty damn good
project x- american pie on steroids, pretty damn funny
Thats great info, im trying to stack up on the protein and will continue to do so. Also, a great app for keeping track of this stuff for anyone interested is called My Fitness Pal. it will break down all food for you and tell you how much you need to be eating a day etc
You can give it a try, but I don't think you're going to see the kind of results you want. You'll burn up the fat and you'll build lean muscle. But if you're wanting to bulk up, then you're going to be disappointed. You can continue what you're doing to torch the fat, but at some point you are going to need the excess caloric intake to build the mass you want.
~ Malkavian Raven
I see. I guess ill just continue to attempt to bulk up althought ive hit a wall at 155ish when my goal is 170. I know im not eating enough, thats the tough part. I just cant find the appetite most of the time and it does get expensive. Any reccomendations for cheap eating to bulk up? feel free to pm if youd like
charles
It has and always will be a dilemma. You can have both, but you need to get rid of the gut first by dieting and doing lots of cardio that keeps your heart rate up to burn off the excess calories that are stored as glycogen in your fat cells.
To build mass, you need to heavier weight training and excess calories to repair damaged muscle to make them grow and get stronger.
See how the two contradict themselves?
~ Malkavian Raven
So, should i cut calorie intake and continue to lift heavy? thats the only thing i can think of
If you're looking to get rid of belly fat, sit-ups aren't going to do you any good. Sit-ups do not directly target your abdominal muscles, but rather your hips. Secondly, your abdominal muscles are buried under the wall of belly fat, so you'll never see physical results anyway.
If you want to get rid of belly fat, here's a few quick pointers:
a.) watch your caloric intake, try reducing it
b.) try to cut out sugars
c.) if you drink or smoke, cut that out
d.) when you workout, workout all of your muscle groups
e.) walking, dancing, basketball, etc., anything that makes you use several muscle groups at once
~ Malkavian Raven
See, thats where my dilema is. Im a small guy like i told you before and im trying to add about 20lbs. But at the current moment i have a bit of a gut. how would i reduce calorie intake but still manage to pack on size?
Also, is Ted really as good as people keep making it out to be?
All i can say is: if you love comedy you have to see it. i dont know what kind of comedy you like but if you ever tune into family guy or american dad then this wont disapoint you. I absolutely loved it.
So i caught on some older movies that ive been wanting to see finally
Contraband- wasnt as good as i thought it was going to be. Kind of like a gone sixty seconds with out the cool cars, ending was cool though.
Safehouse- i really enjoyed it, good action scenes, but nothing special
Girl with the dragon tattoo- very good suspense movie, great story line..really liked it
the hunter- Extremely slow and not really what i thought, kind of disapointed
lucky number slevin- yes i know its old but i havent seen it in forever, that movie is awesome
saw Ted last night and dear god...if you love offensive humor, its a must see.
I didn't like District 9. I was dozing off during it. However I did watch Birdemic yesterday with my friend. I've never laughed so hard at a horrible movie in my life. We were dying. The audio alone will have you dying of laughter.
I thought it was insanely awesome. Wasnt what i expected at all.
District 9 o.O
You no like?
Taken was probably worse movie I've ever seen lol. Blow is one of my favorites.I love that movie, I know almost every line in it. I also liked shawshank redemption and American history x. The main actor in American history X who played Danny was the best acting performance I've probably ever seen.
I dont like it because the amazing acting...just a good movie to watch a dad fight for his kid. Talking about great acting..Heath ledger in dark night was amazing.
yea its opinion and i think thats why jon called him out, because he didnt say it like it was opinion. Personally for me i cant decide, but a great under reated movie, already discussed i think, is man on fire with denzel
Man on Fire is easily in my top ten along side, in no order, im sure im forgetting some
shawshank redemption
cinderella man
taken
se7en
fight club
american history x
american beauty
distric 9
blow
rocky 1
Depends on the person. I'm not a big fan of Family Guy so I probably won't go see it. My friend likes Family Guy, but he just thinks the premise looks terrible.
In other news, I watched The Grey from Netflix this morning. Liam Neeson could play an ice cream man or some other soft profession and make it look hardcore. I know quite a few here don't like him, but he's pretty much the only person who can make me proud of my family's Irish ancestry. It's not his best movie, Taken, but I really liked it. And if you're an animal rights person, you might wanna stay away from it. I'd say it's worth a rental.
I thoought the grey was amazing. Pretty brutal crash scene and the overall idea of the movie was great, not going to throw any spoilers out but i love the ending. i think its a must watch. And yes, hes getting type casted quite a bit, his movie Unkown was actually very interesting i think, its worth a watch.
That's cool. I liked the first Halloween Rob Zombie did, but after this, I think he needs to stick to making original movies. And no more white trash broken families. And he also needs to break the habit of starring his wife in all of them as well. But yeah I love the guy's music. I remember rocking out to More Human Than Human as a kid and buying Hellbilly Deluxe the day it came out. I was not a fan of Halloween 2 though. And after my friend told me how it ended, I dislike it even more.
yea he was a really cool guy. he must of had an interesting childhood to say the least...
So I got Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 from Netflix. I couldn't even get through all of it. Nothing but Laurie, Michael's sister going all crazy and yelling over 1 million obscenities a scene. And this time, Michael Myers was grunting and yelling violently whenever he was killing someone or chopping through a wall. I just felt like Rob Zombie went a little too far with the gore. And that's bad coming from me, a person who loves zombie movies. Once I saw Laurie yelling the F word constantly in her car, I just turned it off. That may possibly be the worst horror movie I've ever watched.
I didnt think it was that bad. althoughi was not a fan of the grunting and what not when he was killing, that wasnt how michael myers was. Im still a fan of house of 1000corps though, that dude has some wierd ideas. Ive partied with him a couple years ago, very interesting guy

So i just watched some movies..here ya go
Total Recall- great action scenes and a good story line, but nothing too special imo
The Amazing Spiderman- I really liked it, althought i wouldnt say it was as good as the other ones. I really like when they go back to the begining of a story, ie batman begins, i thought it was interesting and some very cool fight scenes. This peter parker was completely different than the others, different dimeanor. If you like the others, id watch it
Rudy- never gets old watching a true story
Isnt stringer bell from the Wire?
