I'm gonna have to disagree w/ you on this one.

I'm pretty certain the Ravens FO changed their philosophy on drafting or signing FA's w/ character/off-field issues after the Rice incident.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a player w/ off-field issues that the Ravens have signed since cutting Rice.

  2. It all depends on who we go in the first.

If we take Mwill or Davis in the first and Tim Williams-Carl Lawson-Watt I would think about it, but most likely would stay put. \

There is just so much potential in this draft that I would hate to lose picks, but...just depends who is available and who we take in the first.  My preference would be Mwill/davis then Tim Williams or Lawson, but doubt either will be there for our second unless we trade up.  I know we are speaking in hypotheticals for the sake of discussion, there is just too many variables for me to be sure what id rather do.  Also, if Cook is there in the second, that would be hard to turn down, but I believe in no way in hell Cook makes it past 20

Tim williams, takksrish Mackinzy, Ryan Anderson, and Charles Harris. Please excuse my spelling lol

yeah I think your right. Williams is probably long gone by the time we draft. And take Foster off the list. News came out he failed a drug test at the combine.

I like everyone on that list other than Anderson, just not a fan, maybe some here can convince me

I see a lot of people on here aren't a fan of Takk.  Very intriguing options

Yup.  I think it could have be A LOT better.

    Hand of God is interesting.

Betas is a Silicon Valley type show, not a bad watch, pretty funny.

    Mad Dogs I recommend

Sneaky Pete, Aaron Paul, good watch.

Fortitude is another one that I recently watched, its pretty interesting.

    Amazon is killing it.

value is always subjective though - it's a term that is at its most useful up until the actual draft day as a way of working out where guys are likely to go

the provisos are this though: value is subjective in the evaluation phase - but if Charles Harris is thought to be the next Suggs then of course that's not a reach and it's good value

i think travis Frederick is the best example of what you're describing and I'm not sure there's a good answer for it

this whole offseason process of evaluating college prospects is inherently imperfect so until a better way of predicting and talking about prospects comes about then value is probably the best way of forming criticism despite how much it relies on "feel" and subjectivity

Yea, its also just a good way to fill the void of actual sports news.

Keep going. Season 1 starts a little confusing but really picks up as it goes along. Not sure how far you are but the Nora Durst storyline is what really puts the season in motion. Season 2 is a marvel in just about every way.

I think I just finished 3. Normally three is my number of episodes to see if ill continue.  Especially right now with Billions, House of Cards, Americans, Fargo, and Better Call Saul on.

    The Leftovers tonight.  So excited.

I gave it a couple episodes, am I missing something?  How much time do I need to sink in it?  Im interested in the reason why what happened occurred, but everything else to me is just bleh...

That's fair - I just meant at this point in the process people are going to have pretty clear impressions in their own head of their own values for players at each pick

Also, I tried to elaborate on this one time, but I cant find the right words.  The word 'value' I think is honestly overblown, don't get me wrong, I understand the premise.

Lets use Charles Harris for this example

If the FO thinks Harris can be the next Suggs for us and be a dominant force on this defense.  The draft 'experts' big board has him at 29 best player and we take him at 16.  Our FO is going to get killed because of how early he was drafted, but yet, we don't know what value we put on Harris.  So even though everyone thinks we over-drafted Harris, we took him to give us the same production as Suggs, therefore the 'value' to us would easily be worth it.  Does that make sense?  its been a long day

GO for the playoffs and Super Bowl, That means don't try to make every draft pick a starter. Even Dallas with all that they got from the rookies and the beast front line, they did not have the balance to pull it out.

Dallas was a very good team, yes their defense needs improvement but you hardly every see a defense on par with offense.  They had a very good offense so the defense logically wont be as good.  They just got outplayed by a QB who will go down as one of the best.  That throw...

  10. I would love this draft, I wont comment on value because it will obviously vary drastically.

I am more of a Mwill guy, but I do like Davis and would welcome either.  I will most likely punt a baby seal if we take Ross.

Bowser is a guy I have really started to like, I hope he is on our roster

Perine is a guy I talked a lot about last.  I would be stoked about this draft for sure.

  11. I will start by saying I was a server for about 7 years before I joined the Marines.  When I got out, I moved to Fort Myers, FL and became a server at a very popular restaurant on a spring break beach (so many stories from those 2 years, but it would be impossible to tell them in a PG form), I loved being a server, so I know the life style and I know what its like to be swamped with a lot of tables.  That being said, I expect good service.  I can tell when people are busy, people who have never worked in the industry may not understand what its like.  Good service Ill normally leave 20%, if its great service all around, ill hook them up.  I have high standards for servers.

When I was stationed in Pensacola, Fl for some trainging in the Marines, my wife at the time and our friends were in visiting and we all went out to the beach and was going to eat later.  While we were on the beach we saw an advertisement for all you can eat crab legs (hard to find whole crab most places) so obviously we were down for this.

Its a decent drive from where we were at on the beach so I give the restaurant a call just to confirm prices, wait time, ask about the crab leg deal, etc....Everything was good to go.

Get to the restaurant, have signs for their all you can eat crab legs as soon as you walk in, we get seated and the group of us order drinks and some appetizers; shrimp, oysters, etc

Waitress comes back to take our order (im sure you can see whats about to happen) and we all say the crab legs.  Shockingly, no crab legs.  At this point im pretty frustrated and ask to talk to the manager, explain the situation and basically was told too bad. Not even 10% off on appetizers, which isn't a lot but at least that would of been an effort to try to fix the situation.  But no.

We ended up driving back to the exact same spot we were at and just picked another place.  Easily the worst experience on dining out.

obviously context helps but i think the value of these guys is such that even without context we can judge it ok

True, I just believe it leaves a lot of important details out.  Also, the thing about 'value' is that everyone values certain players differently.

i want mike williams or the best pass rusher available. whoever is better at 16...gotta trust the front office obviously. just hope for entertainment sake i dont watch 4 hours of the draft to see us trade back into day 2 lol.

Yea, I took off work one time to watch it and get drunk....and we traded out.  To make it worse, it was for Upshaw.

Average = Average; until the owner makes changes at the top, it will be the same ole same ole.

So whats your plan? Fire John, OZ, Decosta?  DC and OC? who would you hire?  No one wants to be average, but it sounds like your making excuses continuously to stay average when we have clearly already made good moves (on paper) and the draft is still to come.  You need to step up your whining, not even trying anymore

We've made awesome moves this offseason and we're headed in the right direction. But it'd be nice if our 2nd and 3rd round picks contribute this year. At all. It'd also be nice if Harbaugh doesn't sabotage the season again

It blows my mind how some fans on here think this offseason hasn't been anything but awesome for us.  I would of rather kept Wagner but im glad we kept one of the two main FAs.  Its a catch 22 on here with fans: " we never sign any big FAs! always dumpster diving for bargains for comp picks!" Then we go sign the best safety available (two years in a row) and now we overpaid and made a bad signing, its hilarious

I agree that pass rush is a greater need than CB and WR for that matter. I'd even bet good money that we draft a pass rusher in the second round if for whatever reason we don't take one in the first.

I like Barrett's strength and his elite run stopping abilities. I don't love his burst or little use of finess moves. I honestly don't see much of a dropoff from him the the next 4 best pass rushers. When you compare that to WR and ILB There's a huge dropoff from Williams, Davis, Foster to the next best.

i agree that this CB class is loaded all the way till the 3rd and it's no longer an urgent need at all. Il definitely take Humphrey back

Don't get me wrong, Mike Williams is who I want.  I also don't think he will be available

What next 4 pass rushers in your opinion after Barnett?

Correct logic, but not probable outcome.  The owner needs to make changes at the top or simply sit back and watch mediocrity, at best.

I know right.  The sky is falling.   If only we were making changes on the roster and signing playmakers.  They should also come up with this thing where we can pick younger players before they make the NFL.  You are making such good points.  I think you have swayed me

Understand that in this scenario, guys like Reddick, Davis, etc. are all off board at 16.

I get your point but this draft dramatically changes our offensive line thus changing the game significantly.

Really need context to judge drafts with any type of informed opinion.  Who all were the first 15 picks?  Then who was available after the trade-back when we took Bolles? Id be happy with us building the OL, but im just not a fan of Anderson.  Its hard not to be happy building the OL, but even then there isnt much to get excited here for me.

One thing i will say, like i stated above, i dont get people who do mock drafts but yet dont at least list the players off the board.  Not saying to do a full player to team description, but without knowing who is available its hard to say if the trade back was worth it.

Just my opinion here but I think Corey Davis is of the same mold as Williams but Ross is a step behind them as a prospect as I highly doubt any team in the top 10 is even considering him.

Foster and Humphrey are also top 10 talents so it wouldn't be hard for Ozzie to pull the trigger as they'd probably to top 10 any other year. Barnett on the other hand is a solid first rounder but I doubt he'd ever go in the top 10.

im not trying to take away from any of the players mentioned but just saying i hope we land a 1A player rather than a 1B player.

If I had to guess the order of the mentioned players in the Ravens board in order it would probably look something like:-

    1- Williams

    2- Davis

    3- Humphrey

    4- Foster

    5- Barnett

6- Howard (even though I'd hate that pick I couldn't argue against him being BPA)

    7- Ross

I honestly think that Barnett would be listed as the first defensive guy, of said players.  Even though Jsmith has an injury history, but he is still under 30.  We also brought in Carr, Young looks promising as well.  Pass rush to me would be higher on our list considering we let Doom go (still could bring him back) and Suggs is pretty close to done, maybe 2 more years-ish.  Also, with the amount of good DBs in this draft, i think we go pass rusher first and grab a DB later.

Try going with Pete Carroll smokescreen. Didn't even take him in round2. A good 3 cone but his numbers outside of that were pedestrian. And 3cone is far from tell all. You have some non mobile QBs posting great 3 cones. In 4-3 alignments strength wasn't his game. Now you are talking about playing him in a 3-4 where more is required. Length isn't jack if he isn't stout enough. Harbaugh said he looks good. Good as in bulked up for interior line?Lost some weight for edge rushing? Not saying lot

We can agree to disagree, i just dont see how you watch the guy play and dont think he is a freakish athlete.   I am just extremely excited to see him actually play, not too many guys i am excited for on this roster.

i think we are a great drafting team, and i am an Ozzie supporter. we just haven't been as successful as we used to. no way you can deny that. we have been great lately at our middle/late picks.

yea its too early to close the book on them, i agree. but if your second round pick literally isnt good enough to see the field, even as a backup, that's not good. what did he have this year, 3 tackles? the scarier part is we viewed him as a pass rusher. how did we mis-evaluate him so dramatically?

totally agree on the freak accidents. have had our share of terrible luck...pitta breaking his hips, Zach Orr having to retire, kindle falling down the stairs. sucks.

the drafting of old receivers has worked great. wasn't knocking it, just pointing out that we have never had the luxury of a young one developing with joe. have we ever had a #1 receiver in their prime? literally ever?

Secondary dumpster diving....shareece wright, kyle arrington, kendrick lewis to name a few. carr sounds good on paper because of his consistency but i dont think he is going to be a game changer.

In Joe's first contract, i would say you are right. This year, Joe's cap hit is literally the largest in the entire NFL...soo.....

Its pretty hard to be as successful as this team was at drafting considering we drafted JO and Ray Lewis in the same round, two of the best of all time at their positions, then Reed who is also one of the best of all time at his positions, Suggs, Ngata, Rice, etc.  Its a hard track record to keep comparing to.  That being said, I agree, its obvious we have missed on game changing players.

Trust me, you most likely wont find someone who hates on the KC pick more than I do, but im still willing to give him time to develop.  Hopefully this year he gets more snaps, especially considering Orr has retired.  there were plenty of players I would of taken than KC, but hey....lets wait and see.

Agree, Torrey is the best WR we have ever drafted, we got good production out of him, but he never really progressed, hence why we let him walk and get his money.  Hence, this is why Mike Williams is the number one guy I want this year.

Carr wasn't really brought in to be a game changer, just a good starter that will do his job.  Imagine if we didn't sign those players though, who would we have had?  its a catch 22.

Im not able to do the math and look things up right now, but I would be interested to see the percentage of our salary cap that Joe's contract takes up between the two with the inflation of the cap going up.
