Other teams work out deals with their players BEFORE FA so they don't lose them, unless they don't want them back anyway. We could've given Wagner a extension last year. It seems like, for every DJ or Weddle that we sign that works out, there's a dozen Zuttah and Lewis, etc.. that don't.
It sucks, but honestly it doesn't bother me. The Redskins win the FA period every year and do nothing.

So we either need to draft an RT or sign one off the market and they are all below average. So either way it's a massive step backwards.
Also, just because we MAY get a 3rd does not mean it would amount to anything at all. The pick wouldn't be until next years draft and 3rd round picks usually don't come in right away and see the field. So we won't even know what we got for 2-3 years.
There cant even be much gains to have because we have put ourselves into such a crappy spot with our salary cap.
We have Alex Lewis. There are other older tackles on the market. We have found plenty stud linemen late in the draft.

It is foolish to think that we could have gotten Wagner to sign for $7 million when the cap is expected to go up even more 10's of millions of dollars in the next couple years to come. Every position is going to start making a good percentage more than previously.
We can sit here and say Wagner isn't worth that. But really, he is. He's one of the best RT's in the league and once again we let him go in his prime. Now our OL is a major weak link.
But what can you do? The Ravens did this to themselves with all of these horrible contracts that have been given out the past couple years. And it has shown on the field.
I'll await to hear Williams has signed with someone else also because we didn't have the cap space.
I dont know, rated 9th best RT last year, 5th round pick, now maybe a 3rd comp. I think we can find a more than serviceable replacement and reap the gains.
On Rick Wagner "The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta noted, Wagner will be paid at an annual rate that exceeds the combined salaries of the entire 2016 Seahawks offensive line."
Can we get a memorial thread going? With the most liked posts and most negged posts? Longest thread titles and synopsis of discussion?
Something to reflect on.
Im assuming all of the media coverage will be the same? I.e mailbag, LFW, etc...
Its been a good ride, thanks everyone!
Julius Peppers was a beast, but something is telling me he wont be available.
I like Kupp a lot, but very weary of Watt.

Maybe 1 Ben Watson type of signing on a low cost vet. Seriously don't get your hopes up for much this year, I don't see us adding anyone significant from the UFA pool like we did last year.
Yeah, last year was a bit of an anomaly.
I guess Matt Elam is technically a FA since we didnt pick up his option, but he was arrested this morning in Florida for 126 grams of marijuana and some oxycodone.

If you take pro football focus rankings at any value then Zuttah has been the better center the past two years. If The Ravens sign Mangold then they have to hope that he's better than his 25th center or 18th ranking which isn't better than Zuttah. It helps that he knows Marty M offensive scheme and during that time he was ranked the 1st best center in the league in 2014 but that was two years ago.
The front office has expressed getting bigger and stronger guys for a better power running game. Zuttah is better for zone with more technique and finesse and is not ideal for power running.

Im with ya, Matt Birk 2.0.
I dont know how much a 33 year old, injured Center goes for, but I hope we look into it.

I was thinking that too. I think it would depend on how each performed at the combine. If its close, Jones. If Humphrey blows it out of the water like he is projecting, we may fall for him. A la Perriman.
I hope this goes virtual.
Wright is a bit of a wildcard. His best year was when he had Fitzpatrick throwing to him. He's never really had that well of a QB. Hasselbeck, Fitz, Mettenberger, Whitehurst, Locker. Maybe Mariota this year.

Jimmy only played a game and a half compared to Brissett's two and a half games, but yet Jimmy got more yards and four touchdowms compared to Brissett's zero touchdowns. The offenses were ran very differently as well. When Jimmy was in the Patriots didn't hold back at all, but they were a run heavy, game managing team while Brissett was playing. Also, Brissett was the QB when they got shut out by the Bills.
If I were the Browns, Id trade back from 12 to get a couple firsts. Then trade one to get Jimmy. Also, Brissett was hurt that game.
Thats basically a FG from the kickoff marker. I remember seeing him do that in a game. Its almost normal for him.
Thought this would go here nicely. Flacco was rated the 8th best Super Bowl MVP overall. For comparison Brady at his highest was 16 and Ray was snubbed at 44th.
I am always excited for the draft and FA because of the front office we have. Somehow we always seem to get low cost vets who give solid production and late round guys that contribute.

Id say so too, but for the sake of the Ravens moving forward, I am glad he has began to consider it.
I don't think he will either, but this is what he told CBS.
“I’m going to take this offseason to evaluate, to consider all options,” Ben told us. “To consider health, and family and things like that and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season, if there’s going to be a next season.”
When asked if he’s going to play next year, Ben simply said, “I’m going to take some time and evaluate with my family and just do a lot of praying about it and make sure it’s the right thing for me and my family.”
We're gonna be big league, it'll be yuge!
I think the fact that Baltimore is clamoring for that star running back now is evidence enough that Dallas was correct in their suspicions that we wanted Elliot in the draft.

We will see. I mean what is the alternative? We sign Rick and have no cap left... Bye BWill, bye Webb, bye Wallace. I think it would hurt us more to match that contract.
