Oz can't predict the future. There was no way we knew that Pitta would be injured or JJ. We also picked up Clark, who we all thought at the time was great. They also said they wanted to give the younger guys a chance. Marlon Brown was once greatly thought of before an injury.
Read between the lines.

To be fair, he hasn't done a good job in the draft since 2008.
Lets not forget about all of the undrafted rookie free agents he has picked over the years now.
why is this entire board SO PRESSED on signing a old WR, or a average at best WR in FA, because that will somehow make it a smart move for us to ignore WR in the draft? this is the best WR draft there has been in years, there is a ton of talent in the first 2 rounds, why ignore that to draft an incredibly weak position like safety, when safety is clearly the smarter position to address in free agency? i dont see the logic, at all, steve smith in no way, shape or form, would make us "set" at WR, he is a 1-2 year stop gap and we need a reliable, well rounded WR of the future instead of all these short term plugs and roleplaying "weapons" we have. im all for signing smith, but i dont want to sign the guy because that makes ozzie say "ok now lets ignore the best position in this entire draft to fill our other holes" . if we get a stop gap free agent, obviuously safety and center would be the positions, not WR.
This is such a deep and good draft for WR we can afford to wait until the 2nd round to draft one. I personally hope we get Smith so we can trade back and get more picks.
how could we draft ebron and dix?..just curious..you think dix will last till the 2nd round or do we trade our 2nd round pick and say a 6th for an earlier pick in that round?
I said "or" not "and" ![]()
If we sign Smith, I see us drafting a TE (Ebron), a FS (Clinton-Dix), or LB ( Mosely, if we dont re-sign D. Smith.) In the first round.
The other likely outcome is we trade back and grab more draft picks.
But I fear we won't draft one in the early rounds. I can see so many of these players come in and make an impact from day 1. If we get Steve Smith he'll only be in the way.
If we do end up getting him, I at least hope we get him for cheap.
If we draft one, it will only get in the way for Marlon Brown.
It would make all too much sense for Steve to come here...which is why I dont think he will..
I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to go to a team that can get him bigger numbers. Flacco and the Ravens are not a "Numbers" team. Never have been. Steve might be wanting to show Carolina they were wrong. Going to Denver, Dallas or SD would all suit that cause better.
I would hope its not a money issue bc hes gonna make 3mill from Carolina alone. So any of those teams could scramble up 2-4mill for this season.
I really want Steve. But over the last 24hrs ive talked myself up on Julian Edelman. So if we got one id be happy.
I grew up in NC and one of my friends up there mentioned that he is really interested in going to Atlanta if he can. I think showing up the Panthers is high on his list. I also think he would want to go to a contender instead of just somewhere to get paid.
The Dolphins have already said they are going to jump all over Monroe if given the chance. We need to not let that happen.
Im from Eden, NC. Its about 45 minutes north of Greensboro on the VA line, but I am moving to Tampa, Fl in a little less than 3 weeks.

I dont know if it has been said, but Strief signed back with the Saints. One more RT off the market.
