Wrong.  SSS was having plenty of success last season and Flacco wasn't.

Lol I guess SSS was throwing and catching the ball himself then. Without turning this into a Flacco debate, I would like to say he was on pace to have his best season statistcally.

To my original point and I think most posters understood what I meant even if I worded it badly, if Flacco throws for 4000 yards but SSS has say 1000 of those yards. Who would you give the nod to?

  2. I believe I saw this topic in the mailbag today and listened to Mink and Garret discuss this. Kudos to the person that asked the question.

But I didn't see a topic on the news forum and thought it be an interesting one.

So, who is your Ravens comeback player of the year? I want to say Suggs or Flacco, but I think Steve Smith Sr. is going to have a stellar last year working the slot.

Many factors involved here but one for sure is "Greed" and self proclaimed "Respect".  I want to be respected and loved as I'm therefore .....pay me! I want to be the highest paid player on this team and if that means letting go of others then so be it.   After all most people  believe that because they’re rich, in a leadership position, or famous, they deserve our respect — regardless of their mediocrity.    Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. Respect must be earned!!!

Call me crazy, I wouldn't be surprised if our secondary has a breakout year. I think weddle is going to be a great leader and mentor. His presence should help reduce some of the communication errors and stupid mistakes that we've been seeing over the past couple years. After Reed left we have had a pretty uninspiring secondary. What a shame Hill got lazy, and got himself cut. Weddle alongside a determined Hill would be rediculous.

    You're crazy!

  5. I wasn't really impressed by Moore's Rookie training camp highlight on the main site. These shots are more than likely out of chronological order, however, when the coach said keep your hands up on the snap, the next couple of shots his hands were down.

On a comeback route he turned way too early and it seemed like forever until the ball got to him.

And he had trouble getting off the line on one of the smaller corners.

It's EARLY, I know, but not the best showcase of a player in the least.

Never said that he should be a 2nd round pick and I never gave that as a reason either. I was just listing all the reasons that Ramsey isn't this once in a lifetime player that people are hyping him up to be, and you began arguing semantics about what "swagger" means to you. There is no need to PM you because this has turned into a dumb pissing contest anyway.

But my point was that with this swagger that Ramsey brings, can also bring a lot of personal fouls and attitude if he doesn't learn to tone it down because he gets out of control at times. I didn't know that needed a detailed explanation  but there it is.

And I replied that it was a stretch that his swagger would get him penalties. Aggressive nature, yes but not a simple celebration that everyone does after a play. Using that as a reason to why he should be a 2nd round pick is irrelevant because it wasn't a problem in college. I wasn't aware that needed to be detailed either, who would've known, but there ya go!

If you would like to continue this discussion further Joey, please feel free to PM me. :)

So unnecessarily headbutting players after the snap is swagger to you?

No, nice assumption. I see it as exuding an uncanny amount of confidence, mostly in eccentric ways. I would say headbutting players and yip yapping to other players is aggressive.

It looked you made the inference that headbutting players was swagger by saying, " And all that swagger you refer to could easily translate to lots of 15 yard pentalties.

I think you are the one stretching. I liked Ramsey and wouldn't have minded having him here, but he isn't this generational slam dunk prospect everyone makes him out to be. He has simply done next to nothing in deep coverage, when he was a safety almost all his plays Came from blitzing or within 10 yards of the line, when he was a corner he showed elite press skills and was pretty lackluster everywhere else in coverage because he isn't a guy who can play between the qb and wr, he needs the play in front of him to be effective and struggles to play the ball if he has to turn his head.

And to say that headbutting players after the whistle and following players back to the huddle running his mouth won't draw penalties is just wrong, the stuff he got away with in college will draw flags in the NFL.

I think you're the one stretching here. The film shows it all. The kids got a steep learning curve ahead of him. This isn't to say he's a bad prospect by any means, but folks are bitter that we didn't sell the farm to get him and it really doesn't make sense considering we got the safest pick in the whole top 10 and he fills a massive hole for us.

I'll simply agree to disagree because this thread is not about him. Our opinion of what "swagger" is, is definitely not the same.

Many teams reportedly had a 2nd round grade on Ramsey actually.

And all that swagger you refer to could easily translate to lots of 15 yard pentalties.

Add all this to the fact that flacco has never had a long term and quality LT and is now coming off an acl, it becomes clear that we got the best player we could have asked for. Hell with swagger and on defense, keep our qb upright and let the rest fall in place.

The first part is quite the exaggeration. I've ready maybe a couple of "playoff" teams have placed a 2nd round grade on him. Perhaps to try and make him fall in the draft? Ramsey has long been the concensus #1 corner, anyone or any team saying otherwise is just being foolish.

The swagger to penalty assumption is silly in my opinion and another stretch to try and argue something in your view's favor, even though it's irrelevant.

With all that being said, I do agree with the LT and protecting Flacco as being more important.

Hopefully some of the younger players are ready to contribute so we can trade some the older vets such as Dumervil, Monroe and Forsett. We could pick up some draft picks for next year and free up some cap room.

As I recall, the Ravens have been having a string of road game loses and have been equally unimposing at home. So many recovering ACL and other serious injuries also does not bode well for a highly successful season. I expect an improvement over last season but Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are still the teams to beat. The nine games after the bye feel like 3 & 6 at the moment. Vegas lists them as basically an 8-8 team; anything more seems like a purple kool aid pick.

I agree Cincinnati is the team to beat, but if the Steelers are as well... wouldn't we be the team to beat too? We did sweep them and beat them in the playoffs. If you gotta beat the man to be the man, by your logic we should be the man. (At least replacing the Steelers. The Bengals are another story.)
