Perriman had surgery and is out indefinitely. What now at wide receiver?
Same as before I suppose: SSS and a bunch of other guys.
why does he need surgery on a sprain then?
Sprains are partial tears.
For more info, you can check out this article (which references Big Ben) by Dr. David Chao.

I came across this column by Dr. David Chao, an orthopedic surgeon who worked for the San Diego Chargers for 17 years. He wrote about Ben's injury and specifically explained why bone bruises can take so long to recover from.
The injury would be simple and reliable if just a grade 2 MCL. Rehab and a brace would have Roethlisberger back in a couple weeks. The bone bruise is the worry here. We all know big Ben’s reputation for toughness and quick healing. That applies as he returns from MCL sprain, but a bone bruise can’t be rushed. Don’t expect him back before four weeks and it could be six weeks or more.

A lot of the information there might also explain why Perriman is taking so long to come back.
Edit: Calf injuries are also briefly mentioned. Gillmore might be out for a while...
Ben Roethlisberger was diagnosed with the same thing wasn't he? McLain sprain and bone bruise. Apparently 4-6 weeks
I think Perriman has a PCL sprain rather than MCL... or so we're told. ![]()
Lol! Wishful thinking. It would be a miracle if we won that game, seriously.
I'm not exactly disagreeing, but the Cardinals opponents so far haven't exactly been the who's who of the NFL. The Saints, Bears, and Niners have one win among them (maybe two, if the Saints won one that I missed).
We also know how durable their quarterback tends to be...
Anyway, I really hope Vick doesn't embarrass Baltimore with his feet as well as his arm. That td run from Dalton was really concerning.
I understand that Vick did not play well in St. Louis. Hopefully, his effective days are behind him.
"Home Alone" back in theaters in November?!? Yes, please.
As expensive as movie tickets are these days, there is no way that I'm going to see that in the theater.
Doubt it, Ravens are awful at rushing the passer, steelers have a good O-line plus Bell is a great blocker.
Vick is fairly likely to try to run so maybe if a Raven remembers how to tackle we might see Landry Jones.
That is a terrible reason to keep a coach. If he's been consistantly bad, what good is continuity? To always be bad? There no advantage there. The price of being a good team is other teams try to poach your coaches and players.
Amen to that. Who would trade the Lombardi for Caldwell?
Can you replace your panic button with this?
Sure... if they start winning.
No, he was speaking positively about Steve Smith... sorry, should have been more specific
Oh okay.
Can you replace your panic button with this?
Sure... if they start winning.
Harbaugh said it perfectly when asked about Smith's great playing today. He said" Smith has been like this his entire career, and hopefully, we can find a way to cover AJ Green before he retires too.
I read about the second part of that sentence, but I didn't realize that Harbs had specifically called Smith out like that.
I knew that when Harbs blew up during halftime of a pre-season game (about the defense) something was up....
I can barely contain my excitement while watching these high powered offenses.
It would be so sweet to beat them for our first win....but then again..it would have been just as sweet against the Bengals.
The Bengals would have been better imho. If they were good enough to beat that team, you might actually have hope that Oakland was just a fluke and that they would be okay . But now their season is basically over win, lose or draw.
Just out of boredom..checked if we are the only 0-3 team in AFC. Yup....Congratulation on us!
Playoffs baby!
I was trying to figure out whether or not they were the only 0-3 team in the league.
Even teams like Jax and DC have a win.
At least between the wounded Steelers and the Browns there is a chance that the Ravens get one in before long.
I wonder what things might have been like if Pitta and Perriman were on the field; if SSS didn't have to do it everything all by himself.
Dont look now but the Steelers are licking their chops and rubbing a knife and fork together......

I don't know about that. Twelve points would suggest they never got in the endzone and they are probably crossing their fingers, holding their breath, and whatever else as they await a definitive diagnosis for their quarterback. Their season might have just ended in the third week too.
No way they beat Steelers on a short week. This team is done mentally. They knew they had to win this game. That lockerroom and coaching staff is not strong enough to recover. Only 3 teams in NFL history have made playoffs after first 3 losses. Time to move on to next year folks.
I was waffling on this one because Ben is out, but you make some compelling arguments.
Plus the Ravens managed to lose to Charlie Batch and they had a much better team back then.
If Ben is seriously injured, the AFCN just went from last year's three horse race to one of the worst divisions in the NFL.
If you didn't hear Perriman aggravated is knee in pregame warmups so chances of playing vs Pitt just went down.
I never thought he stood a chance of playing that game, but now I know not to get too hopeful before the bye week.
I'll be. Shocked if Bell doesn't get 100 yards receving and 100 rushing.. and lawd Antonio Brown
There's a chance that it might not be any worse than this game. The Ravens always roll over for the Bengals, but they show up for Pittsburgh.
I think it will be worse than normal, but the defense might not have a significantly worse showing. After all, is Brown much better than Green? I don't think so, but even if he is he will have an inferior qb throwing to him. Bell is going to be ugly though. I fully expect more running due to Ben's injury so that 28 game (or whatever) record is going down.
i remember this one specifically, because it is quite literally the WORST penalty i have ever seen in football. that referee should be embarrassed and ashamed for continuing the softening of football by calling a 15 yard penalty on a routine contact block on a run play
Was that the so-called "blindside hit to the helmet?"
because we see what joe flacco is forced to play with. wide receivers have one job, catch the ball, meanwhile the quarterback cannot do his job if the OL doesnt give him time, if the receivers cant get open, if the playcalling is atrocious and predictable, if the weapons consist of one player, etc. etc.
when joe flacco plays a game like this, we should win. if joe flacco plays a game like this with some speed at receiver or a rushing attack that wasnt completely nonexistent, we WILL win. joe flacco is working with NOTHING and is still putting us in a position to win, and getting let down over and over.
you see more mistakes from qb's than anyone else, because they are the only player to touch the ball every single play, a few mistakes are ok with a workload like what he has to deeal with, but when a whole WR corps fails to make themselves available for an entire game, and the offensive line commits one penalty after another, it should become CLEAR who is the real problem.. newsflash, it isnt flacco.
Hear hear. I might add that if you take Flacco's game today (imperfections, lack of help and all) but pair it with a defense that is just above average and this game would probably have been a win.
36 rushing yards total
But blame flacco
I can't get over this.
Didn't Andy Dalton have nearly that many yards on his 2 rushes? I know the net would be lower because he was sacked, but still.
36 rushing yards total
But blame flacco
That is unreal. I knew it was bad, but that is truly shocking.
Literally all of our offseason worst fears are being realized: Forsett isn't repeating, no one is replacing Torrey Smith, even though Webb and Smith are starting the secondary is still terrible, and Trestman is exactly who the Bears fans told us he was.
There might be some more that I'm missing...
and can we just point out the personal foul called on jeremy zuttah earlier in the game, when he made a routine football block? he is blocking upfield on a designed screen play, and blocks a would-be tackler with helmet contact, and its a personal foul for unnecessary roughness... im sorry, is this not football?
There were so many penalties that I can scarcely remember the details of any individual one.
Pees was right. Defense isn't defined by 1 game. It is defined by 3 losses.
They deserve all of the blame for the divisional round loss too. I mean you could excuse them because of the injuries, but I think this season might be proof that it was more than that.
Flacco had the first down and KO screwed up
Ahh very true.
That's two games in a row that a lineman just had to screw up the perfect play.
And it might have been three, but I didn't see the first game. In fact, I didn't actually see much of the second game either.
Since they play so many West and primetime games, I'm going to be spared a lot of their losses it seems.
The offense again put up decent numbers for what we got... defense again.... Let's us down... Something has to happen this week.
Pees goes??? Secondary coach goes???
Yes to both. I'd be calling for Smith's starting position too, but it's not like there is anyone better or even remotely close.
He did. And Osemele cost them. Not Flacco.
Flacco definitely contributed when he threw the ball too low after SS's drop. That would have been a first down and that mess at the end might not have happened... or more likely it would have happened later.
