Rey was an established badass before the movies, being capable of holding her own in combat with her staff and being a tech wiz(and a few Mary Sue qualities here and there), but she's also fearless and intelligent. She's like a British halfway house between Han and Luke if you asked me. Tech saviness and smart Alec at times similar to Han while retaining the heroic qualities that Luke possessed in Episode 6.
Personally, I see her as inheriting Luke and Anakin's traits moreso. Little Anakin was a technological prodigy and a supernaturally gifted pilot (which for some reason doesn't seem to earn him accusations of being a Marty Stu), and of course all three were, in varying degrees, poor desert, orphans, but everyone knows that.
When I think of Han in the original trilogy I tend to think of sarcasm (to the point of being arguably rude), agression (he DID shoot first after all), illegal activies, and his affection for blasters. He was a pilot too though so the argument could be made.

He just complained that life wasn't fair.

I do agree that Rey is a superior character and I would even go a step further to say Kylo Ren is superior to Darth Vader as a character. However IMO both of those characters are simply more evolved versions of Luke and Anakin/Vader. Neither would be what they are if they didn't have the templates to go off of.
Well in Ren's case he literally wouldn't not exist without Anakin.

I would say Vader is inferior to Ren as a character, but Vader is vastly more likeable. At least original trilogy/Rouge One Vader. Ren appears to be far more powerful than Vader was at his development, but Raw and untrained. Vader wasn't really super developed in the original trilogy, and honestly the prequels ruined him for a lot of people. Arguably the most badass fictional villain ever was a whiny pathetic crybaby?
Well I guess that's why the imperial officer wasn't afraid to tease Vader about his hokey religion. Speaking of which, you could go even further and say that Vader was just a cool looking costume and lightsaber for much of the first trilogy. Until the end of V, he was barely more developed than Darth Maul.
5 hours ago, LosT_in_TranSlatioN said:Oh, and she's a Kenobi.
Massive plothole in Rouge One: Vader has easily his most badass scene of all time, yet in Star Wars(I'm not calling it a new hope) his lightsaber fight is pathetic.
Why do you think Rey is a Kenobi?
You didn't enjoy that scene when the old men gently prodded one another? I guess they need to remake the originals then. ![]()
Why did I ever get my hopes up?
I should start watching more regular season games so I can watch my team dominate.
The Capitals and Leafs are tied at 3 going into the third.
Braden Holtby made a spectacular save near the blue line to combat a Leaf's breakaway.
Washington squandered a 2 minute 5-3 penalty..
Karl Alzner misses his first game since 2010

I don't want to have to deal with that stress on Christmas Day again. Give me another team's grudge match and let me enjoy my presents in peace.

That's not a bad idea. He seemed to be in the process of turning since the original trilogy. And that is one way to eliminate a jedi.
It would be a bit cliche to have him make the same choice his father did, but if VII taught us anything it's that Disney is not afraid to copy a winning formula.
9 hours ago, Cville-Raven said:I think he might make it to 9 but does eventually get it. It's a shame Carrie Fisher passed, Leia was the only one I thought would make it out of this trilogy.
The character could still make it out of this trilogy alive a la
Brian O'Connor from the Fast and Furious franchise.

I really thought things would be different this time. I actually believed it was their year.
Two OT games for the Caps/Leafs. I was not expecting things to be this hard against Toronto.
9 hours ago, Cville-Raven said:Luke's gonna die isn't he?
I suspect he will.
They seem to be setting this up to be a somber/dark episode. We know from foreign titles that "The last Jedi" refers to at least two individuals. It would be kind of odd to give the film a title like that and a purposefully dark tone and then let both Jedi live. If we assume that the titular Jedi are Rey and Luke then Luke would have to be the one to die.
Let's discuss the NHL playoffs.
Tonight the Nashville Predators take on the Chicago Blackhawks and the Calgary Flames face the Anaheim Ducks.
But the active game pits the Washington Capitals against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Earlier today the Nationals, Wizards, Redskins, Mystics, and Orioles wished the Capitals good luck in the playoffs.
Currently the score is 2-0 with 7 minutes to go in the 1st period.
Let's go Caps.
That's just what the team needs.
It's also not a great start to Dixon's career with two starts of the season missed.

I think about how we're able to use telescopes to see into the past and I wish we could look at the future.

Just like last half season, I get this is a comic book, but bring it to reality for TV. It's losing them so much credibility, of what they actually have left.
Life is too short to spend another minute watching mediocre tv.
Did that work?
I like Facing the Giants.

Falcons Defensive Coordinator Richard Smith will not return as Defensive Coordinator because... he's to blame for the poor clock management? Also their defensive line coach also won't be returning. A full list of Falcons coaching changes......
- New Offensive Coordinator(Shanahan left to become Head Coach of the 49ers)
- New Defensive Coordinator(Fired)
- New Defensive Line Coordinator(Will be dismissed)
- New QB Coach(Matt LaFleur is now OC for the Rams)
I imagine the Falcons are in for a rough ride next season. That generally happens to Super Bowl losers, and their franchise isn't exactly a model of consistency. Plus their division tends to change leaders a lot I believe. Add all the coaching changes on top and it's going to be an uphill battle... but then I guess every season is tough.

Which government? China might try to keep something like that from their people...
Seriously though, I don't know if the US gov would inform us about it as much as they would confirm it.
If the asteroid was that big I'd imagine lots of amateur astronomers would notice even if the govvies tried to keep it hush hush.

I think I'm going to have to steal that nickname, but I don't know if I can blame it on him. He didn't give up 34 points.
Of course, the Falcons had a pick 6 so Ryan also can't get credit for anything beyond 21 points...

I know, right? For a very few minutes, I thought I felt as tense about this game as I do about Ravens games, but then they lost and I realized that it was nothing like how I feel when my team collapses.

0 This was the first overtime in SB history.
If Brady decides to retire at the very top (I mean really, it doesn't get much more impressive than this) will this have all been worth it to us?

It was what second down? They were getting in the endzone regardless. When was the last time that Atlanta allowed anything less than a td? Like the third quarter?

I hope Ryan gets it, but it's really rare for losers to win. (Pun intended)

The Caps kept hope alive by beating the Maple Leafs 5-4. The series is now tied at 2 and returns to Washington Friday night.
Tonight the Canadiens and Rangers will break their own 2-2 tie.
The Blue Jackets will try to continue to prolong the inevitable against Pittsburgh (who leads 3-1 in the series).
Nashville will go for the sweep against Chicago.
And the Sharks and Oilers will also break a 2-2 tie.
