  1. No offense but you need to take a look at how the cap works along with NFL contracts. Joe has already received most of his "guaranteed" money. He'll be restructured, or he'll be cut. Period. No QB has gone into a season with a 28m cap hit, and no other team will pay him more than 20 a year. Its just how contracts and the nfl works. Linta is just being a clown. Nothing to see here.

28.55 million cap if he plays on the team 25.85 million cap if he doesn't.  You are the one who needs to how the caps works in NFL contracts.  If he is cut he will sign with another team for big money and the Ravens would be stuck drafting a QB with their first round pick and will save a comical 2.7 million  space in cap space   There is absolutely zero chance he is cut this year.

Also if a team pays him 20 million next year it would be more than he makes with the Ravens.

  2. Marvin Lewis is one of the worst head coaches in the league. His GM consistently drafts well enough to get them to get to the playoffs but as soon as it's time to focus they fall apart. The way that team behaved against the steelers showed how little control he really has over that team. His team acts like brats and thugs EVERY week but he NEVER disciplines anyone. Remember when Pacman smashed Amari Coopers head into his own helmet? If Harbaughs the coach Pacman gets cut the next morning; same goes for Burfict. So many dirty players over there. I've never seen a weaker Head coach in my life. First HC to go 0-7 in the playoffs; He NEEDS to be fired.

The Bengals were 12-2 before Andy Dalton got injured.  Now way he gets fired.  You guys want everyone fired but Harbaugh.

  3. first of all, just b/c you post it doesn't mean that it's going to happen.  Secondly, renegotiate is a broad term!  Under these circumstances, all parties involved will STILL have to renegotiate if they decided to extend his contract.

Well if you have no clue about his contract or how the process plays out why comment on it?  Saying to cut a player that would provide no benefit to the team? Makes no sense.  Flacco would get more money if he were cut.  He has gotten signing bonus already. So he would sign a big contract with another team while the Ravens are still on the hook for 95 percent of his cap hit and are playing a much inferior player in his place.

The team choose this route by having low cap hits of 6,8 million , 14.5 million and 14.8 million in the first 3 years.  That was their choice.  Now they are on the hook for the payments that have come due.

  4. If flacco and his agent dont want to re-do his contract, I would cut flacco and roll with Mallet and spend the money on KO and other free agents. Flacco should look at Brady, he makes his team look better.

If they cut Flacco they would save 2.7 million in cap space.  They wouldn't be able to sign Osemle with that amount of money they would have a terrible Quarterback.  And Ozzie would be the laughing stock of the NFL

It amazes people who comment on stuff that have no idea what is involved in the situation.

  5. Ozzie listen Heres what you do trade 2nd round pick and 1 3 rd comp pick for 1 more 1st round pick pick Jalen Ramsey then pick Treadwell. Use the other picks to draft pass rusher then a solid LG or LT tackle. That's it

You can't trade comp picks this year.  I would think trading up to the first round is a good idea. Maybe at the back of the first.  Going to the top isnt going to happen for a second and third.   But getting back into the first lets you get another player you can keep for 5 years instead of 4.

  6. Why are people so quick to dismiss the loss of Suggs as if it's small? Today, Biscotti called Suggs the most important player on the defense. Does that not mean anything to anyone?

We also lost Ngata.   Two guys who got double teamed.  You saw how it effected Elvis and you saw how it effected our middle linebackers.  People act like the players have nothing to do with the result on the field.

  7. Is that donkey face ever going to act like a professional ever in his life?

Ravens bagged him the biggest money ever in his lifetime, and he is going to bag another one if renegotiated.

The past contract he worked on were all 3rd-tier garbage chumps. Because that is all he can get being a Horses rear. So he bagged Joe Flacco. Now he think his a shot caller.

The guy is the first rate [profanity deleted].

I have no idea what you are complaining about the Ravens have not asked to extend him.  There will be no renegotiation.  There will be no money saved by giving Joe a new contract.  Instead the team would pay Joe a lot more money and then in 3 years they would have a huge contract problem again.   Joe would gladly take an extension that pays him a ton of money.

But the team put themselves in this position.  They could have had the contract be a 20 million cap hit each year.  They choose to borrow from the future.  The future is now here.  They can borrow from the future again and have an even bigger problem or they can just take the cap hits now.

  8. Extending Joe Flacco's contract doesn't save the team caps space. It actually takes up more caps space. It just could save money next year and then you have a bigger problem coming down the road. Same with restructuring Webb's contract. It is just stealing money from future teams. And that is the reason we have the problems we do every year with cap space. Cutting Webb would only save 3.5 million dollars so if you think you can find a better free safety than him for that money do it. But i doubt you can.

  9. Down votes are because people don't agree with you, I guess. Offense did pretty well last season considering how many starters it lost to injuries and gave a lot of opportunities to D to stop the opposition to win the game.

If you consider 25 in the league in points good than they did well.  I would consider top 15th or better good.  Look they did worse than defense.  The Defense didn't have many injuries but still the offense was worse.  Lets stop saying they were good when they were not.  Yardage doesn't mean much.  It is scoring.

And the offense was bad before the injuries came.  In the beginning the only starter injured was Monroe. And Monroe played some.  I would say Suggs is a bigger loss than Monroe.  The team stunk this year.

Also you win games by scoring more than the opponent.  They didn't score much.  They had the ball just as  much as the other team.

  10. Right after mentioning how Monroe is still under contract. You know, the guy who by his own admission played,"pretty good"(when he was out there).

    Translation;later,K.O

The team can't afford Osemele.  Why add another bad contract to one that already exists.  They would have to have a contract with a low cap hit first year and then increase dramatically each year.  Osemele is injured a lot too.  So you would face the same dilemma in a couple of seasons.  No more dumb contracts

  11. The team was what 25th in points scored?  I think the offense was worse than the defense.  Especially with the offense giving up picks six's thanks to Schaub.

Why all the down votes?  You don't like facts to get in the way of your preconceived misguided notions?

  12. Oh please. Defense has gotten all the love in the draft and FA with the only exception being this last draft. No excuses for being bottom feeders. Suggs is one person. Trestman, fresh into a new year and running someone else's system then having to use the likes of Schaub, Clausen and Mallet did better with MORE injuries. Practically ALL his starters out. Injuries are no excuse.

The team was what 25th in points scored?  I think the offense was worse than the defense.  Especially with the offense giving up picks six's thanks to Schaub.

  13. Monachino has seasons of success behind him. One season does not define him. Pees, on the other hand, has seasons of mediocrity and failure behind him. This one season is just more of the same.

Failure?? He has been to two Super Bowls as a Defensive Coordinator.  What I don't get is everyone is blasting the coach and everyone is blasting the players.  How do you expect him to have a great defense with no star players on defense?

    -1

  14. Awesome. First Austin and now Monachino. All so we can keep Mr. Mediocre around for yet another nightmare season of defense.

Of course, I'm sure the Pees defenders will use that as their excuse when Pees sucks again next season.

As I said before, if the team sucks next year Harbaugh will be fired and new head coach will bring in a new defensive coordinator.

  15. I don't care who comes out of the NFC, but as long as the Steelers, Bengals, or Pats don't come out of the AFC, I'm good.

I would like to the see the Bengals make it to the Super Bowl.  Marvin Lewis deserves it.  Nothing against the Bengals really.  Can't stand the Broncos with Elway being their GM.  Hope they lose their first game.

  16. You knock people for criticizing Pees because of poor personnel, then want to say that Monachino didn't have a good year because the linebackers didn't play well? The same excuse for poor performance would apply to both.

I do agree that it is somewhat silly to just assume he'd be better than Pees as a DC. It is a different job and no on knows how anyone is going to do when they get promoted to the next level of coaching. It is like assuming that a great coordinator will automatically become a great HC. It simply doesn't always work out that way.

I didn't knock Monachino.  I was saying that why would praise Monachino while criticizing Pees.  Linebacker play was probably the weaker than secondary and defensive line last year.  So why would you fire Pees to hire Monachino if you think the reason for firing them was because performance on the field?

  17. As unhappy as he seems right now about the position switch, once he applies himself and invests fully into being a free safety, I think Webb will surprise himself and the rest of us with how effective he can be! He just needs to commit to it with some passion. Maybe talk to Ed Reed and get some pointers to get him tracking in the right direction perhaps?

He was a safety in college, I am sure he will be fine there.  All the injuries have slowed him down.  Still knows how to play the game though.  Really overall he wasn't that bad at corner this year.

  18. Umm, not quite.

    1. Canseco outed people mostly based on watching them use PEDs. That would qualify as eyewitness testimony from credible sources. Plus, some of the people he outed went on to fail tests later, which was validation.

    2. ARod got suspended when they actually showed evidence if him using, not based on a written article that was immediately retracted. They had evidence that was provided in a court of law as part of Biogenesis AND, most importantly, he confessed to using PEDs in the past prior to even being suspended. Note that he confessed in 2007 to past steroid use, yet he wasn't suspended by MLB until 2013.

    3. Lance Armstrong may have had rumors, but he literally passed hundreds of drug tests before being caught. Agaim, like the others, they actually have EVIDENCE.

Sorry, but your examples hurt your argument more than help it. I can assure you MLB won't touch these guys based on a report that the source acknowledges to fabricating. They don't even suspend players for admitting usage.

There is evidence but you choose to ignore it.  I don't know why though.  Oh well bury your head in the sand.

  19. Hey, when you suck at your job, you're going to get canned. Same goes for you and I. Pees is an awful DC and deserves the boot.

If he was awful he wouldn't have been to two super bowls as a defensive coordinator.  He might not be the best in the league but to call him awful is ridiculous.

  20. All of you knocking Pees look at the guys he has out there playing for him.  Then look at the 2006 Ravens defense that Rex Ryan had playing:

    Ray Lewis
    Bart Scott
    Haloti Ngati
    Tyrell Suggs
    Adalius Thomas
    Ed Reed
    Trevor Pryce
    Chris McAlister
    Samari Rolle
    Jarret Johnson
    Kelley Gregg
    Dawan Landry

  21. Not likely. He'd face charges, but wouldn't end up in jail.

He made up a story, admitted to lying about it, and is now being sued by multiple guys he falsely accused.

I'm not sure what else there really is to discuss at this point.

Lance Armstrong sued and won against a newspaper that claimed he was using PEDs.

    0

  22. Thats because most of them actually began with some sort of factual evidence, which this accusation doesn't have.

A failed drug test, eyewitness accounts from credible sources, etc. Those would be the kinds of things you're looking for.

We have none of those things in this case, and we also have an admission of fabrication...something I don't recall seeing in other cases.

That is not true at all.  Canseco started most of the claims about people being on drugs.  A-Rod got suspended a year for something that started like this.  Lance Armstrong had rumors for years. I think there will be suspensions in baseball over this eventually.  In Football nothing will happen as the NFL doesn't care.
