  1. There is next to no one to cut to save money.  Here is who we could cut and the money we would save:

    Daryl Smith 2.6 million
    Steve Smith 3 million
    Justin Forsett 2.3 million
    Chis Canty 2.15 million
    Kyle Arrington 1.4 million
    Will Hill 2.8 million
    Webb 3.5 million
    Elvis Dummervil 2.6 million

Ok Webb has been our best corner.  You aren't going to get a decent Corner for 3.5 million he stays

Will Hill has been outstanding.  He stays

Elvis has been our only pass rusher he stays

Kyle Arrington - he is gone .  Save 1.4 million

Chris Canty - pretty solid player and cheap.  However we have a lot of young linemen.  I say he gets cut saving 2.15 million

Steve Smith - probably retires saving 3 million

Daryl Smith - Leading tackler.  Seems to do well except against the pass.  I don't know if you keep him or just put Orr there.  I say we keep him as he is still pretty cheap.

Forsett - Pretty good runner.  But we need to save money wherever wee can.  2.3 million savings to cut.

so 2.3 + 3 + 2.15 + 1.4 = 8.85 million.  And you lose Forsett, Canty and Steve Smith.  Not exactly the best news.

Pitta will be cut post June 1st to save the team 5 million.

  2. I have watched Tucker make kick after kick from 60 yards before the games.  Same with other NFL kickers.  It is more a mental issue more than a just aim left.  That is why Tucker has been such a plus in the past is that he hasn't been effected by nerves.

Anyway if you are depending on kickers to consistently make 55 yarders in games you are going to lose a lot of games.

  3. Matt Elam played well in his rookie season but  was just  bad in his second season. I honestly like to reserve my comment on him because the guy never got the opportunity to  play in his third season due to injuries. It's interesting how high round picks like Arthur Brown, Terrence Brooks, and etc haven't been able to get it yet and only one constant remains which is Dean Pees at defensive coordinator.

Well same scouts and Ozzie still in charge of drafting them.   Arthur Brown was a mistake to draft.  Too small to play linebacker in the NFL.

  4. I was wrong on this one. Maybe this one will be the last one. Outside of that he played pretty respectable. That last one was a little too freakish to be a true PickSix. What a season.

Schaub has faced two awful defenses in the Browns and the Dolphins.  23rd and 25th respectively against the pass. Next week in the Seahawks he faces the 4th best pass defense.  I think Schaub is going to be entering a world of pain.

  5. Yes.

Out of curiosity, does that count Perriman and/or Pitta?

I don't see how you could day either Perriman or Pitta was an expected starter.   Perriman hasn't even played in the pre-season for the team or any team for that matter.  Everyone expected Pitta to never play again once he had the injury.

So what is it Flacco, Steve Smith, Zuttah, Forsett.  That is 4 on offense.

Suggs on defense.  That is five.  Who else is on IR that would be starters?

  6. His stupid pick, six really sucked. Where's Bryn Renner?

My thoughts exactly.  Schaub has proven the past 2 games he does not belong in the NFL.  He can't make the long throws he throws pick six's on the short throws.  What does he exactly bring to the table.  I mean Kyle Boller sucked but at least he had an arm.

    Bad; Schaub, offensive line

Good: Defense.  Actually this gives me hope for next season. If you add Suggs to the defense we have out there it would be pretty solid unit.  Webb and Smith have been playing really well.

  7. Same situation basically. Both haven't gotten a chance because of experienced players and high draft picks above them. With Brown, he would've been our starter alongside Daryl Smith if we didn't draft C.J. Moseley. Then with Brooks, he's a young and developing safety, which can take some time and he's had experienced guys above him so far in his career.

Orr is playing now and Brown isn't.  Drafting Mosley doesn't have to do with Brown not playing.  Brown must be sucking in practice.

  8. I think it easily has to be this year.  A lot of people had expectations of us to go to the SB and i wont lie, i picked us to lose against the Packers this year.  Back in the day before Flacco we werent a balanced team and anything could happen but i never had high expectations except with Steve McNair.  I have never seen anythin glike this with injuries to key players and like others have said it is part of the game.

On a brighter note, we are the only team to lose 7 games by 8 points or less in NFL history.  With the lack of talent we have, i actually this means more than some.  To me its something to build on, yes a loss is a loss but with such lack of talent we have played the Broncos, Cards, Bengals pretty damn well.  Yes we have holes and we will do what we do and try to fix them....But somehow i can still find some positve things to take from this season

    -Gillmore is a beast

    -high draft pick

    -close games

    - more snaps for back up players

    -brandom williams is a beast

I never thought this team would be good.  They were awful in pre-season.  They had very easy schedule last season.  They lost Torrey Smith and Mcphee.  I figured 7-9 or so.

  9. It's his system, he doesn't play to player's strengths. He puts them in bad positions to fail, not play to their strength and put them in the right position to succeed. We play zone a lot but our corners are better with man coverage. Pees just keeps screwing around, and as we all know Pees will continue blaming the players instead of looking in his mirror and realizing his scheme sucks.

The defense has played well the last two games.  Giving up 20 points is not too bad.  You want to force firing Pees into everything.

  10. I agree that pass rusher is the top need.  Right now, the offense has exactly 4 starters that were projected as starters in August (Yanda, Wagner, Gilmore, and Juice).  The defense is only missing 1 starter and it's still the worst unit of the two.  Pass rusher is the top need on defense easily

You forgot Aiken.  Really the team was doing pretty poorly when all the starters on offense were playing.

  11. probably if Flacco was still at the helm. If schaub manages to win even 3 games I will be CONVINCED that the football gods are dumping on us and have a serious grudge.

If the team wins three more games that means it is because the team is playing better.  That means our players aren't as bad as we thought and with better health next year we could be in the fight for a playoff spot.

  12. Agreed there.  Ozzie has the chance to completely rebuild the roster with at least 2 immediate starters who are playmakers, likely 3.  If he gets this draft wrong this team is super screwed.  He can't mess this one up.

I don't see how you can we are screwed if he messed up in the draft.  If he does we will be back drafting at the top again next year.  Ozzie might not be around to do the drafting though.

  13. thats my biggest fear lol but i think with us having a win over the chargers and their team being such a mess right now, i think theyre destined to finish above us, and i think its between us, tennessee, cleveland, and detroit for 2nd, and im not sure were gonna outsuck all of them, even with schaub, im still thinking 2nd or 3rd, hopefully we dont fall to 4th because i want tunsil or bosa and i consider ramsey/hargreaves the consoloation prize

I want us to win as many games as possible.  Because if we win say 3 or 4 more games it will mean the players we have remaining are better than we thought.  I would rather have better current players than draft 4 or 5 positions higher.

  14. Tebow's problem he is not a prototypical NFL Quarterback.  People are so opposed to change and thinking out the box that they never give him a chance even though he had a lot of success when he had the chance with the Broncos .  THey would rather sign a proven failure that can throw the ball very well.  Look at Kyle Boller.  Terrible in every facet of being a QB but look how long we kept him around just because he was graded well on some criteria that scouts have.

  15. Only 12 coaches in the NFL have been coaching with their current team more than 3 years.  Of those coaches only one has failed to win at least 5 games in a season.  That is Marvin Lewis who has won 4 games in a season and has kept his job.

A good comparison to Harbaugh would be Andy Reid.  Had tons of success. 9 playoffs appearances in 11 years.  Has a 4-12 record and is fired.

  16. Not one team in the NFL would give you even a 6th rounder for either.  PLUS, whatever you would get, you'd still be forced to pay their salary.  Suggs "WAS" a beast...not "is".  After tearing the same achilles 2x, he'll be lucky to walk properly again let alone play in the NFL let alone play at a premium level.   yet, he has two more hugely expensive GUARANTEED years left on his contract, with no way for the Ravens to get out from under the cap commitment (you can't even let him go without suffering the cap hit).

The same is basically true of Webb, with only a slightly lower cap hit.  Both guys were wildly overpaid, and will hurt us for some time yet.

Bottom line is the Ravens need to do a much better job negotiating contracts going forward. Perennial winners like the Pats teach us that large contracts should only go to one player, the QB, with WR, TE, and DB the best place to invest otherwise...every other position is too easily replaced to lay your chips on, especially LB.

Ravens will need two full more years to escape the cap hits that have already been agreed to.

Well Webb is a cornerback which is a DB.  There are no better players than Webb available for a sixth round pick.

And we certainly miss Suggs.  He is not overpaid at all.  He is injured.  If he weren't he would be a disruptive force on the field

  17. no, the doctor that got it wrong. It was a gross error in retrospect. It's a firable offence

So let me get this straight you want the Ravens team doctor fired because Perriman should have been put on IR long ago so we wouldn't have  to put other injured players on IR who are not much better than practice squad players?  I think those guys would have ended up on IR even if Perriman was on IR all season.  Like I said some people are grasping for straws.
