  1. It was predictable to Houston. What did we expect against a top defense that practices daily against Kuniak's offense? While it could've gone either way, I'm sure that had he had another crack at his former team while in Bmore he'd have made some adjustments.
  2. I know he was supposed to visit the team, but what are the odds they sign him? He does count against the comp picks which is typically a no-no for Ozzie.
  3. This needs to be addressed 'cuz I'm tired of seeing the Schuab ignorance. Kubiak coached the most success offense this franchise has ever had. He's gone. The Ravens hired Trestman because, like Schaub, he has familiarity with his system. Trestman's version is a little different and Mornhinweg has no experience in it. Schaub is the missing link. He has intimate knowledge of Kubiak's system. Without Gary, Schaub will fill in the holes. Make no mistake Schaub can still play and will if necessary. His incentive laden contract is proof that he is here as a teacher as much as a b/u to Joe.
  4. 1) He doesn;t need a "full tank" to be a back up. 2) That is not a lot of money for a guy that can step straight in and excute if need be, will continue to the teach the offense in place of Kubiak, and since he mat never get used the deal would then essentially be $2M.at most. I honestly don't get all the questions on Ozzie's judgement. This is the Ravens, not Raiders. Let's leave the cap decisions up to the guy that does his 24/7.
  5. ...and 1/20th as useful
  6. no he was released
  7. I agree whole heartedly with the first part - he WILL help Joe, Trestman and the offense acclimate to the offense. As a plyer who spent seven years in it only Joh Elway and maybe Kyle Shanahan know it better. The second part couldn;t DISAGREE with more. Schaub had a disasterous 2013 largely because he played on a injured ankle on his planting foot. He had a terrible OL that was more turnstyle than wall and the team was frasgmented by Wade Phillips' undermining Kubiak. No one should fault him for not trying too hard in Oakland. That place is crazier than Bellvue and I'm sure he did what he could to not commit there long term. This is a great signing. Schaub is 33 and is the ONLY QB on the market that can start a game. He started as a top back-up and will likely end up that way. I couldn;t be happoer with the deal.
  8. Peter King Tweeted: https://twitter.com/SI_PeterKing/status/582962137217282049 Matt Schaub Signed. That was fast.
  9. Now there's a goodname for a quality b/u. He's another Flacco-esque QB and young enough stiull be shaped further in his mold. The Ravens will need to trade for him but I don;t know what the Bucs would reasonably expect for him - 6th? a 5th?
  10. I don't think our current back-up QBs will every cut it. I'm hoping for one both these possibilties. Either draft Sean Mannion from Oregon St. in 5-6th rounds and/or sign Matt Schaub on the cheap. Mannion is a big QB sort of a cross between Joe and Schaub. He's a better developmental prospect than Wenning and has the tools become an NFL starter. Schaub is far from finished and can be a great veteran back-up for at least one season. He had one disasterous season and flourished in system that we now use; Trestman's style offense is close to Kubiak's. If ever called upon he could prosper here and we do well with reclaiming once good players off the scrap heap.
  11. There's not much variation from the 1990's unis til now unless you count the logo which has copyright infringement all over it. Unfortunately THAT is the only throw back I'd like to see. Don;t knoe if they can work it out with Harley-Davidson or not. About all the Ravens can so special (and have done successfully) is the all black, prime time unis. Technically they go back 8 year to '06 (I think) but I'd vote to have those back in use a couple more times a seasons.
  12. Exploiting the rules like that is more thn just shady. Not playing to the spirit of the rules and using their lack of explicit definition is to me it a clear intent to cheat. Otherwise, if he could beat the Ravens without the use of deceit he would've. And to be clear it wasn;t just the Ravens that BB was tricking, it was the refs and by proxy, the league. I felt this should've been dealt with more harshly at the time because if one team gets away with it then other will attempt similar hijinks. Then every weekend the league has to investigate some cheat or another which will errode fan confidence and eventaully and irreparably hurt the brand. As it is it, was "nice" of Harbaugh to handle it this way rather than rant an rave at the time to force some immediate punitive measure on BB. He certainly could've raised a big stink about it but he did the professional thing and STILL Pats fans are calling HIM a whiner - pretty hypocritcal from from the fanbase of a team that gave us the Tuck Rule.
  13. That seems to be my understanding too. He's not high on my list, but the potential for a deep threat and and KR man is there. With Camp likely as the KR and Brown and Aiken looking far better as receivers I'm still not sure how he'd fit here or if he's worth bringing in to develop and at what cost. Still, we've revived a few other Vikings in the past. If Ozzie isn't interested though, I'll defer to the Wiz.
  14. If he;'s a good as everyone thought, the Vikes won't let him go that cheap. No way no how. If they do then they've given up on him being a good receiver and use im on S/T and gadget plays. He's still a developing receiver and I don't know that the Ravens are a team that game plans around players like him. I like his potential too, but I don't see how he fits here.
  15. I like both those guys, but of the two Chandler seems to be the one because he has better receiving skills. Trestman had Martellus Bennett in Chicago and he's a beast. Anyone think that Crockett is ready though? He made some good grabs across the middle and had a few first downs in limited action.
  16. I just moved from Baltomore to rural PA (long story) but the move killed me for Sudays and it was hard to wath Ravens games live anywhere - have to stream them mostly after the fact. I was convinced too that this was Steelers and Eagles country, but there turned out to be a good mix even some Ravens around too. Giants and Packers show their colors here too, I fly a Ravens flag at my farm house and no buckshot yet.
  17. Still feel Revis is a pipe dream, but if the Pats want his services for 2015 they'll either need to pony up his $20M option or work him a long-term deal. The Pats are very pragmatic not getting sold on big names, and they have a ton of cap invested in Brady, Gronk, Nincovch, Wilfork Mayo, Solder, Vollmer, etc. They're at $147+ for 2015 which is about $7M over the projected. Anyone want to see the Ravens spend some money on bringing him here? At 29, a long-term deal will a lower the annual cap hit. Imagine Revis and Smith in the same defensive backfield.
  18. How does training camp count into into the salary cap when its beased on the top 51 salaries? I'm not a Richardson fan - major bust. But busts sometimes have a way of turining themselves around - sometimes. Look at Mark Ingram. If they bring in Richardson for a test run and they find a role for him then that's fine by me. He obviously has some talent and the Ravens have a history of bringing out the best out of players boith good and bad. Besides, out system is different now and while I'd like to see Forsett in black and purple, Trestman may need a different type of player for his system. Trestman maybe the "QB-whisperer", but Kubiak was the "running back whisperer".
  19. Eddie Royal. Highly possible an highly productive at X,Y or Z
  20. I wouldn;t expect to see a top CB in te backfield unless we drafted him. Free Agent top cornerbacks are luxuries because you always spend twice as much for the best ones and you're STILL one injury away from a disaterous seson then, Pass rush comes cheaper and they're easier to develop from scratch - meaning cheap rookie labor or salvaged vets. Never quite seems to work out that way for DBs. Right now, I think our DBs will be much better next year even among the group they have. Ngata can still play at a high level and get pressure. Granted Brandon Williams, Jernigan and Tyson have shown they can hold down the fort, but then you have Canty talking retirement. Now pass rush is something they need to fortify - AGAIN. Without Ngata that leaves an even bigger hole there. It's is time to ask him to drop his salary number or extend it out. He's showing that he needs Aderall to stay focused and is always slowed by a nagging injury. I'd like to see him retire a Raven, but if he can;t live up to the salary number or alter the deal then I trust in what Ozzie decides.
  21. Regarding Mornhinweg what I know is that he was Brett Favre's QB coach during his first Super Bowl season in 1996 (Andy Reid followed his up with the 2nd in 1997). He left to go to a great 49ers teams with Young and Rice. That team went 13-3. Trestman was the OC there the year before too and was 12-4 in consecutive seasons. Whether they can reporduce that here is anyone's guess, but like the 1990's 49ers, the Ravens are similarly positioned for a few more seasons of double digit wins. Shooting for another 2-3 wins per season (like the 9er's had) would be a nice goal to shoot for.
  22. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/deflate-gate-report--11-of-patriots--12-game-footballs-were-under-inflated-043620937.html I'm just frustrated. After watchin the fiascos of games last weekend, I feel the Ravens could've beaten the both the Colts and Seahawks for title #3. The recent report that the Patriots likely tampered weith their balls for the game with Indy is disturbing. It's like they just can't stop cheating. The link provided also goes on to say that the Ravens coaching staff also suspected this during the Ravens-Patriots game before Indy got blown out. Improperly inflated balls might not have saved Indy in that beatdown of a game, but a closer game like Baltimore's could make all the difference. Honestly, are the refs going to have to start carrying balls to the games now? And should the Pats be punished for this? Video-gate, illegal line ups and now this? I think ol' Billy-fairplay needs another $500k fine or fork over some draft picks.
  23. I don;t see the difference between what I said and what you said. They from the same tree. They're similar. What?
  24. Shanahan gave Kubiak his job in Denver and they have Super Bowl rings together in the Elway era. They Kubiak hired Shanny's son, Kyle as is OC in Houston for 8 seasons. I think their all pretty well intertwined.
  25. He managed to get along with Cutler, but he's still a head case. Flacco at least works in ernest and isn't a pouty-pants. They should be able to get on the same page quickly. And Trestman and Kubiaks have similar schemes.
