    Left end and right end are the same position: End. you dont need 4 of them. and in a 3-4 defense you certainly dont need a 4 deep DT chart. In base 3-4 you might use 2 or 3 DTs on occasion in special sub packages, but more often than not, if we arent on the goal line or blocking a field goal, we'll only be using one.

    and why do we always keep so many lineman? look at the list that i commented on they were all on the roster last year plus arthur jones who was not even listed. do you really think you will survive in the NFL with only 5 defensive lineman? you need multiple bodies to rotate in at different positions.

    upshaw is LISTED as OLB, he IS whatever we need him to be in the moment, much like Suggs and Dumervil.

    and when have you ever seen us run a defensive play with 4 Ends and 4 DTs on the field? do you even know what 3-4 means?

     when i listed 4 ends and 4 tackles i meant as depth at the position. in other words we should have 2 left ends on the roster same with RE and DT. obviously they wouldn't be on the field together ever unless its field goal block.

    now Urban

    only 6 (and even that is a little excessive) of these cats tops make it on to the 45 man list on any given game day, that means we're going to have at least 4 guys twiddling their thumbs back at the castle every sunday.

    we run a hybrid 3-4 at least 2 guys at LE 2 at RE and 4 at NT/DT. upshaw is an olb.

    What, just as good as Pryor and Dix? Get the heck out of here. They were the 2 best Safeties in the draft, along with Ward. Besides them, how many other Safeties went ahead of him? I guess all the other clubs don't know what their doing, that's why he fell to the late 3rd round. Is that what your saying?

    what I'm saying is the ravens had a choice of both safeties and chose mosley, now either you are right and the whole ravens front office is wrong or they realized that they could get a guy later who has  better speed and had more turnovers during his career.than either safety.

    2-3 years from now? Then why not draft a ILB next year or the year after and take the Safety you need right now, right now. I want to win this year not in 3 years. Also, you can get a decent ILB in the later rounds more then you can get a decent Safety.

    because we just got a guy in terrence brooks who is as good as haha or calvin pryor. ozzie had a choice and didn't pick either safety. mosley will start this year at ILB and brown will sub in.

    don't be upset at the niners we had our chance at any safety we wanted with the 17th pick and we decided to draft a backup linebacker

    he will start next to darryl and brown will come in one third down as a coverage LB. realize that smith is almost 33 YO chances are he is gone in 2 years due to cap hit and probable decline and ozzie has prepared for that by getting 2 young players.
