  1. Before they were able to sign anyone, I just thought they didn't care but it looks like I was wrong. They were simply waiting for the price to come down a lot like what the Ravens like to do. Smart moves I have to say and thank goodness they have decided to spend some money this year.
  2. We apparently had around 11.3 mil in cap room before the Suggs extension which saved 4.6 mil to get us to 15.9(all of this based of the previous projected 2014 cap of 126.3 mil). Now however with this news and the cap being 3.7 mil more than expected, we will have around 19.6 mil in cap room. Factor in the 3.2 mil from cutting McClain, the 1.6 mil from cutting Koch, and the 1.75 mil from cutting Leach and we would have around 26.15 mil in cap room if those cuts are made. Now there is some spending money. I think now, we could re-sign Monroe, resign Pitta, and now we have a good chance of bringing Daryl Smith back all while having money for the RFA tenders and draft picks and such.
  3. 130 mil cap this year gives us some more money to play with than previously thought.
  4. I heard the physical went well and he passed. Props to the O's for actually getting someone this year. Now lets see what they can do.
  5. I have to agree with everyone here. O-line comes first and I think Monroe is our top guy. If we have space for Pitta to come in and he wants a reasonable deal, then we can go with that. If not, we will either sign another TE(Brent Celek possible cap cut maybe?) or draft a guy.
  6. That brings up an interesting topic as well. The revenues for the new CBA factor in for the 2014 salary cap. However according to Robert Craft(a guy who apparently did a lot of work getting this CBA done and probably knows about it as much as anyone) says that the cap will have more of a smooth growth over the rest of the CBA since the TV revenue increase also comes incrementally. So I don't think there will be a magic increase but apparently it will be by a few mil per year until the CBA ends and we have a decent sized cap at that point. It is kind of complex so these articles are some good ones if you are trying to figure it out. Don't expect some magic spike in the cap numbers however. http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2012/3/25/2900655/nfl-salary-cap-2014-dallas-cowboys-bob-kraft-new-england-patriots-jerry-jones http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/23/kraft-cautions-against-a-cap-spike-in-2014/
  7. Franchise tag for TE is worth 6.7 mil I believe. I think if Pitta won his case, no one in their right mind would give him 11.5 mil when the best in the game make around 7-8 mil at TE. Also Boldin is a touchy subject still on these boards to some. I did not neg you by the way, just saying why some might have
  8. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24446926/report-orioles-ubaldo-jimenez-making-progress-on-four-year-deal Pending physical so that is not a good sign lol but you never know, they might finally sign someone.
  9. O's apparently getting close to signing a starting pitcher
  10. I believe McClain saves 3.2 while Koch saves 1.6. Leach saves 1.75
  11. Don't forget Justin Tucker coming up as well in a couple years. He is going to want Dan Bailey money after that awful contract offer by JJ lol. I think Torrey Smith, Jimmy Smith, and Ngata will be the big contract guys in 2015. For Ngata, it will be an extension or a release. Jimmy and Torrey will probably be locked up long term. Jimmy Smith really earned himself some money this season and if he keeps playing how he has been, that will be a tough re-sign. Torrey will be an interesting one as well.
  12. I think Jacksonville is kinda underrated on offensive skill guys. I feel between Blackmon, Cecil Shorts, and M Lewis that they have some talent there. The O-line needs some help and they will need a new running back but this is a league of parody so they can't be THAT far out from contending. They have another year I would say at least but a qb and some O-line help as well as a RB would help them a bit. I mean you can't really show off your skills with Blaine Gabbert throwing you the ball can you? I am not saying they are making the playoffs next year or anything but I do think they are fixable. But hey, it is the offseason where Browns fans have hope of making the playoffs so they probably won't be good for a couple more years at least.
  13. That is a good point to bring up. Just goes to show that either Preston is a really good guesser, can see the future, or he must have a reliable source in the thick of things.
  14. Aaron Wilson just said that they have reached a deal.
  15. I believe Jared Cook argued the same issue last year with the Titans about the tag and won. I think we need to just lock Pitta up in the 5-7 mil range over 4 years. Maybe some incentives the first couple of years but I think his play in the last 4 games helped Pitta a lot in terms of health and I don't think it would scare too many other teams.
  16. Ngata gets his turn in 2015, Rice can play that game in 2016, and Webb in 2016/2017 depending on his play the next 2 years. As for Suggs, he is about 12 mil on the cap this year so something like 5-6 mil for 4 years would work. Save us 6-7 mil on the cap while still letting us keep Suggs. All in all would work out well I believe. Good to hear they are getting closer to an extension however. I wouldn't call him a Mt. Rushmore Raven but he is definitely up there. In the first 8 games he was playing at DPOY level possibly so you don't want to let that walk out the door if you can help it.
  17. Lets just hope they are not using any fax machines lol
  18. All I know is that I will breathe a massive sigh of relief if we can get Monroe re-signed(knock on wood)
  19. Lets hope we are not drafting that high next year lol
  20. True they like him a lot
  21. I think we keep Monroe. We will tag him if we have to. I think the Raider's guy is fairly decent as well if by some chance he hits the market and we lose Monroe.
  22. The Broncos also wouldn't invest that kind of money into a RT either since they have Clady. And the Raiders have their own guy who they like and will probably re-sign.
  23. And you know what they say about a happy wife
  24. I don't think even Richard Hammond would like that Porsche
  25. Problem is who would we draft at LT? Matthews and Robinson would both be long gone. Do we go Lewan who could be gone anyways? Or the dreaded Kouandjio? Do we put Martin at LT? Or we could go the FA route since we wouldn't have to worry about signing Monroe? This is going to be interesting
