Is it possible they're throwing to Perriman less to avoid having to pay him? Giving Osemele the opportunity to thrive last year proved to be a major loss for us.
Fast, mentally strong starts define a GOOD team. We don't have that. Started with Hester's late fair catch call, then his fair catch call slash let the ball go to the one yard line, then a safety on a horrible run call, then a botched field goal. The Patriots had their domination scripted from the beginning. Starting with the 3rd series, our defense was relegated to a zone 4-man front with hardly any blitzing. Brady owned us. Flacco looked owned. We need to come out sharp with surprises, and that's what the Patriots did.
Did we really have to play KO at Left Tackle for those last couple games? Not only did we price him out of a guard contract, but we let the whole league get a chance to see how good he was. Another strange coaching decision.
If Kaepernick ever plays a snap as a Raven, I'm boycotting this team. Stick to the 49ers and Beats headphones. I'll take Flacco and First Mariner Bank.
So many perfectly scripted answers from the Ravens players... "We just have to work harder." "We have to do our job." "You have to understand the game." What do we need? An absolute phenomenon of a player to rally around. A war general. A ball hawk. A WR with glue on his hands. A QB who is relentless. A frustrated, pissed-off, passionate human being who isn't interested in media politics and knows how good we really are. Out of that belief comes championships.
Elam is a free safety we used as a corner. Of course he's going to flounder. Watch his UF highlight reel again and it's clear to me we need this guy back. Use Elam the way the Cardinals used the "Honey Badger" Mathieu and we could have another game changer.
Smith is an inspiration. When he announced his retirement, I got excited thinking we'd end at SB 50 on the shoulders of another GREAT. I'd say he's made even more of an impact so far in this final year than Lewis made in his final year, without Deer Spray. I only wish our record was something he could be proud of... stay around buddy.
Ravens Early 1st Round Picks: Ogden (#4), Jamal Lewis (#5), Suggs (#10), Ngata (#12), Flacco (#18), Mosley (#17)... Picks in the 20s... Elam (32), Oher (23), Perriman (26) And we get lucky sometimes ... Lewis (26), Heap (31), Reed (24)
I remember getting more excited when our defense got a chance to play than the offense. Never knew when Ed Reed would get another interception. I hope we get another corner who thinks like a wide receiver.
Double whammy to have this play pulled illegally against us in the AFC Championship and then have it taken away LEGALLY by another poor judgment call by the NFL Referees. With so much money on the line on each play, either fine/fire the referees or allow penalties to be reviewed.
What are we really proving by winning a few games at the end of the season and losing out on draft position?
Let's just beat the Steelers on Dec. 27 and be done with 2015.
In every game, we were one touchdown away from winning. That's one Boldin catch in the endzone and one Torrey pretending to be the target. Flacco is known for targeting ONE GUY, but always having two or more options. He has one option in the end zone with Steve Smith. He's tried Justin and Gillmore, but come on - if we had one receiver in addition to Smith who was a threat, we would have won at least 4/6 of the games we lost this year.
How can anyone watching the instant replay get this call wrong? A referee should be immediately fired if he can't even call the instant replay correctly.
You throw into traffic when you absolutely know the receiver will win the contest. Gillmore is a 2nd year TE who never specialized in catching pre-NFL. Give him some time to build confidence before forcing him into the lime light. His off-sides penalty against the Cardinals at the end of the game shows how anxious the young guy is... and also tipped off their Defense.
Back to picking the "best available player" and rebuilding our defense. Flacco loves his offense simple and predictable, and we should have kept Boldin and Torrey so he could feel comfortable. Even Perriman as a new threat wouldn't have been any better than Maxx Williams.
