He surely played well (11 TD, 0 int) Did you watch Peyton Manning's post game interview after the mile high miracle? Reporters asked him why he didn't throw long much of the game. His response? " ... with #20 back there .... had to be careful with pushing the ball downfield ..." The mile high miracle pass was awesome. It was really just short of a Hail Mary pass. That game ended on an int by Corey Graham a defensive player. The AFC championship in New England: we held the Patriots scoreless in the second half. We were down 17-7 at the half and won 27-17. People always down play the incredible play of the defense because of Flacco's offensive out put in that playoff run. With all due respect... In 2012 Manning was no longer in the physical condition to just "push the ball downfield"... As the cold weather set in, he was reported to experience a numbness in the tips of his fingers which admittedly bothered him when throwing more longer than short passes, for example... And I don't think it's even fair to start analyzing if it was the O or the D which took the Ravens to and then won the Super Bowl - it was the combined effort of both. That's what I would say. But there are fans who literally think that Flacco put on his cape and told everybody else "... come ride with me.." That my friend is delirious.

Couldn't agree more. Fans that think if we just had that elite WR that our offense would be better; if we just give Flacco more weapons etc. To me that's a nirvana. Flacco cannot carry a team. He can however win games if it's presented to him. That means you need a dominant D to allow him to go and drive the dagger. Don't discount the morale aspect of a game. A great D affects the morale of a game. Flacco sometimes acts as though he'd prefer to be invisible on the sidelines during games. We need that mojo back. I hate the patriots and would never root for them, but if you are an offensive player whom would you prefer to patrol the sidelines when things aren't going exactly as planned? Flacco or Brady? We could have the best WRs on the planet on paper, and we could feel good about them in the preseason, however by mid season we will all be looking for excuses why they weren't any good. Of course Flacco never has anything to do with it. Even though he is behind every pass whether the WR catches it or not. The front office isn't perfect but this is what they do. They live and breathe football. I hear that Ozzie never misses a practice much less a game. 4 yrs is a long time. To us somethings might look like a fluke, but to them, there's seldom any flukes in football. They love Flacco for sure because let's face it; all the good QBs in the world right now are already starting for a team. You just can't go and get one. I'm sure they understand that there have been too many changes at the OC however he is going into his 10th year. So they know who they have. And they might well be thinking that without a dominant D there's no way to the promised land.

I think that Ozzie said that he would contribute on ST. I think though that a draft spot shouldn't be wasted on a so called ST player. Using the BPA philosophy one has to think that there are better players than that in the 6th round.

Lewis was a Tackle when we took him last year, so he may have to go back. I am intrigued by these picks and like the fact that we didn't shy away from beefy big guys in the middle. Harbs and Ozzie said they wanted to beef up the line, well that is exactly what they are doing. Gonna be fun! I realize that, but Alex is doing so well at LG. There's the temptation to secure the left side of the line with him and Stanley, so they can turn their focus to C and RT.

Offensive guards (one in rd 4 and the other on rd 5) based on history. We currently have 2 great guards in Yanda and Lewis. However these new picks appear to have potential, and they are both huge physically. One of them has to play RT to crack the starting line up.

Not necessarily. Remember BPA. Alex Lewis May well move to RT, but that's not the reason they drafted Siragusa.

The organization is doing the best it can. Best Player Available! Reaching for an offensive player or any player for that matter is not a good idea. Guess what these same fans will complain about it. This and that weapon for Flacco should not be the driving force unless that weapon is the BPA. The only thing I worry about which at this point is hard for the organization to avoid is having to let go of some talented defensive players to cut the team down to 53 because we're over loaded on defense. We definitely need a veteran center if we are to be competitive next year. Rookies seldom make great centers. If Mangold is healthy, I'd try to sign him and hope we pick up a rookie center in the draft and develop him. That leaves a void at RT. If Alex Lewis moves to RT then we need a LG. Both LG or RT can be filled by signing veteran players that are going to be released after the draft. As far as the WR position the team might be more optimistic than we fans are. After all Chris Moore was a monster at Cincinatti before we drafted him last year. If hypothetically he stayed in college one more year, and was playing for Alabama, he'd be at worse a second round WR this year. So all is not bad. We can still find a veteran WR after the draft that can move chains. The offensive philosophy and how we execute have to be the focus. It doesn't matter what players you have if you can't execute.

If any team offers a 3rd rounder for Jernigan, I'd trade him in a heartbeat. He is widely inconsistent although talented. The Ravens would not resign him next year anyway. The positive is that if they keep him this year he'd play lights out in a contract year. So having him alongside a pumped William, and Pierce next year would produce a dominant defensive front for sure - however short lived.

Why would you draft a player later if you intend on having them be your anchor starter? Many Centers have entered the league and started. But your point does show why the Ravens may want to take a good look at John Urschel and Matt Skura in Camp.( Skura worked on the PS all year and because Zuttah stayed healthy all year they did not need to bring him up. He very well may be much better than any fans know. ) Draft at a strong pick and put the player in action, if in camp or even early games he needs improvement then the 2nd line Center will need to step up -maybe for just a little while, maybe longer. or as you say pick up a vet Center - important at a good value price- who can add strength while the Rookie is developing. Mangold just doesn't appear to be in the price range for the Ravens. Also Oz often waits until after the Draft to fill in the final pieces. This way he can access the results of teams actual picks instead of just the "big board" So I disagree that the Ravens should wait past #80 to pick a top Center/G in the Draft, I would prefer they look seriously at using the #48. However i don't make the decisions and anything can happen if a FA player were to make a fit. LMAO!! Where did I say that the Ravens should pick the center of the future after pick #80. This hilarious! SMH!!!

Rookies seldom make great centers. The center has to make so many pre-snap reads that rookies usually do need to grow into that position. It takes 2 or 3 yrs. So I think that a trade if they don't sign Mangold is more likely for a center for this season. They can then draft a prospect later in the draft.

Tom Brady was pick #199 lol From football standpoint I don't think it does anything for us, it might actually hurt especially since we have no replacement for Zuttah. However financially it helps.

Reading this makes me think you started watching the Ravens AFTER the superbowl run of 2012. Even the few Steelers fans that I know give Joe props for his role in bringing home the Lombardi. I'm not one to casually call people that I don't agree with trolls but this is just such a clueless statement I don't know what to think about you. Is it cold in Ohio this time of year? Hehe I agree with him and disagree with you. Does that justify me calling you a troll? No. We are all Raven fans that see things differently. My concern is that you are stuck in 2012 with Joe Flacco. That's 5yrs ago. The average NFL career is shorter than 4 yrs. If we were to play revisionist history, Flacco was carried by the defense for most of his time leading to 2012. The 2012 playoff was his absolute best showing, since then he has essentially struggled "big league" lol In the meantime he has had 2 different $120M+ contracts. Most Ravens fans are upset that a lot of money that can be used to sign better players are tied up in his contract. Here's a QB that can't win without superstars and there's no money to get the superstar talents because of him. That's the point.

I hope he doesn't turn out like Lewis.
