how are people giving joe a pass on the receiving core? for the most part till smith sr went down it was the same 1 and 2 receiver with a rotation on the 3rd first. Second how many times was he sacked because he held on to the ball for far to long? look at mallet 3 or 5 step drops ball was released on time and on target. didnt throw a pick and was confident in his receivers. who he only has only met about 2 weeks ago. This is the NFL look at the rotation of OC and DC seattle has had since their first superbowl and they are still clicking. This forum is a bunch of excuses. I agree that he hasnt had stability but we paid him how much? come on joe get the job done. because backups are doing more with less.
Flaccos decision making lets be honest at times was subpar at best. he constantly looked for the big play instead of taken what the defense gives you. Sure Mallett has zero and i mean zero mobility but he took what the defense gave him and he took advantage of his opportunity. I just wish flacco trusted his arm and his guys enough to where he would put it in tight places. and move the ball. Go back and watch film, how many of his sacks were due to him holding onto the ball and not even willing to check down to the RB. this is Trestmans offense. Part of his offense is RBs getting receptions. I dont put down what joe has done for us in his career. but his performance has been lack luster at best. And this is a league of what have you done for me recently. His current performance hasnt lived up to his contract this year. 12 interceptions before he went down.... a losing record... blame it on who ever but the fact remains the offense goes through him. and it was simply just not going at times. not putting up points. getting off the field to soon. etc etc.
hypothetical question moving forward.
Lets say we dont rush joe back quickly to start next season week 1, lets say we roll into week 1 and 2 with Mallett at center. Mallet walks away those games with 2 W's, Ok at this point lets say flacco is more then ready week 3 to play. Do you start him? One more question, week 3 production from flacco doesnt match Malletts prior weeks and we lose. What then? Does the money talk so much that flacco unless injuried is our guy? or do you put the winning hand forward.
Again this is all hypothetically speaking. I am not saying Mallett is the answer to next year but if he plays next weeks game like he played VS the steelers dont you start to question it?
another question why is it taking back up QBs for aiken and other receivers to show production?? Aiken was seeing number 2 corners all year with flacco and SmithSR and never had the production he has been having since they both went down.... is that play design, flacco simply being single minded, or is that all the above?
These are all hypothetical things id like to see our front offense attempt to do or actually do...
Bring in the Fire Squad!
Out With the Old.
In with the NEW.
Draft Day decisions.
Pees bend dont break system blows been saying it for last 3 years
terrance brooks should start at FS the rest of the year, we spent a number 2 on him he has the hitting, closing speed, and eyes to read a qb to play the position, but it all comes down to the fact money talks way more over skill and more money is invested into lewis then brooks
ive heard nothing but our front office not giving up on this season. Were not in a situation of, evaluate the young guys the rest of the season yet. If we are honestly not throwing in the towel then im curious why we havent atleast brought him in to work him out. were talking about a team that signed Stokely 2 years ago or so. and his whole career was concussion riddled so why not see what he has left in the tank?
if we get a top ten picki know draft is 8 months away BUT
Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State
Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
Leonard Floyd, Edge Rusher, Georgia.
Laquon Treadwell, WR, Mississippi
really any of these especially the Corner will be a week 1 starter. With the ravens losing record I switched my work schedule around to watch more college football and less NFL football
other mentionables
Trevone Boykins, QB, TCU
He has the arm, speed, and skill to play west coast and be able to handle the deepball. He is the mobility to be a dual threat and but also with the intelligence to allow the play to develop first. Currently would be a 2-4 round pick. As of now. And with Joes negotiation at the end of the year it wouldnt be a dumb thing to look to draft and develop a QB especially since after this year by the time Boykins rookie contract is up, flacco will be 34 and we could see a drop off in his production sooner. and do you honestly what the game in shaubs hand?
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State.
He is numbers speak for themselves. 167 attepts 1130 yards rushing this year. We could really use a solid #1 RB moving forward. Forsett is in his 30s his contract only is for 3 years. Now this is only if we are not sold completely on our RB group.
Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama
This is a case for a LB opposite of Mosely, coming from the same school and taking over for Mosely since he will be the #1 once smith is gone. His production speaks for its self, and would be a nice addition to our LB core.
Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame
This little speed demon would fit perfectly in our offense. Just like some of the other Mentionables. This is a guy at this point we could trade back for and still get in the 1st round. and stock up on draft picks. Baring some weird injury he has the size, speed and production to fit well in our offense.
Im going to state a disclaimer first before anyone reads half this and thinks this is me hating on anyone. This is just something we gotta look at this year
Offense - Is joe our guy? I ask this because if he is we need to bring in (draft, trade of FA) Guys that can be offensive leaders. Joe just does not have the Genetic makeup to play and be that leader like so many other QBs in the league. He needs a supporting cast that will carry him. Hes never shown to be that guy. So why do we keep putting him with WRs who are no bodies and walk ons it seems?
If hes not, and if we are seriously going to questions our selves on whether or not he is. Then lets start considering drafting someone. Especially someone that is fine with a west coast style offense. We know the offense we want, we know we walk a run first team. Has anyone taking alook at Tyrod Taylor this year in buffalo? Yea hes injured but have you seen the production he has had with young receivers?
To many times this year, Ive seen joe being sacked focusing on the deep ball. instead of looking for the plays that will get yards. Maybe thats the read he was given or the play they wanted to go with, or the fact none of our WRs can get open. So you take alook further up the food chain. Why? Why are we not as coaches putting out players in the best POSSIBLE position to win....
Is Webb serious someone we want to move forward with? Knees surgeries can slow a guy down, age can slow a guy down. Injuries in general can slow a guy down. And it seems webb has slowed the heck down. lets face it injuries have hit our defense again this year. webb has all but dropped off, last year he was 107th-ranked corner who had six passes defensed and had allowed 72.2 percent of the passes to be completed against him. just a food for thought
is this the production our team wants from our front seven? There is no pressure ZERO none, and when there was our corners were being ripped. Not just this last week but this season since suggs went down.
Our draft classes for the last few years has been horrendous in general terms. we have found ourselves wasting picks on players that dont amount to anything more then players who have. Lets look at last years WRs who were drafted after Periman
(29). Indianapolis Colts - Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami (167yards this season)
(37). New York Jets - Devin Smith, WR, Ohio State (60Yards this season)
(40). Tennessee Titans - Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri (92 yards this season)
(41). Carolina Panthers - Devin Funchess, WR, Michigan (82 yards this season)
(69). Seattle Seahawks - Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas St. (217yards this season)
(70). Houston Texans - Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona St (58 yards this season)
these are players who most are not even expected to play much their rookie year because they have veterans who are healthy playing. However did we just not even look at Tyler Lockett for any reason? Speed, and skill set, early second round pick. Im really beginning to question some of our first round picks last couple of years.
now I get thats how the football bounces but we pay the coaches and the scouts and the trainers to get the best nfl raven team to play each year and tbh last 3 years we really havent. Anyone see Brady rip our secondary apart last year in the playoffs? Injuries are injuries Again its not an excuse on that whooping we got as far as stats were concerned
Dennis Pitta $6,200,000Where's Pitta on your top list? Also, comparing Webb# this year to SSS# this year. Where's the fairness in that? Just sayin'....should be reversed, in my opinion.
hes on the pup list so didnt see him down at the bottom right. the top 10 are top 10 active players on the team
I hate to say it we need to just move on from Camp why keep moving along with him, hes been IRd the last 2 years with some weird injury most receivers shake off. As for our WR/TE Corp I think we will be fine, I think the only blow to our Offense was the SSS injury. Our TEs are fine, have you seen the 2 rookies get the job done?
These are the cap hits for those who are curious and keep bringing up Joes Contract
1) Joe Flacco - $14,550,000
2) Lardarius Webb - $9,250,000
3) Marshal Yanda - $8,450,000
4) Eugene Monroe - $7,700,000
5) Elvis Dumervil - $7,375,000
6) Steve Smith - $4,166,666
7) Daryl Smith - $3,875,000
8) Jeremy Zuttah - $3,700,000
9) Jimmy Smith - $3,600,000
10) Will Hill - $2,410,000
3 of those players will most likely be gone by next year, Yanda, Steve Smith, and Daryl Smith. Due to retirement or final year of their contracts.
Followering Year Cap hits top ten
1) Joe Flacco - $28,550,000
2) Jimmy Smith - $9,600,000
3) Lardarius Webb - $9,500,000
4) Eugene Monroe - $8,700,000
5) Terrell Suggs - $7,450,000
6) Elvis Dumervil - $7,375,000
7) Dennis Pitta - $7,200,000
8) Will Hill - $4,590,000
9) Daryl Smith - $4,375,000
10) Jeremy Zuttah - $4,200,000
Can we now in week 4 of 2015 squash all talks of a restructure for Flaccos Contract cause its as friendly as it gets. You wanna talk contracts we can talk about Webb's which in my opinion hes not worth the money we are shoveling out. We can talk Yanda's because we could resign him and lower that hit since we would be foolish not to keep him. I think we do something with out LT since he seems to be injury prone last 2 years. but for the love of god, stop bringing up Flaccos Salary, his numbers this year if i recall are out of the top ten for QB cap hits in 2015. He is actually 12. Just look it up and to lazy to erase my last statement.
obviously our answer isnt in house, you guys pounded your chest with Thompson and look he was a bum. the front office knows more of what to do then we do let them do their job.
i honestly think we should atleast consider reaching out to the Bears about Alshon, after this game being down potentially 1 starting WR and having the other banged up... we havent been good at drafting WR's at all, the ones we have drafted we allowed to walk cause they didnt pan out so far. this including the most recent one in torrey smith. So if we could strike a long term deal with Alshon like we did when we traded for Boldin then why not offer up a 2 and a 4 or something. We are going to have the most comp picks this year anyways.... i just dont see the harm in getting a known and able receiver for picks since we cant draft one to save our lives...
im going to be straight with you, do not get use to how the ravens look now. ALSO get a good look at them now because they wont look this way next year good or bad. we will see alot of players departing baltimore come next offseason. This seem will be a 7-9 to 9-7 team and things will begin to implode, dont get comfortable now. Im calling it now, september 28th this will be a slippery slope down till they realize what they have isnt working and the door will begin to open and players leaving. Im not saying all of them but players like Elam, Webb, SSSR, Yanda or Osemeli, Brown, Daryl Smith, Canty, half the rotational guys up front. Even the coaching Staff we have since They failed to notice the knee condition the Perimans have in their family. We will probably take a good look at our pass rushers. Upshaw is gone, even some of the coaching staff will end up leaving, If there isnt an atmosphere change after what could be a very bad year for the ravens, expect the same thing next year.
Neg this all you want, Im just saying BallSoHard_University is correct. Look what the saints finally started doing cutting ties to big names like Jimmy Graham, to hopefully fix their team.
We continue doing what we are doing, all we will do is continue to spin our tires in mud
I think Harbs makes a move and cuts ties with Pees and moves on like he did from Cam Cameron
Wheres the YAC out of Forsett?… yeah the offensive line isn't doing anything, but Step up and be the RB you preached you were going to be in the offseason… we should have made a move for Melvin Gordon!
I wanted gordon, I wanted us to jump up and get him, tbh looking back it would have paid off better. But i dont put any of this on forsett when our passing game is not clicking out side of the tightends and a 36 year old receiver dont expect our run game to work well
also YACs are refered to as Yards after Catch. he didnt catch to much passes out of the backfield
Vick can find open receivers, and with our weak secondary, he is not to be taken for granted. Meanwhile, Pitt has beaten us in the past w/out Big Ben. No one should see this game as a shoo-in. But--with Pitt's weak defense, I think we have a good chance.
downvoting this cause our secondary isnt weak... our DC needs to be changed. his mind set or just go and find a new DC to do the job and make the proper play calling
we beat ourselves, scheme, our defensive scheme is what beat us. We have man corners, a roaming FS and a run stopping SS. Why did i see our SS trying to play coverage down the field when our FS was playing the blitz or run stop? Im no DC but our FS is faster than our SS, and alot of those deep passes are because our SS didnt have the closing speed or just couldnt read the QB. We signed a "playmaking" free safety for a reason why isnt he back there on the crucial drives?. we saw it last year and the year before. Maybe its not the players on defense, maybe just maybe its the dang coordinator....
im leaving the boards till the end of the year, because in week 1 you all sound idiotic blaming players and couches when this loss was a team loss, the broncos look like an early 2000s ravens, where they sent the house and played man, and look at the success. We could have done the same thing but pees thinks to much. when he rushed manning and played press we have way better success. SOOOO if it was anyone who lost us the game its Pees but even at that its not a statement worth arguing. the end result of this is stop for god sake its week 1. quit just quit the boards are filled with idiotic comments it seems. and remember this game was against peyton and we held him to 150 passing yards. MANNING of all people.
Why are fans so quick to blame? it was marc Trestman's first game. You not remember week one last year against the steelers? Our offense really didnt play all that great that game either compared to the rest of the year. The only difference in both those games was flacco was about to convert 2TDs and not throw a pick six. I also remember when everyone flipped out last year because the debacle in Houston when their defense ran us through the mud.
Flacco doesnt throw that pick six, ravens walk out of mile high victorious. SmithSR catches that pass that hit him in the hands and face in the endzone, we walk out of mile high victorious. Gilmore able to hold onto the ball at the last second instead of having it taken away. We walk out of mile high victorious. It was overall a team loss. We went into the game strong but left to many plays on the field that could have changed that outcome of the game outside of the play calling.
I think if we can take anything from this game it was our defense shows promise. If Pee's does more man and sends the house, and allow our corners to do what they do best I think their wont be many issues or losses we will end up stacking. HOWEVER if Suggs injury causes Pee's to play it safe on the defense our season is gone. History shows he is known for doing that if he loses a key piece he will play it safe in the play calling. Also our QB outside of that pick six shows he really has gotten better with age. And our RBs are not a huge issue as we thought with the injury.
I dont think out loss on Defense will hurt us as much as people think with Suggs going down. Yes its a blow to our leadership, but I honestly dont see it being as big as people are saying. We are trying to be a run heavy team/balanced with run first. Which is fine, I think we are in luck with Buck Allen as RB I say it now, if you can tell by anyones first game in as a rookie, backing up forsette i think he has a strong future ahead of him.
Our offense will start ticken, when IDK but they have the potential to be something. You just have to understand our WR core is a bunch of unproven talent outside of SmithSR. And we really do not have speed with Perriman sidelined. Also our tightends are young, outside of Gilmore they have zero NFL experience up until today. Their were a couple of plays where Gilmore and Williams got open but the pass rush was to much for our offensive line.
Overall stop playing the blame game week 1 this was a team loss not one single person was the cause

we just need to not make excuses for joe anymore, he had a better WR core then the back ups have had but yet the backups seem to show up and flacco didnt at times
