  1. You should actually be hoping that whoever is the worse QB gets the back-up position.

Otherwise, when Flacco has one of those games like he had early in this last preseason game against the Eagles... you'll hear people calling for the back-up QB.

At least with Schaub, you won't hear that because he's pretty bad.

But boy, if Tyrod ends up succeeding in Buffalo... the wheels are gonna be greased on some good old "shoulda, coulda, woulda" talk. :242735:

  2. Since the trend in the slow off-season is usually rating the best players, such as the Top 100 and best ravens players of all time, I thought it would be neat to do the opposite, the Ravens All-Time WORST players.

The idea here is to put together a 53 man roster of clunkers, busts, has-beens and never have-beens.

I'm going to start with just a few players, and as we accrue more posts hopefully we can all collaborate to a complete 53-man Stinker roster.

    Tony Banks

    Frank Walker

    Yamon Figurs

    Kyle Boller

    Sergio Kindle

Matt Elam is quickly closing in on challenging Kyle Boller for my top spot.  I thought he'd get more comfortable and better with time.  It seems like the exact opposite is happening.  And his starting point was not very good to begin with.  And I was actually optimistic about the guy coming out of Florida and being able to replace the play-making when Reed finally left.  Boy, was I wrong!(but i don't get paid to be right about football players.  the Ravens do)

  3. There is this and also, it wasn't a discussion of last year's disappointment. It was a question about keeping 3 QBs, etc etc etc. In other words, specifically about back-up QBs and Tyrod's future. So he didn't call him out - he answered a question.

At least this guy answered the actual question of the original post.

As for all this.... hatred.  It's hilarious because unlike Flacco... Tyrod hasn't even had a chance to show anything.

And all the insults about Tyrod's passing ability, is the same thing everyone outside of Ravens Land says about Flacco.  So it's even more hilarious.

Only difference between Flacco and Taylor is that Flacco was GIVEN a starting job and has had every opportunity to prove himself.  He's had success, but there hasn't been much improvement in his individual performance.

Maybe Tyrod Taylor will never start in the NFL.  But it's hilarious he's gotten so much hate when he hasn't even had a chance to screw up.  Just nervous, blind Flacco defenders.

We all know what's going to happen with this story.  Tyrod will be put in during preseason, and the team will almost exclusively run the ball when that happens.  If Wenning shows enough, they'll cut Tyrod at the last minute so he doesn't have time to find a new team.

  4. It's been debated whether or not Torrey Smith is an "elite" receiver.

I don't like to call guys "number 1s" or "number 2s" etc.

But... for the sake of argument, I have a hypothetical for you:

Texans aren't going to compete this year, and Andre Johnson has earned the right to request a trade to a contender.

Do you trade Torrey Smith(and perhaps a mid-to-late round pick) for Andre Johnson?

I assume we all agree Andre Johnson is a upper-echelon receiver.  He probably only has 2-3 more good years left.  Meanwhile Torrey Smith is young and already has chemistry with Flacco.

Do you trade long-term security, for a chance at another title this year or next?  Torrey will eventually want to get paid.  He's still on his rookie deal.  Andre Johnson also already knows Kubiak's offense.  He blocks well(even though Torrey isn't horrible at it), which will help in the running game.

This isn't really for those who believe Torrey is a great receiver... it's more for those who have questioned whether he's that talented.  Those who feel he's really only a deep-threat guy.  Obviously if you already feel Torrey Smith is a great all-around receiver, then you're not going to sacrifice the next 7 years for the next 2.

  5. Seems pretty obvious the Ravens agree with my sentiment that the offense has plenty of talent, and that the issue is performing.

If this draft does anything, it has taken off any pressure that might have been on the offensive guys of being replaced.  No high draft picks coming in to threaten anyone's spot.  So... let's hope these guys repay Ozzie's confidence in their talent.

Cleveland certainly not trying to threaten anyone in the division.  Maybe in the run game, which is exactly what the Ravens appear to be bulking up against on defense.

Wake me up... when September... begins?

  6. I think he'll be an okay contributer.  I'm just not sure he gives the Ravens anything they don't already have.  And this definitely isn't for the future.  It's a win-now move.  I think this sets back Marlon Brown's development.  I thought the Ravens would be better suited getting a bigger receiver that can be that red zone target, or a guy who can go up for the ball on must-convert 3rd downs.

The Ravens already have two very fast/speedy receivers in Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones.

But hey, I'd rather the Ravens do SOMETHING than sit back and do nothing and expect things to change.  So I guess at the very least, I'm intrigued to see a new face out there that's been a known peformer for the last decade.

Safe bet that the home game against the Panthers will be a Sunday Night game.  So for all you who like to complain about night games.... get a head start on selling your tickets to that game.  haha.

  7. It's hilarious that people drone on and on about how Flacco needs more weapons, they don't have enough receivers.... and this is WITH Jacoby currently on the team.

And yet, people are saying he's replaceable.... they don't need him, and he's not that important.

They need Jacoby Jones more than they need Dennis Pitta back.

bottom line is, Jacoby Jones was the real MVP of the Super Bowl and he'd probably have better numbers than Torrey Smith by a large margin this year if he wasn't taken out by his own player in the first game of the season.

The guy is a good receiver, but nobody knew it because Matt Schaub was absolutely terrible in Houston.  He's been able to showcase more of his talents than kick returning here in Baltimore because Flacco is better than Scaub.

You have to pay someone besides Flacco.  If Jacoby Jones isn't back, the Ravens better have something better planned than bringing in another Brandon Stokely like they replaced Boldin with.
