    Not really...

    1. His two year extension he signed is for $41M in new money...a $20.5M average. Hardly a massive paycut.

    2. He got a $28M signing bonus, of which he will make $29M in 2016. He will, however, only make $1M in 2017.

    3. The Pats wisely slashed his base salary to $1M in 2016, so if he's suspended, he will only lose $250K. Had the suspension been upheld last season, he would have lost $2M.

Pretty sure he's saying the same thing. He's saying the media is wrong for portraying it the way they do.

Yeah, I know. I fear what Luck gets paid. It was smart of us to do this with Joe when we did. We may have paid even more if they saw Brock getting 18M.

Flacco has exactly twice as many PLAYOFF wins as Brock has total wins as a starter. His contract is a big gamble, but the Texans needed to do it. They have a solid team, but no QB. We needed to do the Flacco deal, too, and it's now obvious we did NOT overpay.

I think we need to stop being so cynical. The fact that Joe got paid what he did had more to do with the Ravens position and Flacco's leverage. Both parties understand that Flacco is no Brady, Manning, Brees or Rodgers. I'm sure his being the highest paid player had more to do with timing and leverage and the fact that the Ravens either signed him to an extension or risk losing him in 3 yrs or perhaps pay him an astronomical sum in 2018 regardless of how he performed.

So, they made a calculated judgment call, especially with the Cap going up by approx. 10% annually, that come 2018, his 22MM dollar figure will only account for 12-14% of the cap, which by the way is very manageable. After that I think Flacco will perhaps fall out of the top 7-8 in salary with extensions being signed by other QBs. I think the Ravens did what was in their best interest by locking him up till 2021. The other factor that may have played into paying him thus, could be the fact that Joe is a pretty honorable guy and will play through his current extension without complaints even if in 2020 he may find himself underpaid compared to other QBs.

As much as I think Joe is not deserving of being the highest paid QB because he simply isn't the best QB in the league, I think it was still a good and necessary move by the front office.

Logic, and no belittling of board members or Ravens employees. A well thought out response...

I think you might be on the wrong thread, but this is a good post. I think this extension works for all involved. Glad it got done quickly.

  4. A street fight, meaning no rules? Meaning they can pick stuff up and use them? Lee would destroy him with something in his hand. Non-street fight in the ring with nothing? Lee would have to avoid Tyson's punch, which I think he would do fairly well, but Tyson would win if/when he started landing.

PS "Lee was just an actor"?!?!?! Gimme a break.

That's not so bad. 2020 is a bit rough but hopefully things are a bit better cap-wise by then. I don't think we have anyone on the books atm beyond 2020 anyway, do we? Lol.

Well, if nothing good happens between now and then with him, it appears he would be cut before anything else, saving us like $20M against the cap. However, if he does well and we contend year after year again like most rational people believe, that type of hit won't hurt so bad, meaning it would be worth it. Perhaps another extension to reach the likely end of his career could even be reached before that season in that case, even.

The new guys a bad butt.  And as far as the end, it was suppose to be another character, but they were killed a while ago.  The truth is I disliked the original person anyway, so, my choice would be who the episode went with anyway.

Some things they keep true to the comics and some they change.  I think Daryl was made just for the show.

I'm not concerned with the comparisons to the graphic novels. I just think it plays into the tired old adage in tv dramas that any main characters who are popular must end up that way together. People complained about the backstory or "filler" episodes drawing things out and causing them to get bored. For me, this type of thing is far more "boring" and more likely to cause me to lose interest.

  7. Maybe I'm the only one annoyed with the end of that episode of TWD. A little too convenient, and much too much just like every other show. They set it up from the start of the episode, and I kept hoping it wasn't true. This might actually be the only drama I've started with at the beginning and stuck with this long, and this is the kind of thing that can really turn me off to continuing. Hopefully this new guy makes things interesting.

Theres quite a bit of remakes coming out, figured id lay some out for ya guys

    Exorcist

    Overboard

An American Werewolf in London - pretty excited

    Cliffhanger - pretty excited

    Drop Dead Fred

    Jumanji

    Memento - pretty excited

    Police Academy

    Porky's

    The Birds

Wargames - Extremely excited for this, one of my favorite movies

    Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure

Thanks for the info. Hadn't heard of some of these. To clarify, The Exorcist is being made into a one-hour pilot for a possible series (on Fox, I think). Also, the Bill and Ted thing is more like a sequel with the same actors in the same roles.

What's worse than remaking a Hitchcock classic like The Birds? "Produced by Michael Bay." Ugh...

I'm kind of excited for Triple 9.  I like the idea behind it.  I don't expect award nominations or anything, but it seems like it's going to be an all around entertaining movie.

One of the perks of actually getting a sitter and making it back to the theater last week a couple times was catching up on some trailers. Triple 9 does look pretty good, though I'm worried the trailer gave a ton away (perhaps a ruse, but still not great for the trailer).

One trailer that looked absolutely dreadful was Gods of Egypt. That'll surely be surprising to me if that ends up being remotely watchable.

  10. Finally took the plunge into binging. It was out of necessity while trapped at my in-laws all week without a vehicle while my children were being paraded and shown off all around town to people I don't know.

Daredevil and Jessica Jones first respective seasons done. I'm starting to feel the rush so many have for years when it comes to this activity. It'll probably be a turning point in my entertainment experiences going forward.

  11. Finally got a chance to go out to a couple movies for the first time in a while. First one I saw was The Revenant. Greatly impressed with the filmmaking and performances. One of my favorites from 2015.

I then finally saw Star Wars, and I have to say that the force isn't quite awake for me, yet. The movie was completely dependent on nostalgia and pre-instilled fandom. I don't have much invested in that franchise, so this was just an average adventure flick for me. I have to ask the person who stated Rey was the greatest female warrior in cinematic history, was that just a prediction as to what might happen in future movies? If not, I have to say she would not crack my top ten in that category as of now.

I've been trying to make my way to Turbo Kid because I do love cult cinema (specifically the 80s).  Was excited to see it become available for streaming last week.

I really doubt you'll be disappointed. I thought it was a ton of fun to watch.
